We rented this house because the photos and description seemed like a good fit. The inside was clean and well kept. The exterior could use some maintenance, and there was a noticeable bleach stain on the master bedroom comforter, but neither of those was a major issue.There was what appeared to be a blood stain on a pillor in the master bedroom, there is an open window (no covering) IN the shower, and the house had a strong smell of weed despite having a sign saying no smoking or vaping. The biggest problem was the location, which wasn't apparent from the listing. The surrounding neighborhood didn't feel safe, with people approaching cars asking for money, neglected properties, and what appeared to be drug activity nearby. The driveway was also in poor condition, broken up, on a hump and difficult to safely enter and exit due to its layout and limited visibility due to trees. Because we didn't feel comfortable staying, we left after about 30 minutes and booked a hotel instead. We understand the host can't control the neighborhood, but we were disappointed to receive only a 50% refund despite leaving almost immediately.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. We truly wish your stay could have gone more similarly to the experiences of our past guests. On cleanliness: every property is professionally cleaned and inspected between stays. We've flagged the comforter and the mark on the pillow for our cleaning team to review and replace where needed. Marks like that can come from a number of sources, but we're not taking chances and are handling it regardless. Smoking/vaping is strictly enforced at all our properties, including consequences for confirmed violations. On the neighborhood: The exact location is shown via map pin before booking so every guest can research the area in advance. That information was available and unchanged from what was listed. The overwhelming majority of our guests have stayed comfortably at this address. While what someone considers"safe" can vary per person, we are confident that anyone can enjoy a safe/peaceful stay at our property as we are very familiar with the area. Nonetheless, we understand and respect your personal perspective. On the refund: per VRBO policy, discomfort with the surrounding neighborhood alone isn't grounds for a refund once check-in occurs. We offered 50% back anyway, in good faith, well beyond what policy required. We have reached out directly to make things right and we are confident we will provide a better experience the next time around!
