Impeccably restored to its original grandeur, Villa Padilla Trice, situated on the grounds of the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa, represents the best that Rio Mar has to offer. Overlooking the championship Ocean golf course, the villa possesses all of the hallmarks of the original Rio Mar aesthetic that has made Rio Mar a favorite destination for decades. Handmade Spanish tiles, terra cotta flooring and gorgeous variegated wood framing throughout lend to the villa's warm, authentic Mediterranean feeling, while recent updates add modern design touches the discerning guest will appreciate.

Appointed throughout with a minimalist mix of classic Modernist and traditional Spanish style furniture and a wide variety of local Puerto Rican art, the villa provides a casually elegant backdrop for the perfect Caribbean vacation. The villa's two terraces provide the opportunity to dine al fresco or luxuriate on the upstairs terrace and enjoy a bottle of wine while listening to the waves crash on the nearby beach.

Extensive cross-ventilation throughout the villa brings the outdoors in and allows guests to enjoy Puerto Rico's cool, gentle tropical breezes without stepping away from the villa. Once you arrive, you may even find it hard to leave and experience the endless beaches, pools, golf courses, tennis courts, casino and restaurants withinin the resort , or El Yunque Rainforest directly outside of the resort.

In the spirit of stripping down to the bare essentials of casual elegance, high speed internet is made available for those who need to stay connected and a Boese stereo system will suit all your music needs, but guests will also notice the conspicuous absence of televisions and air conditioning in the villa, distractions that get in the way of experiencing the natural beauty that surrounds the villa. Lydia was wonderful. Very attentive and accomodating. The unit did not have Air Conditioning, and made our stay very uncomfortable. and although it was listed, it was minimizing this important feature and was not prominent in the listing. Other units appear to have a/c, and as such the value for the price paid for this unit was dissapointing.

Beautiful villa! Stayed with friends in the villa for a week. Very clean and had everything we needed. We were able cook several meals at the house and used the grill too which was nice to have. Golf cart was a great added benefit to get around the resort. Will definitely want to stay here again. Only thing worth adding is that there is no A/C in the unit. There are multiple ceiling fans and stand alone fans to use. We had all of the windows open and did just fine almost of the time because there usually is a breeze. Plus you get to hear the coqui at night with all the windows open which was super relaxing. Also there is no TV, but none of us are TV watchers so didn’t matter to us. Had an amazing time!

The Villa was beautiful. I didn’t do my research as I usually do because this Villa didn’t have air conditioner. It was a hot week so we were pretty miserable in the evenings and while trying to sleep. I think this is pretty important for people to know before making reservations.

Weekend Rio Mar Stay

Excellent property and location. Kitchen fully equipped and very close drive- golf cart included- to beach. If visiting summer months be aware there is no A/C- although plenty of ceiling fans and portable fans provided. For our adult kids after a day in the sun they would have preferred a cooler room to sleep but it was not as hot as would’ve expected.

Beautiful villa, beautiful view, very peaceful, extremely comfortable rooms, and great living area. Full kitchen and bbq in the balcony. We love the fact that there is no tv and AC. It was a great three nights of connecting with the family and the environment around us. What a treat!

Most Exquisite Villa

Beautiful villa, excellent location for getting to many attractions and sights. The Cluster 2 pool is bigger than expected. Tennis facilities are a bit expensive but worth it to play on clay courts. The property manager responded quickly to all questions.

Great Place, Great Stay

Ten days, 4 adults, 2 young children - 3 generations.Villa is comfortable and well laid out on two levels - our daughter/husband and 2 kids used 2 upstairs bedrooms and bathroom. My wife and I were in downstairs bedroom and bathroom. Patios on both levels.Comfortable seating for everyone. Best equipped kitchen for a cook that we have encountered in all our travels. Cluster ll pool is great for both laps and kids. Beautiful beach is 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive away. Lydia, the property manager, was very responsive. Overall wonderful place and wonderful stay.

Great Villa in Rio Mar!

We loved everything about the Villa, check-in process and communication with the manager was great. The one negative, was we had some issues on the resort grounds with having access to the pool bathroom and parking areas that we were supposed to have access to but were told otherwise multiple times. There seems to be tension among the hosts and resort for VRBO rentals, and everyone you ask says something different. The access to the resort areas is a big reason we booked this property so hopefully they get the issues resolved and a clear message to the security and staff in regards to who has access to what. Would definitely recommend booking this Villa!

Just returned from a fabulous trip to the Rio Mar! Absolutely beautifully decorated villa! So many amenities; plenty of bath and beach towels, shower soap and shampoo, kitchen stocked with anything you needed to cook a gourmet meal, including spices! Only thing one could miss (we didn't), a microwave, we used the oven to warm up our leftovers. We really appreciated the large load washer and dryer, returned home with clean clothes! No air conditioner, but the cross breeze is lovely! We slept with our doors and windows open, enjoying the ambiance of the island coquis. They do have many fans available as well. The beds are so comfortable, and I LOVED the pillows!!! I felt I slept in a 5-star resort! My only recommendation, better lighting on the bathrooms, difficulty seeing while applying makeup.The golf cart made it easy to explore the resort and visit the beach access. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are available on the beach and a pool bar for a refreshing tropical drink. Take advantage of the coolers at the villa and stock up with beer and water for a cheaper day on the beach. We appreciated the hosts restaurant recommendations, don't be afraid to venture off the resort, the food and drinks at the resort are incredibly overpriced!Thank you again for your hospitality!

perfect family get away

We loved out trip! Spacious for our family and perfectly appointed. Our kids loved getting around the property with the golf cart and had a blast in the ocean. Warm water and gentle waves. Would definitely return. Eliott was a very responsive and helpful host!

Great Place to Stay

Padilla-Trice was a great place for my family and I to stay while celebrating my 60th birthday. It was clean, the bed were comfortable. The Villa is close to the pool, and you can easy walk to the beach club, or you can take the gulf cart! It's only a 15 min drive to the kiosks at Luquillo Beach and less than that to. El Yunque. Old San Juan is and easy 45 min drive depending. Don't be put off by the lack of AC. With the cross breezes from the large windows and the stand fans, it was very comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need if you want cook. Elliott, the owner and Lydia, the property manager promptly responded to emails and text messages. Overall, we had a great stay.

Great Villa but not heat wave friendly

True authentic Puerto Rican experience. But villa should not be rented during summer months. Even with doors and windows open the house was unbearably hot.

Wonderful Villa

We stayed at this cute Villa while attending a wedding at the resort. We loved the place. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed for cooking. All the rooms have a wonderful view of the golf course and the ocean in the distance. The bedrooms have ceiling fans and huge windows. Two of the bedrooms have access to decks. The villa does not have air conditioning but with all the windows and fans we never felt like we needed it. The tree frog noises at night are incredible! Sleep with the windows open and you will be treated to a symphony of noises. Amazing. The place comes with a golf cart which we used to go to the beach each day. You have access to all the resort has to offer including the pools, beaches and restaurants. There are plenty of places close by to eat at off the resort as well. Very close to the rain forest. You must visit that! We really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if we come back to Puerto Rico.

Beautiful villa with everything you need!

We (me, my husband, daughter, and daughter’s college roommates) visited during spring break. The villa is gorgeous and looks just like the pictures. The furnishings were comfortable for all 6 of us - beds included. Plenty of space to spread out with the two balconies so we didn’t feel crowded. No AC was no problem despite 80 degree weather every day - keeping the windows and doors open and the ceiling fans going moved the sultry air and was plenty comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed as well. The Cluster 2 pool, which was very clean and well maintained, is just a short walk and we only ever saw one other couple there. The beach was also just a short walk (10 minutes) or a quick zip away in the golf cart and was a really nice surprise. The water is clean with plenty of waves and a good supply of lounge chairs. Lots to do close by - the beach and kiosks at Luquillo, the rainforest, restaurants, and grocery stores. Lydia, the property manager, was very responsive though we needed nothing. We loved our stay and hope to return soon!

Laidback luxe, nothing more or less

If your overworked, overstimulated, over-it entire being needs a tropical escape where you can throw open the French doors to a warm sun and a gentle breeze, sip your coffee on the open-air patio and walk barefoot on cool Mediterranean tile, Villa Padilla Trice is just the island balm you're yearning for. The place has everything you need (comfy beds, ceiling fans, stunning views, a well-stocked kitchen, a golf cart and a championship golf course, beaches, pools and hot tubs steps away) and nothing you don't (a TV, charging dock, air conditioning). The hosts are incredibly gracious and the neighbors quiet. Ditto for the neighborhood cats, though for the best night's sleep, bring earplugs to tone down the nightly serenade of the coqui frogs. Nature. R&R. Laidback luxe at its understated finest. The only thing VPT leaves you wishing for is more time to stay put. Don't worry, you'll be back.

Wonderful

I highly recommend this villa. It was beautiful, clean, and quiet and just a golf cart ride away from the resort and community beach. It was really fun to cruise around in the golf cart! There is a neighborhood pool as well. And it is a great location from which you can explore the local beaches and rainforest with restaurants and a grocery store with everything you need nearby.

Historically the second home community of Puerto Rican families, Rio Mar has always been known across the island as an exclusive retreat for Puerto Rican professionals that resorts built later have tried to replicate. The architecture of the villas across the property conforms to the rolling shape of the hills, making each villa unique and the grounds feel organic. A native of Puerto Rico, Rodrigo spent his teenage years at Rio Mar, and dreamed of owning a property here while growing up. Living in New York City crystallized the need to have a retreat to relax and recharge. At Rio Mar, we've found the perfect villa to do just that.

O que faz essa propriedade ser única?

We chose our particular villa after looking at approximately 15 different properties within Clusters 1 and 2, the first and most unique and authentic developments, within Rio Mar. Upon walking into this villa we knew it was precisely the one we wanted. It had great bones and gorgeous hand-crafted wood framing throughout giving it a warm and unique character that luxury developments built in recent years simply lack. It is spacious, has excellent views, light and airflow, and is one of the only villas within the entire community with 2 expansive terraces from which to enjoy the golf course, the extensive bird habitat and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach nearby. The villa has all of its original Spanish tile work and looks and feels like a special get away that would never be built today.
