The cottage is quaint and well appointed. Its well located and close to Adare which is a wonderful village with great pubs and restaurants. Everyone is friendly and helpful.
Our favorite location in Ireland BY FAR. Already planning to stay here again if/when we return to Ireland. Our kids loved the dogs and cattle, my husband and I loved the authenticity of the cottage, the high water pressure in the shower, and the quiet location.
Our host, Joan was friendly and helpful. The cottage is cozy and inviting and full of Irish heritage. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a break from a hectic life.
Our stay at the cottage exceeded anything we could have imagined. David, Joan and Mike were the most gracious hosts, checking on us several times to see how we were getting on. The grounds are gorgeous and so well maintained. The cottage is beautiful and storybook like. The cows grazing in the pasture was an added bonus!
We had a fabulous stay! The cottage was clean, comfortable, and cozy with all the amenities we needed. David and Joan were welcoming and all around great hosts! Jake and Ted became our canine companions, always there to greet us when we returned from a day of exploring. We look forward to another stay at this very special cottage!
David was a wonderful host! And the cottage was just what we were lookling for - quiet, quaint, authentic, but with some modern amenities. Close enough to town for groceries and restaurants/pubs, but far enough away to allow for peaceful evenings at home when we wanted. Would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!
Absolutely idyllic cottage on the outskirts of the beautiful town of Adare. The cottage is very charming and full of character. Our host David couldn’t do enough for us and was very helpful and informative. We will definitely be coming back!
Amazing! A true hidden gem. Our family loved staying at the thatch cottage which was clean, comfortable, and great place to reset after a long day of sightseeing. David was extremely helpful. My teens loved hanging out with Jake and Ted who welcomed us back to the cottage daily. We didn’t want our stay to end and will definitely return.
Lovely 300 year old cottage with modern amenities. VERY quiet, set back far off the road surrounded by farm fields. One can imagine what life was like many generations ago. David, the host, is very personable and friendly. The village of Adare is just 10 minutes away. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we would definitely return.
The grounds are breathtaking. The host and their two dogs were wonderful. This is a very old cottage and needs some updating like new furniture and mattresses. The beds are not comfortable, but our stay was magical! The area, the garden and the people made this a wonderful family vacation that we will remember forever!

The mattresses are now in mattress heaven!
We really loved meeting you and hope to see you again.
This SURPASSED our expectations!! The host, David, was SO HELPFUL and his doggies are pretty damn cute! The cottage was cozy and had the perfect Irish charm. The wood stove was a big plus for the chilly evenings and the laundry access was so appreciated! We would go back IN A SECOND! It was hard to leave. THANK YOU David!!
The Thatched Irish exceded our expectations. If one wants to experience a true rural Irish holiday stay here.David, the host, was most attentive and made us truly welcome. If you are an animal lover you will get a lot of enjoyment because you are staying at a working cattle farm. One will need a car even though Adare is a short drive. Walking by the road is not an option.I have stayed at many VRBO rentals and if the you like historical charm and warmth ,choose the Thatched cottage.
Absolutely perfect lodging for our trip to Ireland
We spent 5 nights at the thatched cottage to use as a home base for day trips to Southern Ireland. It was like stepping back in time but with modern conveniences!!
The large farm was peaceful and so much fun to explore. The property was close to Adare for stores and restaurants but yet so private.
We did love being visited very day by the two dogs!!
Lastly, David was so responsive, helpful and a pleasure to handle everything during the rental.
We highly recommend this property.
What a magical place. I almost don’t want to leave a review so it stays a secret. David and his family were beyond welcoming. The grounds are lush and well maintained. And the dogs…my goodness the sweetest ever!!! My friend and I didn’t want to leave. The only issue I had was that I’m 6ft and I bonked my head several times on the 300 yr old doorway into the kitchen. So, mind your head!
Accessed by a rural lane, the traditional thatched-roof cottage where we stayed near Adare is full of authenticity and charm, and surrounded by a cottage garden with a sunny terrace, roses and arbors. We took walks along the farm lanes, carpeted with daisies and bordered with white flowering hawthorn hedges and cow parsley, Quite idyllic, and well situated for visiting ancient stone circles, ruined priories, and the bustling historic town of Adare. Our hosts were welcoming and helpful. We had a wonderful time!
The cottage was lovely! Our host, David, was great, he had the wood stove going and a warm plate of brownies for us. Very knowledgeable and helpful. I hope we can stay again! Note: there is shared laundry but the dryer took forever so we wound up not doing as much laundry as we planned.
Accueil très chaleureux dans une très jolie chaumière entourée de prés. Le alentours sont magnifiques et c’est un douillet pied à terre pour visiter la côte ouest de l’Irlande.
