Casa IL GELSO is a magic combination of ancient village charm, amazing surroundings and modern comfort. It is located in Borgo Mommialla, a reconstructed from ruins ancient village.
Apartment is for 2-4 persons consists of spacious bedroom with double-sized bed, living room with comfortable sofa transformable to double-sized bed, two bathrooms, fully equipped separate kitchen and loggia. Bedroom has a separate exit to private garden. Windows of apartment are facing a fantastic view of Tuscany and it's spectacular hills, on which famous Volterra could be observed in the distance.
Guests of the Casa IL GELSO can use a private garden in disposal, which could be used for barbeque, relaxation or having a dinner on open air in shades of hundred-year-old mulberry tree (il gelso). Cozy loggia is an ideal place either for an early morning hot cup of coffee or for an evening spending of leisure time catching the sounds of nature and admire the twinkling lights of distant Volterra.
Our guests also are encouraged to use and enjoy a large swimming pool with aqua massage area. The attractive design of the pool makes it wonderful to spend time in.
The apartment is recreated in authentic Tuscany style with usage of natural, organic ingredients and materials such as wood, stone, terracotta, carrara marble and others. Matching of traditional interior and modern facilities creates a comfortable atmosphere allowing to enjoy every bit of staying in Casa IL GELSO. Such facilities include automatic climate control, washing machine, dish washer, TV, Wi-Fi, alarm.
For cold days there is a wood-burning stove, which creates a special comfort.

Lovely quiet environment

Incredible location between sienna and Firenze. Isolated quiet place with a great swimming pool and nevertheless main touristic spots are easily reachable . Everything went smoothly and we had a relaxing week.

Great location, very nice appartment

We really liked the Borgo, it's a small medivial village transformed to holiday homes with a shared pool. We hardly saw the other people, since the builings are clever transformed when it comes to privacy. The appartment self has everything you need and it's clean and well kept. The Borgo is quite secluded but you have beautiful views around the area. We did not much hiking due to the temperatures, but the area seems to be nice for a walk in spring or autumn. You have to drive for everything but in the end it did not matter to us - we spend the most mornings around the house/ pool and we went out in the afternoons, which was perfect. Most sights/towns are really not that far and absolutely managable. Furthest we went was Carrera- being 2h away. So a daytrip to Pisa, Florence, Lucca, Siena and Chianti and also Livorno/the sea are easy to do if you dont mind a little driving. We found it a perfect point to explore this part of Toscana. St. Grimigano and Volterra being the closest. One evening we went for dinner at the farm close by, which was a really nice experience. There you can buy also some local produce like cheese, eggs, honey and wine. All in all we really loved it there.

Wonderful apartment in beautiful area

We have just returned from a weeks stay and were both so impressed with the thought that had gone into the accommodation. It was a very hot week but the air conditioning throughout worked perfectly and was a real relief every time we returned after a trip out and made for comfortable sleeping conditions too. The bed was really comfy and insect nets at every window and on the bedroom door were also really useful. It was perfectly situated for day trips to Florence, Pisa and Siena. San Gimignano was absolutely gorgeous and only 15 minutes away meaning we could arrive early, find a parking space with ease and see it before the masses descended upon the town by late morning. Upon arrival we were met by Olga who gave us a quick tour. The whole place was spotless and well equipped. The swimming pool is like paradise and on the whole the other guests were all looking for a quiet and relaxing week too. There was a very friendly atmosphere around the place. The only possible downside at all was that other than to load and unload your car needed to be left at the car park at the top of the “village”. This made for a quiet and safe place but it should be noted that this was quite a steep slope on uneven and loose ground for anyone with any mobility issues, bad knees, hips etc. Both the owner, Konstantin, and Olga who met us upon arrival were friendly, helpful and quick to reply to any emails or texts. This really was a near perfect holiday in absolutely beautiful surroundings. Wish we could have stayed for longer!

Schön mit kleinen Fehlern

Die Lage des Objekts war sehr schön, man hatte einen wunderbaren Blick, allerdings haben Kleinigkeiten den Eindruck getrübt. In der Küchenausstattung fehlten Kochlöffel und einige andere Dinge, die man für den täglichen Gebrauch benötigt. Schade auch Das nur wenig Geschirr und Gläser da waren. Die Ausstattung der Terrassen war leider auch nur rudimentär. Insgesamt lebt das Objekt von seiner schönen Renovierung, aber wie gesagt, es gibt auch Schattenseiten.

Ruhe und Erholung in traumhafter Umgebung

Der Urlaub war wunderschön. Wir haben ganz spontan gebucht,und so guten Email Kontakt zum Vermieter. Er hat spontan eine super Anreisebeschreibung gesandt. Die Lage des Appartement ist wie beschrieben eingetroffen. Olga hat uns empfangen und bei Fragen gern geholfen Ein altes Dorf 2 Terassen bzw ein Garten eine super Aussicht auf Volterra und das Tal. Das Appartement ist gut ausgestattet. Betten top Im Sonnenuntergang auf der Terasse sitzen,den Tag ausklingen lassen,nachdem man sich zuvor im super Pool entspannt oder abgekühlt hat, ist Urlaub. Am Pool war nie Stress. Die Nachbarappartment waren belegt,aber man sieht sich kurz und das wars. Die Stimmung im Dorf ist sehr entspannt gewesen Das Umland zu erkunden macht Spaß. Um die Ecke gab es eine kleine Fattoria ,wir haben dort gerne eingekauft. Noch nie solche Tomaten 🍅 gegessen. Wir kommen gerne wieder Liebe Grüße

Perfekte Entspannung

Mit dem Sonnenaufgang einen Espresso vor der Haustüre genießen mit Blick nach Volterra, danach eine Abkühlung im Pool mit herrlicher Aussicht über die Toskana danach ein Frühstück in absoluter Ruhe, was will man mehr? Super saubere Wohnung, die Küche perfekt ausgestattet, die Betten bequem, schnelles WLAN. Hatten noch nie so einen schönen Pool. Für uns war das der perfekte Urlaub mit Pool, Sightseeing und erholsamer Ruhe.

Le cadre et la piscine sont merveilleux, l'appartement parfait et spacieux bien que le canapé lit du salon soit un peu vieux et le matelas pas au niveau du reste. Il manque une lumière sur la terrasse de derrière car pour manger le soir sur la terrasse de devant à 4 très compliqué car la table est minuscule. La route pour y accéder est une route de gravier de 2 km pas très bien entretenue, mais dans l'ensemble très bonne location. Merci à Olga pour sont accueil...

Schöner Urlaub in der Toskana

Nachdem wir uns durch die Schotterstraße "gequält" hatten, kamen wir im kleinen schönen "Dorf" Mommialla an. Olga empfing uns freundlich und zeigte uns die sehr schöne Wohnung und den wunderschönen Pool. Man ist in 20 Minuten in San Gimignano und in einer halben Stunde in Volterra. Pisa, Lucca und Siena erreicht man zwischen einer Stunde und 1 1/2 Stunden. Der nächste Supermarkt ist in San Gimignano oder in Montaine. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und können die Ferienwohnung weiter empfehlen

Wunderbare Unterkunft

Sehr saubere, top ausgestattete Ferienwohnung in wunderschöner Lage. Der Pool von dem man eine tolle Aussicht über die Toscana hat ist auch sehr sauber und ordentlich gepflegt. Olga war super nett und jederzeit ansprechbar und Probleme konnten schnell gelöst werden. Der Vermieter Constantin hatte sich schon im Vorhinein extra zu glutunfreien Produkten im Supermarkt für uns erkundigt. Generell war es gar kein Problem in der Umgebung und in den naheliegenden wunderschönen Städtchen glutenfrei Pizza, Pasta, Eis und anderes zu essen. Vielen dank, wir kommen auf jeden fall wieder!

Tolle Anlage

Die gesamte Anlage mit tollem Pool ist sehr ruhig gelegen. Es gibt für jede Ferienwohnung einen Sonnenschirm und Liegen. Die Wohnung ist sehr gut eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter sowie mit Olga war perfekt. Man hat einen traumhaften Blick auf Volterra. Es ist ein guter Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge nach Florenz, Volterra und San Gimignano. In nur 5 Minuten zu Fuß erreicht man einen kleinen Bauernhof. Hier gibt es Käse, Eier, Honig und Marmelade. Wir haben uns sehr gut erholt.

Schöne Wohnung, toller Pool, ruhige Lage

Schöne Wohnung und toller Pool. Wenn man richtig ungestört Urlaub machen möchte, und auch den Pool nutzen möchte, dann ist das die richtige Lösung. Allerdings ist das Ganze doch ziemlich ab vom Schuss, und die Distanzen sind uns mit der Zeit etwas auf die Nerven gegangen...wenn man für ein Eis oder einfach zum Supermarkt locker 20min fahren muss...Wir waren mit 4- und 6jähriger Tochter dort, und abgesehen vom Pool gibt es keinen Spielplatz oder ähnliches. Man ist also auf gutes Wetter angewiesen. Aber das ist ja meistens der Fall :-)

Indeed, our village is "inside nature". We believe that this is our advantage - we are far from noisy cities. We have the sounds of birds and animals, not cars, a view of the Tuscan hills, not shops. I think that there are few such places, it is really unusual. The payment for this is the distance to the town (drive 15 minutes). Thanks for your feedback! It is very important for those who do not pay attention to the description of the features of our apartment. Vacation expectations are different for everyone. We are for those who enjoy the closeness of nature on vacation

Nous venons de passer un séjour fabuleux. Tout est si beau que l'on pourrait se croire dans un décor de carte postale. La piscine comme l'habitation sont superbes et offrent une vue à couper le souffle ! Pas une seule fausse note. Le lieu est propre, calme et authentique ! Les échanges avec le propriétaire sont excellents. Un grand merci à Olga, qui nous a accueilli sur place et nous a permis de passer le meilleur séjour possible malgré quelques petits soucis rencontrés sur place (voiture, santé) : elle s'est démenée afin que tout soit règlé le plus rapidement possible et que l'on puisse profiter. Ce fut très très appréciable. Nous recommandons vivement ce lieu et sommes déjà impatients d'y retourner un jour.

Wunderschöne Anlage für entspannte und ruhige Erholung

Die gesamte Anlage mit den kleinen Häuschen und Appartements ist sehr schön und sehr ruhig gelegen mit toller Aussicht von nahezu jeder Stelle. Unser Appartement war sauber und perfekt ausgestattet. Wir waren fast 2 Wochen dort und es hat an absolut nichts gemangelt. Vor dem Apartment gibt es einen kleinen Frühstückstisch und hinten eine private Terrasse mit schönem Tisch im Schatten einer kleinen Platane. Der Infinitypool ist aus Natursteinen gebaut und ebenfalls sehr sauber. Liegen und Schirme sind reichlich vorhanden und auf Grund von Corona personalisiert. Auch für Ausflüge mit dem Auto ist die Lage perfekt. Man ist schnell in San Gimignano und Umgebung und bis zum nächsten großen Supermarkt ist es auch nicht weiter als 20 Minuten. Auch der Kontakt mit dem Gastgeber und vor allem Betreuerin Olga lief perfekt. Es wurde schnell und spontan auf alle Wünsche eingegangen. Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit und bis zum nächsten Mal!

Posto da favola. Relax e silenzio con tutte le comodità.

Posto incantevole all'insegna del relax e quiete. Posto strategico per girare la Toscana. Piscina bellissima pulita per tutti i gusti. Appartamenti freschi con tutti i confort. Posto consigliato a famiglie sportive coppie in relax e tutto all'insegna del buon cibo nei vari agriturismi e panorami mozzafiato. Se cercate un posto in centro alla ricerca della movida fuori porta non lo consiglio. Per tutto quanto descritto rimarrete soddisfatti. Sconsigliato alle persone pigre, un po di salite discese sterrate.

We live in Tuscany.

Why they chose this property

We like all Tuscany but when a few years ago we found Mommialla we realized that this is the best place of what we have seen before. We have bought this apartment and now we are happy to share our joy of real Tuscany with our guests.

What makes this property unique

Our appartment is in a lovely reconstructed authentic village rebuilt in details from ancient ruins. The apartment is made in an adorable Tuscany style, which is combined with a comfortable modern equipment. For example there is excellent morden-equipped pool in borgo shaped and designed lake alike.
It is very attractive for us that our Casa is placed among wildlife area. We like that the air is filled with the scent of flowers and wild herbs. And we very like absolute silence at night which can be broken only by sounds of nature.
We like to travel around a lot by car because there are many interesting places not far from borgo we are staying in.
During our stay we are filled with joy and full of impressions of peaceful and calm surroundings.
