Overview

About the property

Townhome, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

This recently constructed, and beautifully furnished end unit is in the premier secure gated community of Barrier Dunes, You'll feel special from the moment you arrive!

Mature landscaping with palm tree, boardwalks, stocked fishing ponds, tennis courts, and 2 outdoor pools will affirm you've made the best selection on the cape. But that's just the beginning! Stroll a few hundred feet and cross over the stunning 20' high sand dunes to the sugary white sand beach fronting the Gulf of Mexico.

One look and you'll know why 'Dr. Beach' declared it America's #1 beach. At first glance, be amazed at the splendid serenity, then look for the dolphins jumping in the surf, and come again and again for the magnificent sunsets over the sparkling water.

This isn't the overdeveloped crush and hurried pace of Central and South Florida. It is THE antidote to the busy lives we as Americans are consumed with. Whether alone, with a best friend, or your family; this is the place to reconnect with nature and each other.

Opportunities of a simple kind abound: shelling, walks along the beach and playing in the surf, fishing from the shore and the ponds, a round of tennis, splashing in the pool, grillling the local seafood on the deck, riding bikes on the quiet streets of Barrier Dunes, and adjacent St. Joseph Beach State Park while observing abundant wildlife. What'll it be for you? I feel more relaxed just telling you about it! Better still, all this is yours without getting back in your car.

OK, so your curious about the rest of the area. Go explore. There's shopping, galleries, restaurants, and more stretching from Mexico Beach through Port St. Joe past Eastpoint and St. George Island to Appalachicola with it's historic homes to Carrabelle. All within an hour drive. Slightly further and you can take a guided a boat trip at Wakulla Springs and see an incredible amount and variety of birds and my favorite, the alligators.

I've had the good fortune to travel in over 30 countries and have been visiting Florida for as many years. However, when my wife brought me to Barrier Dunes on Cape San Blas, I knew we'd found something special. Six weeks later we closed on our townhome and now we have the pleasure of extending a welcome to you to come and share this piece of paradise. Hope to hear from you soon!

About Chris

I am a retired art teacher from the Chicago area. Our family loves the beach at Cape San Blas. Our place is beautifully decorated. We are an end unit, which let's more light in, and is more spacious. We have a new refrigerator, gas grill, and air conditioning unit purchased in the last year. We also just upgraded 2 flat screen TV's. We are located right near, 30 seconds, to the pool and tennis courts. It is a 90 second walk over the boardwalks to the beach. We appreciate the fact that we can leave our chairs and umbrella up all week at the beach and not carry them back and forth Our deck has morning sun. We love to bike and hike in the St. Joe Peninsula State Park. We love to eat the great seafood in the nearby restaurants.

Chris purchased this townhome in 2004

Why Chris chose Florida Main North West

We purchased our townhome in 2004 from an NFL football player. We love the uncrowded, sugary white sand beaches of the Florida panhandle. We enjoy the great fishing eating, shelling, biking, and relaxing at the gated community of Barrier Dunes

What makes this townhome unique

We love the small town of Port St. Joe. We shuck our own oysters that we purchase by the pound. We enjoy the most beautiful sunsets over the water. We also enjoy the shopping and great restaurants in historic Appalaciocola, the 2nd oldest city in Florida, only 30 minutes away. Also, we never miss a dinner at the Indian Pass Raw Bar during our visits. We take part in the several local activities whenever we can.

Hi Chris!

Just wanted to send a quick note to let you know what a great time we had at the condo. It was absolutely perfect for us. We really enjoyed everything from the pools, beach, sunsets and the wonderful atmosphere and people at Barrier Dunes. What a great vacation spot you have! We will definitely be planning a return trip next spring! Thanks again! Dave

I was really taken back by the way Chris responded to the concerns I had during our visit. The air unit on third level was not working. Chris asked if we could sleep on second floor because it was Father's Day and Sunday. We had a full house, so this was not possible. She called the service but mentioned she would have to pay a premium as it was a holiday. We encountered a severe storm and tornado alarms went off two days during our stay. I contacted Chris to see if it were possible to stay one additional hour because of tornado warnings in our travel path. At first I was told yes but end of conversation resulted in a no, she could not have us in the way of the cleaning lady. I said fine, me and my two small children would drive thru the storm. At this point it was 9:30 and checkout was at 10, the cleaning lady arrived and told us we were suppose to be out. I told her we had 30 minutes and I needed the time to finish packing. She was extremely rude and combative in front of my two small children so I told her to come back in 30 minutes and closed the door. Her phone said 10:30 and mine said 9:30, w e were standing on opposite sides of the door. I was informed that the time zone goes back and forth depending on where you are on the cape. I was following what my iPhone, iPhone watch and tv said. Chris then called to tell me she changed her mind we could stay. I was beyond stressed about the weather conditions, Chris telling me no to waiting until the storm passed, and the cleaning lady. I told Chris we were leaving and could not believe we had been treated so poorly on both ends. She then blamed me for closing the door on the cleaning lady and told me she was in a bind because the lady refused to clean and she had renters coming the following day. She complained about paying the premium and the cleaning lady but those issues go with having a rental property and should not be placed upon the renter. She continued to call three times to explain how the time change because we were so close to the line and she had no one to clean the unit.

Besides the interaction with the owner, my family stepped on sand spurs embedded in the carpet and rugs as they were not vacuumed thoroughly before check-in. There were no shower heads, my kids said it felt like a sand storm in the shower. Also the blinds on the main and top levels are broken sun comes in early. With all that being said, the Cape is absolutely beautiful!

Owner's Response: Thanks for renting with us and for your feedback. I only mentioned all sleep on one level just in case that we might not get an AC repair man there on Sunday afternoon because it was Father’s Day. We have always responded immediately to any issues our guests contact us with regardless of time of day, or price, or weekend/holiday service required. Luckily the AC was up and running in the upstairs within a couple of hours. As for check out time, I always clearly state that check in time and check out time are on Eastern Standard Time. So the cleaning service showed up ½ hour past check out time. We have modern water saver showerheads in both of the bathrooms, which are adjustable. We are very sorry you feel this way; but the negative review of our property and how I interact with our guests is very different from the overwhelmingly positive reviews we have always received. Chris

Good condo in wonderful pet friendly location.

  • 4 of 5

The condo was as advertised and check in was easy. Cape San Blas was wonderful. Quiet and beautiful pet friendly beaches. The condo has easy access. It was clean and inviting. The upstairs however stays hot and was 75 degrees for our entire stay....With the blinds never being opened. We could not locate the outside trash cans but other than that an enjoyable stay. We would book it again!

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed your stay at our lovely unit. The air conditioning units are controlled by two thermostats one upstairs & one on the main floor in the kitchen. I always encourage my guests to call if anything seems out of order and get things promptly resolved. Garbage cans are located in a wooden enclosure under the ac units in the carport. Once again glad you enjoyed your stay!

Wonderful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We rented this beautiful condo for a month and it was wonderful. Exceptionally clean and well stocked and well as central to everything in the complex. The beaches are astounding and our dogs had the time of their life! The owners were responsive and easy to work with. We hope to go back. Thank you!

Another great stay at the Cape

  • 5 of 5

We frequent the Cape and have stayed in many places. Since we were bringing our dogs this time, we decided to stay here, and we didn't regret it! The place was clean and adequately equipped for our stay. I would definitely recommend it and will likely select it again in the future!
