Comfortable, convenient and central.
Like many of the old houses in Amsterdam, a very steep staircase leads up to the small apartment. You need to know this if your luggage is heavy. The owner, however, was very helpful and carried my suitcase up the stairs. In general this was a very nice place, very clean and pleasant. There was a lot of very noisy building work going on next door and which started at 7am and which was pretty annoying. The cupboard had hangers which could only be reached if you are 6ft or taller. I am 5ft2in so no chance. Discussed this with the owners and I think they will make some changes for the smaller people. I would stay there again as I think I was just unlucky with the timing of the building work.
Location is great
This apartment was in a great location for walking to all the nearby attractions and also very close to a tram stop. The apartment was basically equipped with plenty of coffee pods but unfortunately no coffee creamer. I was surprised that the owner entered the apartment each day while I was gone to “service” it, in his words. Yet I had to empty my garbage without instructions on where to put it. The bed was very comfortable. The owner was very responsive to a couple things that didn’t work properly - the tv and the lock box were not working when I checked in. This was resolved when the owner came home from work. I found the bedroom cold since the only heat source is in the kitchen area. The shower room was also quite cold. The shower itself was great! If you choose to rent this apartment remember to bring your own soap. One container of hand soap was provided that seemed to be watered down, although there are 3 sinks in the apartment. This apartment is great if you don’t mind the few things I mentioned. The location was the thing I liked most, being so close to cafes, bars and restaurants and of course, a tram stop. It’s also very close to a main shopping street. I would stay again in warmer months. A few last suggestions: you need to be quite self sufficient to be comfortable here; If you are bothered by noise, bring ear plugs. It’s a high traffic area since it is so well located.
Thank you for this review, and all your great comments. I think however there must be some confusion, the apartment is indeed very centrally located -close to shopping streets, trams, museums-, but the bedroom is on a very quiet courtyard, all our guests always praise us on how quiet the apartment is. Also we do not have 3 sinks or a lockbox. My partner and I have busy day jobs so we service the apartments every other day and guests have a “do not disturb” sign. We always ask our guests to let us know if the temperature has to be adjusted or if there are any other requests or comments during their stay, you said several times all was wonderful and good. Probably, there is some misunderstanding with an apartment you stayed before or after staying with us. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to clarify this was not our apartment you were giving a review on.
Clean, comfortable, perfect
This is a beautiful, quiet little apartment that is in perfect vicinity of museums, points of interest, and tons of cafes and shops, while being tucked away in a quiet street away from all the noise. We stayed there for 3 nights and couldn't ask for anything more.
The hosts, Dan and Dan were incredibly welcoming, and we could tell that they were super proud of this place. Very well maintained, clean, with a well equipped kitchen and ample Amsterdam charm.
100% would stay there again, and recommend this place to friends and family, and anyone looking for a little peace in quiet in the hectic and crazy city of Amsterdam!
Just like Amsterdam, this was a wonderfully cozy place!
I stayed here with my friend for a week in November 2017. I haven't stayed at a hotel in Amsterdam before, but I assume that we got a lot of value by staying here instead of a chain hotel. The space isn't huge, but we didn't really need any more room, so it was perfect! Not to mention, it was in a quiet neighbourhood, but was just steps from all the great sites, like 9 Streets (and the Jordaan area is gorgeous)!
The bedroom provided enough space for sleeping and storing clothes and luggage and was very clean. I was able to connect to it my computer to watch Netflix and the like, which was great. The bed was comfy, as we both enjoy beds on the softer side.
The kitchen worked for what we needed it for, as we generally made sandwiches before we ventured out. There are numerous grocery stores around as well. The only downside I would have to say is that they didn't have a serrated knife for cutting bread/buns.
Overall, this place was amazing. We didn't have a lot of contact with Dan & Daniel, but they were always friendly and helpful when we crossed paths. I would recommend this place for anyone that is looking for something nicer (and slightly bigger) than a hotel room and situated right in the heart of Amsterdam.
Great Apartment in a Lovely Neighborhood
My husband and I stayed here for a week and it was wonderful. The apartment was the perfect size for us and the kitchen had everything we needed in order to cook some of our own meals while staying in Amsterdam. We walked everywhere in the city and nothing took us more than 30 minutes to walk to. The neighborhood is beautiful, clean and quiet, but close enough to all the action. Dan was great and quick to respond to any questions and concerns we may have had during the week. I highly recommend this apartment.
Great Little Place
A great little place to crash after spending the day exploring Amsterdam. Easy walking distance to everything you need. Dan and Dan are great hosts, there to answer any questions you might have, checking in from time to time, and offering suggestions of where to eat and what to see. We recommend them highly.
