About Craig Cozart

We are semi-retired from careers as a graphic designer and photographer. We enjoy horses, rafting, and hiking. There are two friendly dogs on the property.

Craig Cozart purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Craig Cozart chose Pilot Hill

We wanted to be near the rafting on the American River, and we needed a place for our horses. We also wanted somewhere that was quiet and private, yet close to things like grocery stores.

What makes this cottage unique

You can be as active as you like- you can run, bike, ride, hike, raft, or just sit with a book and watch the deer eat my landscaping.

Wonderful cottage

  • 5 of 5

This was a lovely cottage, surrounded by trees and private enough though on the owners property. Owner's art and the wonderful light through the many windows made it a lovely and comfortable place. Everything we needed was available, and it was about a 15 min drive to Auburn old town. Craig gave us tips on hiking and was great getting us set up, then ensuring privacy during our stay. The two sweet basset hounds came to visit each morning and got some lovin' (and a cookie) which was fabulous. The American river is crowded on weekends, but on a weekday morning we had a lovely hike from the bridge out to Clementine lake and swam in the river swimming hole along the way.

Would definitely stay here again!

The perfect getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Thanks so much Craig & Jane for sharing your beautiful cottage with us. We're retired world travelers and live in the Bay Area and even though we're just a couple of hours drive from home we were a world away from our daily lives. The cottage is one of the prettiest and most relaxing places we've ever stayed and we hope to return one day. Bart participated in a ukelele workshop in Auburn on Saturday and I was happy just hanging out in the cottage reading because it was so hot (90F+!) but yesterday we braved the heat and went on a couple of nice hikes. We'd love to take advantage of exploring the plethora of trails in the future when it isn't so hot. Last night we sat outside and enjoyed watching the Perseid meteor shower. Perfect spot & perfect temperature! Our one very minor issue was the ticking of the clock in the kitchen. It interrupts the silence and really isn't necessary in our view since we have watches and phones and a clock in the bedroom. Maybe it doesn't bother others, but we thought it worth mentioning. Oh, almost forgot to mention that Jane's paintings are wonderful and a great enhancement to the beauty of the space and the surroundings!

5 STAR cottage and hospitality!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

The hosts could not have been more welcoming! This is a place I would highly recommend for those who appreciate a high standard of accomadations, and the effort that it takes to make guests feel welcomed, yet allowing for comfortable autonomy. This place is the perfect setup and managed with care and commitment. Also, the hosts went above and beyond to make sure our pets were comfortable and safe, as well. I just cannot express how grateful we are to have been guests at “The Cottage”!

Great weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this great little cottage. Though we live nearby it was a perfect place to stay to attend a wedding at Hart 2 Hart Winery in Pilot Hill followed by whitewater rafting the following day. There was everything you could possibly need there, the bed was comfortable and the patio was great for enjoying the evening. We loved it and would love to return someday. Great cozy little cottage, thank you.

Perfect tranquility

  • 5 of 5

Looking for a quiet place to relax in the country but still be close to everything you need? This is the place! A little slice of heaven for me. Cool breeze through the oak trees, quiet evenings, warm comfortable bed, perfect little kitchen to make any meal. The best I've slept in months. Hosts are kind and thoughtful. 4 days was not enough. With so many things to do in the area, I'll be back..for sure!

Map

The address works for GPS and maps. However, do not let your gps put you on Pilot View Drive. It does not go through. If you are coming up from El Dorado Hills, just stay on Salmon Falls Rd. until you get to Rattlesnake Bar Rd., turn left and come down to Tigerlily. The same applies when coming from Auburn. Stay on 49 to Rattlesnake Bar, turn right. Easy.
