About Craig Cozart

We are semi-retired from careers as a graphic designer and photographer. We enjoy horses, rafting, and hiking. There are two friendly dogs on the property.

Craig Cozart purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Craig Cozart chose Pilot Hill

We wanted to be near the rafting on the American River, and we needed a place for our horses. We also wanted somewhere that was quiet and private, yet close to things like grocery stores.

What makes this cottage unique

You can be as active as you like- you can run, bike, ride, hike, raft, or just sit with a book and watch the deer eat my landscaping.

A little bit of heaven

  • 5 of 5

This "guest house" truly is a little bit of heaven...from the beautiful oaks that surround the property to the precious pups and gentleman of the "big house" that welcomed us, we could not have enjoyed ourselves any more! The quiet charm of the home is awesome, beautiful fully functional kitchen, a magnificent fireplace with a library-surround holding tons of books to venture through and beautiful paintings by the lady of the "big house", Jane. These were but just a few of the many wonderful amenities found within this Pilot Hill home. It's everything you could want or dream of and MORE!

Quiet Serene Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Great place to get away from it all! Even enjoyed an unexpected snow shower one evening, but used the gas grill outside none-the-less. The cottage is accommodating and comfortable. So quiet inside that the tick-tock of the second hand on the clock hanging in the kitchen can be heard. Peaceful surroundings outside. Fulfilled our expectations....and beyond!

A really beautiful little house.

  • 5 of 5

We were here for seven weeks, for the arrival of our new granddaughter. This is really a perfect little getaway house. It is far higher quality than most such rental units - granite countertops, wood floors, high-end appliances, nice furniture. The king-size bed was really comfortable, there were lots of extra sheets, towels and blankets and plenty of storage space, including drawers and a great walk-in closet that held our suitcases and miscellaneous paraphernalia as well as clothes. There are lots of thoughtful details, like reading lamps on both sides of the bed, cuddly throws for sitting by the fireplace (and dry wood for the fireplace!), spices in the kitchen, and lots of books. The cottage is fairly close to the main house, but so well designed that you can’t even see the house from inside the cottage. Craig left us alone unless we needed something, then he was prompt and friendly. We found the internet to be, if not blazing, quite acceptably fast. It did go down after a power outage, but Craig fixed it ASAP. The rural location is beautiful, with plenty of opportunities nearby for hiking, biking and horseback riding. There isn’t a lot nearby in the way of shopping, restaurants and entertainment - this is a country retreat. The Holiday Market grocery store in Cool was a savior, about 4 miles away. My biggest regret is that I didn’t actually get to spend enough time relaxing in the cottage, as we spent every afternoon and evening with our grand baby and her parents. And of course we enjoyed the daily visits of the very polite basset hounds. Dog treats are provided with the house! The Gold Country Cottage raises the bar for HomeAway rentals.

Quiet, private, beautiful mountain retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed at this lovely property over President's Day weekend and truly enjoyed our visit. The accommodations were quiet and serene. We enjoyed visits from the sweet dogs on the deck each morning. The bed was extremely comfortable and there were plenty of blankets. We wish we could have stayed longer!

A sanctuary is waiting

  • 5 of 5

We chose this cottage because it looked comfortable for an extended stay (for my husband , myself, and our dog Skipper) between selling our home and move in date for new home. Exceeded “comfortable” by a long shot! Best decision we’ve made in a long time! If you like well designed layout, comfort features to soothe the soul, privacy, beautiful property and surrounding area book this country cottage this minute!

The address works for GPS and maps. However, do not let your gps put you on Pilot View Drive. It does not go through. If you are coming up from El Dorado Hills, just stay on Salmon Falls Rd. until you get to Rattlesnake Bar Rd., turn left and come down to Tigerlily. The same applies when coming from Auburn. Stay on 49 to Rattlesnake Bar, turn right. Easy.
