Why Owner chose Minnesott Beach
First and foremost, welcome to my newly renovated little slice of heaven. Call My Bluff was built in 1947 and was originally a fish camp. Fishermen came to relax for a week or weekend of fishing and preparing and eating their catch. If you look above the bed in the bedroom, you can see where the stove pipe was vented through the top of the cottage to heat the fishermen. Up until the winter of 2014, the back porch was screened-in exposing the bathroom to the elements. Even though this was the quaint original structure, there were some things that needed to be modified to make this a cottage comfortable for all seasons. Enjoy the new outdoor shower, private porch with new case windows, insulation and new windows throughout, steps to the 70’ dock below, upgraded furniture, kitchen cookware and flatware, new steps and handrails to the roadside entrance, new shady umbrella for the dining table on the riverside deck and a 32” smart TV with cable and wireless internet. Bring your book, a fishing pole and some summer beverages, and you should be equipped for your vacation getaway at Call My Bluff Cottage on the Neuse River at Minnesott Beach, North Carolina. If you are single and need a retreat or if you are a couple seeking a romantic getaway, this is for you! For small families, it is a cozy spot if you love the river and relaxing on the screened-in porch, set for privacy and relaxation. Fishermen welcome. No pets please. The cottage rents for $825 per week, $325 per weekend, and $100 for each additional night. The cottage will accommodate 4. Go to vrbo to view Call My Bluff. Enter the #359773. If you would like to see the larger cottage next to Call My Bluff, go to vrbo and enter the # 245297 to view Journey’s End Cottage which accommodates 8. Journey’s End is the oldest structure along this stretch of the Neuse River. Old but equipped with everything that you need to make a week or weekend vacation optimal.

What a great place. Me andd my two children felt at home and enjoyed the personal touches that Terry has put into the place. The river, dock and yard were just whatvthe doctor ordered for a stay away from home. Thank you!
Can you believe that two teenagers, my husband and I, and my 80+ year-old Mom stayed in this wee but wonderful cottage and loved every minute of it? When we first drove up, we all thought, how can we fit in there for a week? Well, it was easy and we loved it. Our weather in late March ranged from the mid-30s to the mid-70s, but luckily no rain. The setting is stunning, on a little bluff overlooking the wide Neuse River, which is really the star attraction, with its changing moods and glorious sunsets. We assume the sunrises are just as marvelous, though we never woke early because the cottage was so peaceful and conducive to sleep. The songbirds did wake us one morning however!
The cottage is beautifully decorated and attention was paid to every detail to make it as comfortable as could be. It was very clean as well. We loved the nautical decor, and all the hooks and ledges and shelves that made it easy for us to put our belongings where we needed them. The gas heater kept us warm when the weather was cool, and a few opened windows did the trick when the weather heated up. The kitchen felt surprising large, thanks to a large sink and decent prep area, so we were able to work together in it to prepare meals. Well-equipped too! The table was great for eating for 5 or playing cards.
We enjoyed kayaking, especially to the marshy area nearby, where a little marina sits. A few of us even took a very cool dip in the river. The outdoor shower was a hit on the warmer days. The inside bathroom is small but we made it work, and there were plenty of spots to hang towels and place toiletries. The living room was perfect for reading or the occasional TV show. The best spot in the house though, was the deck, overlooking the river. And the dock! We saw dolphins, ospreys, cormorants, pelicans, geese, NC wood ducks, indigo buntings, and of course lots of squirrels. So many songbirds. So peaceful.
The cottage is rather remote, but it didn't bother us, since it was a great place to relax and enjoy nature. If you want great excursions, they aren't far away. We visited Oriental, a cute town nearby (16 min drive), took the ferry across the river then on to Atlantic Beach, and spent a few days exploring New Bern (35 min drive).
Wifi is super slow, so focus on enjoying the view.
Our host, Terry, was very gracious and helpful. She gave us tips on things to do and was eager to make our trip the best. You won't regret booking this little piece of heaven!
Exceeded expectations. I hope to return many times in the future.
Terry did an amazing job of representing the cabin thru her pictures. The perfect place to unplug, and relax. The pro shop to Minnesott Beach CC is a smooth 6 iron away from the front steps. I hope to spend many more weekends in the cabin. That you Ms. Terry!
You were a welcome guest and it delighted the cottage and me to have you spend time golfing on the Neuse River. I look forward to having you return, as you say, for many more weekends Cameron.
Cottage on the Neuse
Beautiful cottage with phenomenal view across the Neuse.
Easy access (via free ferry) to very nice hiking on the Neusiok Trail
A great place to relax, admire the river, and the beautiful sunsets.
Perfect setting on the Neuse
Call My Bluff was the ideal location for our fall vacation! We enjoyed kayaking on the river, and my husband had good luck fishing right off the dock. The cottage is very close to the Minnesott Beach-Cherry Branch ferry. We rode it a couple of times since we explored the Croatan National Forest on the other side of the river. The ferry is free and only a 20 minute ride. We enjoyed magnificent sunsets all four evenings. Looking forward to returning to the cottage again!
