My Orvieto House
In 1998 I purchased this house located in the oldest part of Orvieto. For 13 years we have been working to restore it to its current condition, first with my friend the architect Steve Farneth, principal of ARG of San Francisco, later with Gianfranco Pigozzi, a young brilliant Orvieto architect.
The extensive restorations on the house were done maintaining its original character that is integral part of the surrounding medieval neighborhood.
San Giovenale, the oldest Orvieto Church, built in 1004, is just half a block away. Orvieto is divided in four quarters (Quartieri) and San Giovenale is one of them.
Starting in 2015 this house will be available for rent on a minimum weekly basis to friends and lovers of Orvieto. When you contact me, I will tell you about my love for a town that has a deep touching human dimension, but most important, I will provide you all the information you may need before you leave and provide you with the local contacts for personal assistance once you get there.
Please look at the video and pictures, which are important as an introduction to an unforgettable experience for your stay in Orvieto.

Beautiful property and great location. A few details overlooked.
Architectural restoration was beautiful. Wasn’t informed that local manager wasn’t available until we arrived and called the owner. Manager initially fixed the internet and water tap that was loose. Water heater was not fixed. Ignored communications to again fix the internet - so were without internet for 80% of the trip. Not to mention no hot water in master bath and kitchen for most of the trip.
We would stay again if convinced these issues are addressed.
The Manager was expecting guest's arrival for the day before as originally scheduled. He was worried when he heard that the arrival was postponed because he had another commitment. Myself, the owner, and the Manager could not resolve the problems reported and we apologize.
Unbelievable house in an amazing city
This place is truly amazing - all the creature comforts of the 21st century meets intertwined with 2500 years of history under one roof. If you are looking for a place to stay in Orvieto, look no further. My teenage children (and wife) can't stop talking about this place. Thanks for sharing your home with us - we will never forget this experience!

Xmas vacation in Orvieto
My wife and I met Gianfranco in Orvieto a couple years ago when he was there checking on the house remodel. We called him in the beginning on 2014 to see if the house was done and we told him we were going to Orvieto in Dec.and he said it would be done and we could be the first to rent it. We did not hesitate and told him we would love to as we knew the location of the house in town and how great that is. When we got to town, Sylvia and Julio met us at the square and took us to the house to show us and answer any questions we may have about the house. Everything was perfect and we felt right at home, you could not ask for anything more and Sylvia and Julio are only a phone call away plus they have a family business rite in town. Orvieto is a wonderful town to spend time in as this was our 4th time there, it is also a wonderful place to base yourself and do day trips to many other towns and villages. We were there for 3 weeks with a car, but you have the option of using the train as the station is at the lower part of town or renting a car next to the train station. Gianfranco was wonderful to deal with, was always easy to reach by phone or e-mail. I would have no problem telling people to rent this house because you will feel right at home while being in Italy. I love to cook, so I cooked about half the time and we went out the other times. Friends of ours came and spent a week with us and loved the house and time in town. I would highly recommend this house to anyone.
From this house you will enjoy an unobstructed view of the lower valley and spectacular surrounding hillsides that divide the roads leading to Rome and Bolsena, famous for it's beautiful lake. Being on the west side of town, this is where people come to enjoy clean and colorful sunsets. Once in Orvieto, you will want to discover the city, with its museums, shops, leisurely strolls, many fine restaurants and one of the best Cathedrals of all of Italy. Everything is a short walk away, in fact you do not need a car in Orvieto. Around Orvieto's Cathedral you have most of the museums, the Popes' Palace, and a teeming city life. Driving up to Orvieto you can visit the Etruscan Cemetery called Necropoli di Crocifisso del Tufo. Rome is 65 miles away - 1 hour by car or by train. Florence is 110 miles away. You can reach both Rome or Florence by train or by freeway. Orvieto has a train station and next to it the entrance to the freeway.
