Why The Owner chose Central Coast

First and foremost, welcome to my newly renovated little slice of heaven.

Call My Bluff was built in 1947 and was originally a fish camp. Fishermen came to relax for a week or weekend of fishing and preparing and eating their catch. If you look above the bed in the bedroom, you can see where the stove pipe was vented through the top of the cottage to heat the fishermen. Up until the winter of 2014, the back porch was screened-in exposing the bathroom to the elements. Even though this was the quaint original structure, there were some things that needed to be modified to make this a cottage comfortable for all seasons.

Enjoy the new outdoor shower, private porch with new case windows, insulation and new windows throughout, steps to the 70’ dock below, upgraded furniture, kitchen cookware and flatware, new steps and handrails to the roadside entrance, new shady umbrella for the dining table on the riverside deck and a 32” smart TV with cable and wireless internet.

Bring your book, a fishing pole and some summer beverages, and you should be equipped for your vacation getaway at Call My Bluff Cottage on the Neuse River at Minnesott Beach, North Carolina. If you are single and need a retreat or if you are a couple seeking a romantic getaway, this is for you! For small families, it is a cozy spot if you love the river and relaxing on the screened-in porch, set for privacy and relaxation. Fishermen welcome. No pets please.

The cottage rents for $825 per week, $325 per weekend, and $100 for each additional night. The cottage will accommodate 4. Go to vrbo to view Call My Bluff. Enter the #359773. If you would like to see the larger cottage next to Call My Bluff, go to vrbo and enter the # 245297 to view Journey’s End Cottage which accommodates 8. Journey’s End is the oldest structure along this stretch of the Neuse River. Old but equipped with everything that you need to make a week or weekend vacation optimal.

What makes this cottage unique

Relaxation, fishing, a sunset walk on the waterfront, meals with a view of the Neuse River, kayaking, shopping, and dining in Oriental, Beaufort or New Bern.

Excellent cottage with a beautiful view!

Terry is stellar to rent from! She is so kind and generous. I had a wonderful time at the cottage with three of my close friends. The dock is perfect for kayaking, watching the sunset, and (if you're lucky) spotting the wild dolphins! Secluded, quiet, and relaxing. No complaints!

Owner's Response: Once in a while I am able to meet my guests on the river. This was one of them Ashley and friends were like old friends arriving for a weekend on the river. It was great to know that they understood the possibilities of this cottage and it's views. I hope you will return for another getaway with old friends. Terry

Tranquil

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I decided to "runaway" for the weekend. I've stayed at Terry's house next door, Journey's End, a few times on girls weekends. I absolutely love Minnesott Beach and Journey's End. I finally talked my husband into going and we stayed at Call My Bluff. He said several times, "I know now why you girls love this place." We did absolutely nothing but be together and watch the boats go by, enjoyed watching the porpoises and other fish & birds, deer & other wildlife. We opened all of the windows for the steady breeze to flow through the cottage. We did a lot of porch sitting, book reading, sun bathing, snacking and wine drinking. We've never been so relaxed in our 29 years of marriage. If this is what retirement is like, bring it on - as long as I can live here!

Terry keeps both of her property's well maintained and adorably decorated. She has thought of everything you would need while staying there. She is only a phone call away if you were to need anything.

Pack some comfy clothes, bathing suit, a fishing rod, a good book, a camera, some food and beverages and an attitude of relaxation, peace and romance. You WILL fall in love!

( I really didn't want to write a good review because I want this place to my self!)

R&R

  • 4 of 5

Hello Terry,

Just wanted to say that we enjoyed our stay at Call My Bluff.

It was the perfect size place for the two of us. The bedding was really comfortable.

We set on the porch and watched the river role by or rode into Oriental and Cherry Point.

We caught a few fish and did a little crabbing and laughed a lot. But without a doubt the most enjoyable part was peace and quiet, we so needed that!

Your description of the cabin was exactly as it was...we truly enjoyed ourselves!

Thank you for the hospitality in meeting some of our special request.
