Overview

About the property

Cottage, Studio + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

The dream of finding that private spot, nestled in the jungle among nature and wildlife, is fulfilled by a stay in Casa Selva at Osa Vistas. Sit on the porch overlooking the Pacific shoreline, whitewater playing on the rocks below. Watch the toucans and a myriad of bird life pass right by. White face and Howler monkey's, sloths and pizotes are frequently seen passing through the canopy overhead.

The villa is removed from the hustle and bustle, not only of 'back home', but the feeling of being removed from the world is palpable. Numerous guests have commented on the 'therapeutic affect' of Casa Selva. You truly unwind here. You can enjoy solitude on your balcony or visit our porch/pool area to exchange adventure stories. Because there is only one other rental casa on our property it is always an intimate gathering! When we are not available, and the guests ask for a referral to something similar, we are hard-pressed to come up with the answer. There simply isn't one.

From Casa Selva you can drive 15 minutes to either the world famous surf town of Dominical, or the thriving community of Uvita, complete with grocery stores, banks, ATMs, pharmacies, etc. Numerous sites and activities are all around: horseback waterfall tours, whale and dolphin tours, sport fishing, turtle vigilance, diving, surfing, ATV tours, animal sanctuary, the list goes on. Or, how about some quiet time on your porch with a good book? A stay at Casa Selva includes access to the pool, which overlooks the entire southern coastline all the way to the Osa Peninsula...hence our property name!

Questions? We are available to chat via phone, Skype, by email or thru our website at www.osavistas.com

Keywords: honeymoon, romantic getaway, jungle hideaway, additional jungle villas available if needed. Secluded in nature for privacy, but close enough to beaches, surfing, waterfalls, horseback riding, zip-lining, nature reserves, fabulous restaurants and spas, snorkeling and scuba, etc...

Why Diane Connors chose Dominicalito

We did one long trip thru Costa Rica & fell in love with this area in particular & thought it would appeal to other travelers like us so, here we are! We really love and enjoy, the hospitality biz so now we live and work at what we love to do. Peter spends hours in the gardens, he loves to plant things that grow unbelievably quickly! We're here to help with what ever the guests may need & yet give you total privacy at your casita.

What makes this cottage unique

This is a place to let your hair down, relax and enjoy nature. Because we are so close to the jungle (indeed we have a large amount on our property), you will see more wildlife here than in other rentals. Both howler & white faced monkeys frequently use our trees as a path from one valley to another.

You can conveniently do as much or as little as you like while you're here. It's a very central location for the area.

Great stay in the jungle house

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying in this well kept cottage. Lots of animals and the sound of the jungle early in the morning and at dusk. If you want to enjoy the sound of the Pacific for twenty four hours, this is the right place to go.

Nice and helpful hosts. Thank you, Diana & Peter

Casita manque d'amour (entretien)

  • 3 of 5

Owner's Response: I am very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. If you had read my informational emails & downloaded the Homeaway app, as I advised in that email, you would have had access to my directions. I feel this stay would have been better if you had read our listing more thoroughly since all the information regarding equipment is clearly stated there. Brief power outages are frequent and cover large areas in this part of CR...we cannot affect this since it is a government run company. The bathroom door is fixed! No one ever mentioned this to us and we are sorry! Indeed, all my reviews are very positive with the exception of yours. This home was given to you in a very clean state but what we found after you left was appalling. The countertops were covered with empty & partially empty bottles & OPEN FOOD CONTAINERS! You neglected to heed the short list of tips in your casita & we are very lucky that there wasn't a pest problem as a result. I feel this impression is due to lack of preparedness on your part. It IS a jungle out there & you must respect it & dwell accordingly.

Magical casita - jungle living with ocean breezes and sound of surf. Pura vida!

  • 5 of 5

We were here for a week and were sad to leave this airy, comfortable home on the Costa Ballena. We loved the simplicity of life in Casa Selva, and the location was perfect for our explorations.

Pros:

- Diane communicated everything we needed to know for arriving. She and Peter gave us a warm welcome and were up for a chat while respecting our privacy.

- Simple kitchen set up, but we had all we needed, including a strong blender for daily fresh fruit smoothies.

- Sunsets and moonlight, serenaded by the sounds of the jungle. Watch for bioluminescent click beetles, fireflies, bats by night and so many varieties of birds and butterflies by day. We even saw a sloth thanks to Diane alerting us.

- Perfect location to explore Nauyaca Falls, the Whale Tail (Playa Uvita - best swimming if you're not comfortable with surf), towns of Ojochal, Uvita and Dominical, Alturas Sanctuary (wildlife rescue and rehab), and so much more.

- Open air, bug-free living and deck sitting, even at night

Tips:

- Take Diane's advice to arrive before dark. It's easy once you've done the route once but would be challenging for your first visit.

- Bring biodegradable hand soap (need to provide your own) and shampoo, etc. Graywater runs right into the jungle, so help keep phosphates out of the jungle ecosystem!

- Ask what day grounds work will be done and plan an away adventure. Leaf blowers are... loud.

- Go to Sud in Ojochal on Tuesday night. Free and easy-to-follow Latin Dance lessons by the owner, Alex, or one of his excellent staff. Say hi to Jose if you go.

- Swim at Villa Leonor at 4 pm and watch the sunset in what must be one of the prettiest little coves I've ever seen. We had the good fortune of seeing the full moon rise over the mountains behind us while watching the sunset in front of us, all in fun, warm waves. Perfection!

- Stay at Casa Selva as long as you can. :)

Truly Paradise

  • 5 of 5

The Casa is beautiful and the wildlife you see from the front porch is incredible. We saw Toucans from the porch everyday. The pool is excellent and the view from there is like a postcard, just breath taking. Diane and Peter are wonderful host and we would definitely stay there again! Thanks Diane & Peter for a wonderful stay! Mike & Kelly

Great location in the jungle.

  • 5 of 5

We loved our week in Costa Rica. Waking up to the sounds of howler monkeys and toucans. The owners were available and helpful pointing us in the right direction several times. The road up the mountain is exactly as advertised. You will need 4wd. Pro-tip take the private tour with their gardener Marvin. He is great and provides an authentic Tico adventure that you won’t forget.

Car: necessary

When we are feeling vigorous, there is an amazing ocean view hill climb that can be walked, guaranteed to burn off a few pounds during your stay. There is also a Gym in Uvita and lots of Yoga and Pilates studios to choose from. There is a health and beauty spa where you turn off of the highway to come up to the house. The spa features some of the latest health treatments: mud packs, heated stones, massage and so on

We are also very close to Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary which is a great place to see the animals up close. Some are being rehabbed for release into the wild which others are permanent residents due to injuries.
