About Christopher Talbot

I arrived in Calgary 12 years ago and had dreamed of owning a luxury resort style log home in the mountains. I searched all the typical areas to find a suitable location, Bragg Creek, Canmore and Kananaskis Country, but found these areas very congested. What i really wanted was total privacy, complete silence and panoramic views. Fortunately a friend told me of an acreage that had a partially built log home that bordered the Rocky Mountain Forestry Reserve NW of Cochrane. As soon as i saw the property i fell in love with the possibilities. I spent a year finishing the home and included lots of exceptional features so that i could totally indulge myself as well as entertain corporate clients, friends and family.

Christopher Talbot purchased this estate in 2000

You can enjoy day outings to a number of world class destinations in the surrounding areas and then escape to a place of great beauty, peace and total silence where you can escape the congestion of the tourist destinations.

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We were 3 couples staying and it was perfect!

We cooked in several meals and we had all what was needed to prepare full course meals.

We enjoyed the hot tub and fires. We sat on the decks every morning and every evening. They was so much deck space! We loved the swing too! The views were spectacular! We could see the mountains from the deck as well as from the observatory. We spent some afternoons having wine/beer/appetizers before dinner at the deck of the observatory. We hit it just right to see the fall foliage on the Aspen trees!

It was so relaxing, peaceful, and beautiful at the cabin, that we couldn't wait to come home from a day of exploring! We also enjoyed morning hikes on the property.

We felt like we were the only people around for miles! and I think we were!

We all felt spoiled and content with our stay at your beautiful, peaceful, cabin and the wonderful exploring we did in Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper, Two Jack Lake, Lake Minnewanka, etc.

Can't wait to come back again, Thank you for sharing your Canadian Paradise.

Always Love Well, Melissa, David, Paul, Sandy, David and Laura

P.S. Lana was great in checking us in. The Cabin was spotless. Prompt response while booking etc. Would recommend to family and friends alike. Just remember it is about 1 1/2 hours from Banff but it was well with the drive to stay her for us. We loved the beauty and seclusion we had here.

Family Adventure

  • 5 of 5

My family of six adults vacationed at Wavehill July 16 through July 24. We all were well satisfied with the house and surroundings. The house is a 'work of art' that Chris has created and contains everything needed for a wonderful vacation. The deck space is spacious with plenty of chairs, tables and large swing. The hot tub was a welcome relief at the end of a long day in the Rockies. The view of the mountains from the observatory is superb.

Lana, the caretaker, is a real jewel. She is friendly and very helpful. Chris handles the business end of Wavehill and all is done very professionally.

I highly recommend Wavehill for a retreat away from the ordinary.

Phenomenal and memorable property

  • 4 of 5

Wavehill was a fantastic property for our family. It met our needs very well. The house is beautiful and the property itself is very scenic and relaxing.

The only reasons for 4 stars and not 5 stars relate to (a) the wifi speed, which we found to be slower than we are accustomed and not "broadband" and (b) TV functionality and choices (no TSN, sports). Although these are minor when visiting an area as beautiful as Alberta, where you should spend most of your time outdoors exploring, with three teens, when having some down time, these features would have been nice.

But otherwise, well supplied with towels, essentials, etc.

It is quite a distance from some activities, so be ready for driving 30 minutes minimum. This wasn't a problem for us, as we wanted to avoide the crowds and the regular congested tourist scene.

We enjoyed time on the large outdoor patios, with amazing views. Coffee in the mornings and BBQ in the evenings. It was a great place and we would recommend.

Owner's Response: Thanks Jeff, much appreciated, re the wifi, it is a high speed connection but on satellite so the supplier does restrict much band width can be used each month. If multiple people are using it and for extended periods especially movies etc it will default to low speed service. Hope to see you again, Christopher

Perfect for my Family of 11

  • 5 of 5

Wavehill is located in a remote area which is exactly what made it perfect for our Family Vacation. We all have such busy lives that being together In this beautiful home allowed us to spend time together without the distractions of work and our typical daily lives. It was close enough to Banff, Canmore, Chochrane and Lake Louise to allow us to see some spectacular sites in Alberta.

Having the hot tub and pool table really was a plus. Thank you to Christopher for sharing your amazing house for our friends Christmas retreat and Caroline for all your help with my questions. Truly a great adventure and wonderful house.

Amazing Hideaway

  • 5 of 5

Went with a group of ladies and we loved the time away. Very secluded and the scenery is stunning. Lots of beautiful fun decor. Didn't have to bring a thing other than our clothes which was perfect, everything is there. Watching a movie in the media room and the hot tub was bliss. Would love to come back one day. Thank you Christopher!
