We couldn't have enjoyed our stay more!

  • 5 of 5

Simonetta has created a peaceful and very comfortable hideaway overlooking the stunning Duomo across the valley of Orvieto. Everything you could need is at your disposal and the location is convenient for touring Umbria. Don't miss Cevita di Bagnoregio, only a short drive from the house. For a fabulous dinner in a most attractive restaurant, try Il giglio d'Oro,directly across the piazza from the duomo.

We are sorry we didn't book at least a week at Simonetta's...the next time we shall. Mille Grazie!!

Second Visit Even Better

  • 5 of 5

Two years after our first visit to Orvieto and Le Velette we returned with high expectations. We left after 5 days and were even more satisfied with this stay.

Simonetta and Corrado have maintained their wonderful property at the same high standard as when we made our first visit. The farmhouse has everything you need to enjoy a comfortable stay in the area. The property is on a wonderful estate of vineyards and olive trees.

We had promised our granddaughter a trip to Rome with the proviso that she had to allow us to spend a few days in the Orvieto area before heading to Rome. She was very pleased that we showed her more than just Rome. We were able to take a day trip with her to Assisi, as well as another day trip to nearby Civita. Corrado spent an afternoon with our granddaughter and us explaining the history of the property as well as giving us a wonderful explanation of the processes for producing wine and olive oil. We toured the underground wine cellars and tasted wonderful wine. Simonetta is a wonderful, knowledgeable and calm hostess who, as always, had answers to our questions.

We look forward to staying here again. In the meantime, thanks to Simonetta and Corrado for making our stay so comfortable.

Magical!

  • 5 of 5

Our visit to Il Due apartment on the Tenuta Le Velette vineyard estate could not have been better. It was everything as advertised and more. Simonetta could not have been nicer or more accomodating. A wonderful bottle of Le Velette wine was waiting for us, and the apartment could not have been more pleasant. It was immaculate and very comfortable.

The location is magical, overlooking Orvieto and in the middle of a vineyard during grape harvesting time. The estate has trails to walk among the vines and winery. Simonetta invited us to join a wine experience of a visiting Rick Steves tour group. It was wonderful. Corrado met us and took the time to explain the history of the property and the wine production.

It is an easy car ride to Orvieto and with excellent connections to the other wonderful Umbrian towns, and to the train station with excellent connections to Rome and Florence.

Not only would we recommend this property to friends and relatives, we are looking forward to returning for a longer visit, using this as a home base to explore more of Umbria and to visit Rome and Florence. Wonderful hosts, wonderful area and wonderful property!

Superb place, location and hosts!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the orvieto area while staying at Simonetta and Corrado's lovely farmhouse. It is situated in a large Vineyard along the crest of the ridge that looks across a deep gorge directly at Orvieto on the next ridge over. The view is lovely. Apples figs and of course grapes surround the apartment. Apartment itself is spacious comma very nicely decorated and very comfortable. It would not be ideal for anyone with mobility limitations due to a fairly narrow circular stairway but we had no problems with it. A well-stocked kitchen, good internet, a nice bed and beautiful garden areas all contributed 28 peaceful and comfortable environment. We spoke mostly with Simonetta who was a lovely, calm and helpful hostess. Corrado was also an amiable host. The location was excellent for exploring Umbria and southern Tuscany by car (the major north-south highway is very close) and Orvieto is only 2 miles away. We were pleased inevery respect.

Incredible beauty and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely week my wife and I had in this lovely villa surrounded by vinyards and olive groves. Simonetta and her husband took care of our every need, gave us recommendations, and made our stay so nice. We walked all over the large estate, enjoyed a fantastic wine tasting with a great tour of the main house and cellars, and just had a wonderful week. I highly recommend staying here. It is clean, comfortable, and historic and the views are awesome. The added bonus is their lovely dog who will steal your heart and accompany you on walks. She checks in every evening to say hi and see how you are.

Thanks again Simonetta and Corado for making our stay so nice.

Vineyard Oasis

  • 5 of 5

What else can we say that others have not already said? This vineyard guest house on Tenuta Le Velette was beyond our wildest imagination. Simonetta and Corado have a great respect for the land and it's rich Etruscan history and all this shows beautifully in the newly constructed guest house and on the extensive property. We stayed only 3 nights but wish we could have stayed longer. We arrived at the end of the grape harvest and were able to watch first hand the hard work that goes on at this time of year. We also were able to share in a food and wine tasting at the beautiful palazzo on the estate where we even toured the cave wine cellars with Cecelia, Corado's sister. The guest house itself is perfectly appointed with windows and walk outs showing off the beauty of the surrounding area. Pots of herbs were abundant and used regularly during our cooking of our evening meal. We sipped wine and sampled local cheeses and meats while we watched the sunset over Orvieto in the distance and spent time walking the trails on the estate. We were so relaxed here that we found ourselves happy to explore the property, but that being said, this is a good starting point for any day trip you would like to make. A car is needed and we marked the location on our GPS once we arrived, so that at the end of the day at night we could easily find it again as the roads are dark and winding. Simonetta sent us detailed directions prior to our arrival and they were perfect. We stopped en route in the local co-op to pick up groceries as once we arrived at the property, we did not want to venture out again that day, but chose instead to uncork some wine, prepare some appetizers and enjoy the beauty of the area. We hope to be back again one day for a longer stay!
