Robert and I (Joanne) run a whale watching business on a Tall Ship in St. Andrews, NB. Just over one hour drive away from Eastport. See
Joanne Carney purchased this apartment in 2010
We love our location for it's private setting, hillside views and proximity to the water. Eastport is a wonderful community full of artists, history and beauty. We also have a larger second rental recently listed: 4135787. You can rent both for a larger family group.
New construction with wood, slate and tile flooring and a private lower patio, back yard. Such a wonderfully quiet location without a sound at night. (dead end street). Some water view and treed backyard. Walk down the hill to the beach for beach combing during the day and watching the lighthouse lights in the evening. 50% whale watching tickets is Saint Andrews NB with one week stays.
We like the location very much as it was very near downtown Eastport. Neighborhood quiet and nice to walk through. Kitchen had most everything needed for cooking; bathroom bright, clean and modern; apartment adequately roomy for 2 people and 2 small dogs. Would have been fun to use the shared porch and grill if the weather had cooperated. Only cons are the futon...not very comfortable and awkward to turn up and down as needed; also key entry system - double locks on the doors a good idea but having to wiggle, jiggle, pull and push...just frustrating. Would highly recommend sofa bed and better door locking system.
Our two day stay in this great apartment was a surprise 60th birthday present for my husband! We loved the place and the location near the water. Everything we needed, and then some, was provided. It was just great! Eastport was beautiful! We took a trip to Canada (only 40 minutes away) and visited St. Stephens and St. Andrews! Visited the island of Campobello, visited Franklin Roosevelt's summer home and drove to the lighthouse where we saw porpoises and, even, a whale!! My husband was so thrilled with everything! We'd do this again in a heartbeat!!
Joanne has made a lovely, high quality apartment attached to the main house and nestled behind the garage. Super for a couple, but can sleep 4. Suggest the name "Jolly Breeze" by the entry door. We expect to return in the future if Joanne will have us. Thank you for your detailed directions and apartment. The shared laundry facilities were real handy after a week of traveling. Thanks again, Carol and Joe
This was my second stay! Such a nice, clean, well-equiped apartment. Terrific quiet street with nice neighbors, a short walk to the beautiful views at Harris Point. This time I was able to see the eagle's nest from the Harris Point cabins - the juvenile has been trying to fledge, it has been fun to check daily. I had a marvelous day whale watching on the Jolly Breeze, the day was glorious, saw finback whales, seals, porpoises, eagles, topped off by delicious pea soup made by Joanne. Eastport is a wonderful town, and the Carneys are terrific hosts!
I stayed for over 2 weeks at Joanne and Rob's apartment on Harris Point in Eastport. The place was super comfortable, much more spacious than the photos show. Fully equipped with clean, new fixtures. Access to a great laundry room. But the best part is the location, on a quiet street on Harris Point, you can walk to the point in a minute and enjoy lovely Bay views both east and west! It is about a 1.5 mile walk to town, very scenic. It became a ritual for me, walk to town for a pastry or lobster roll depending on time of day, then walk back. I had my two small dogs with me and and the yard was perfect. In fact I am back for a second stay, for a month this time, before I return home to California. Oh and I look forward to a trip on their whale watching boat, the Jolly Breeze, in July.
What a wonderful location in Eastport! This cottage is well equipped and comfortable. The perfect place for a getaway in this part of Maine. It had everything we needed and out 17 year old Maine Coon loved it. Easy drive to Campobello and Qouddy Head as well as the shops and restaurants in Eastport.
Eastport is an island in the Bay of Fundy with wonderful waterviews abounding. Take a stroll along the beach, pick sea glass and shells and watch a whale blow off in the water. Take a boat out whale watching. (50% off Jollybreeze whale watching with one week rentals). Explore historic downtown with many art galleries. Hike at Shackford State Park for excellent vistas. Catch of view of the Bald Eagles soaring on the wind currents out the back porch. Fire up the BBQ and relax on the back deck. Many festivals including the largest pirate festival on the East Coast! Take a day trip on the ferries over to Deer Island and Campobello Island to visit the picturesque lighthouses and Roosevelt's summer home.
