Experience a vacation paradise while enjoying Trout Lake's spectacular views from the waterfront hot tub. This lake is surrounded by 1600 acres of state forest preserving a sanctuary ideal for swimming, paddling, or cruising around in our provided pontoon boat. Enjoy fishing for rainbow or lake trout, large-mouth or small-mouth bass, perch, or rock bass.

The water's edge provides a safe, sandy swimming area, a raft to swim out to, a waterfront hot tub, a 13' pontoon boat with 10hp motor, kayaks and paddle board. The cottage also includes a barbecue grill, fire pit, and a smart tv with high speed wireless fiber optic internet. Provided with the rental: firewood for wood stove and fire pit, gas for pontoon boat, and propane for gas grill.

This cozy cottage features an open floor plan with a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious living room that offers beautiful views of the lake through large windows. The bathroom was fully renovated in 2024 for a fresh, modern feel.

Enjoy plenty of seating around the large dining table and on comfortable couches—one of which is a full-size sleeper sofa. The living area also includes a soapstone wood stove for added charm and warmth, as well as a flat-screen smart TV for your entertainment.

Sleeping arrangements include:

A bedroom with a king-size bed, air conditioning, and an in-wall heater

A second bedroom with a queen-size bed, air conditioning, and an in-wall heater

A loft bedroom with two twin beds

Guests must provide their own life jackets as well as sheets and towels (all other bedding is provided).

Pets are allowed for a fee of $75 per pet.

Best vacation!

This cottage exceeded my expectations it was very clean and welcoming, we enjoyed the hot tub by the water, we took the boat out to enjoy the lake, this was my.first trip with my grandson and he absolutely loved it, we will definitely be making this a yearly trip

Cozy lake house

Cozy well maintained lake house with all the amenities you need for your stay. Includes a new bathroom and full kitchen supplies. We enjoyed a care free week on this quiet and relaxing lake and will definitely be back.

A great stay!

We had a great time! Early August turned out to be a great time to stay at Trout lake. The water as warm for swimming, the fishing was good, and there were very few bugs. The cabin was very comfortable and well stocked with all the pans and dishes we needed for meals. The pontoon boat, kayaks, paddle board and hot tub were all put to good use. All in all, a great trip.

Relaxing lakeside

Just as described. Comfortable and clean. We had a great time fishing and paddle boarding on the lake. The hot tub and pontoon boat were added bonus’s.

A very peaceful lake

We had a nice get away The neighbors D.J. and Kim were so great with our kids , They let them play on their sandy beach and play with their little dog( which made this a great time for your granddaughter with special needs). And my husband enjoyed his visits with D.J. It was really nice to have all the different things to use in the lake Very peaceful

Beautiful views, cozy lakefront cabin on Trout lake.

Cozy lake front cabin with a swim area near the dock and a pontoon boat which was perfect for exploring the lake. Nice quiet area, amazing views, clean and well maintained. The kitchen was very well equipped and provided everything we needed to prepare our meals. Bring your own drinking water. The wood burning stove kept us warm and added to the cozy feel. Amazing views of the lake and trees from the many, large windows. The hot tub near the water was relaxing. Perfect place to spend a Fall weekend.

Great couple of weeks!

We’ve rented at a number of cottages on Trout Lake and this is among our favorites. We love the waterfront, the fire pit, the hot tub and the rustic nature of the cottage. It only has one bathroom, but the bathroom is very nice. We did have to supplement the glassware, which we left for future guests, but otherwise we were happy with the kitchenware. The dishwasher worked well. We also liked the microwave and oven set up. We would happily stay here again!

Perfect Fall Getaway!

This cabin is great. It totally exceeds our expectations. You have a beautiful cabin and layout with all the comforts of home and more including TV, VCR, sterio, wood stove, hot tub and washer/dryer. Where else can you go and have all of this and not pay an arm and a leg for all of these extras? The owners do everything they can to accommodate your vacation and make it a great experience. The view from the cabin is breathtaking. We loved using the motorboat and tour around the lake and see all the beauty this area holds. This was our fourth time renting from the owners and we anticipate many more to come.

A wonderful escape

This fabulous cabin in the woods was the perfect retreat for our family of 5 and our dog. The building suited all our needs with enough space to congregate as well as relax. The views are amazing, you are always shaded and in about 10 seconds you can be in the lake. To that end, the boats, the dock, the floating dock and nearby rocks all make the "beach" area versatile and lots of fun. The view from the hot tub isn't bad either. Without the pandemic we may have explored more of the area--though the Price Chopper in Gouvernor has all you'd want and isn't too far--but in the end this place had all we needed--even our three adolescents did not complain. If you want to relax and slow down the pace of life we highly recommend staying here.

Cabin with a beautiful Lake

This is a very nice property with more positives than negatives.I'll put the negatives first: No curtains on windows other than in the bedrooms/bathroom. This one seems kind of odd, but there is no way to cover the windows in the kitchen, dining room, or living room (which faces the lake). This combined with slightly close neighbors means that the lights they leave on or conversations can be seen and heard. I could not get the side door to lock. The only other part that can be considered a negative is that the walk to the dock has roots around the area that are uneven. There is a handle bar to assist when walking up and down to help maintain balance.Now the positives: Incredibly well furnished, all knives, cutlery, pots, pans, trays, cutting boards were well kept. The coaches recline and are comfortable. The dishwasher, clothes washer and dryer all worked well. The fire pit is at a good location with plentiful firewood. The gas grill worked great. The hot tub is large with strong jets and fireflies come out at night. The mosquitos were only active on one of the four nights I stayed. The lake is very beautiful and worth exploring and admiring. There's a lot of small wildlife around like chipmunks, robins, red squirrels, a cat, and countless unique birds singing and living around the lake. We put up a hammock and the days couldn't be more relaxing.

Another great Trout Lake vacation!

This was our second year at this property and our third time renting from the Clarks. They have exceeded our expectations each and every time (the welcoming gifts were new this year- and much enjoyed!) This cabin is adorable, charming, and clean. It comfortably fits my family of five and my in-laws. The kitchen is relatively well stocked. The grill is like-new. The fire pit is cozy with lots of seating. The hot tub is welcome after a sunny day in the water or a chilly, rainy day inside. The loons are fascinating to watch and listen to. The sunsets are gloriously reflected in the water. A week of boating, swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, trail running and fishing- something for everyone in an age range from 9-69. Thank you again to the Clark’s! We will be back!

A Place Next to Heaven

Lakeside Cottage, Trout Lake, is a place next to heaven! The cabin is perfect beyond belief re ambiance & amenities if atmosphere & comfort are important to you. If you are into boating, it is all there from Boston Whaler with 6.6.HP motor, 2 kayaks, & flat bottom canoe. If fishing is your thing, the bass are waiting for you in number, catch, & size. We caught & released 28 in 4 days that we fished, 2-3 people, plus 6 to 10 more jumped off the line boat side, 20", 18 ", 17" 15", & the rest mostly 10-12". There are trout too near the shore & in the middle of the lake which evaded our catch in the few hours we gave to their pursuit. Even heaven can be improved. You must bring bottled water to drink (6 + gallons for a week). And, a sailboat would be great fun.

Nice relaxing place to stay!

This house was in excellent clean condition when we arrived. The description was very accurate. The lake was amazing! It was so nice to have the use of a pontoon boat and kayaks. We never used the hot tub but it did look inviting! The lake was quiet this time of year and very relaxing! The only reason for 4 stars and something we would suggest if your planning to come to the house is that you use a vehicle with higher clearance. The road to the house was very rutted and washed out. We were glad to have our truck with us and even then we didn't enjoy driving it. Glad it was a relatively short drive to the home. It wouldn't deter us from renting the home again! There wasn't much in town except a small convenience store and a bar. The drive to a much larger town was about 25 minutes. Lots of hiking trails and state parks in the area. We would recommend it to friends!

Beautiful stay on the lake!

They provide all the comforts, beautiful cabin! Lots of extras included. The host replied very quickly to my very early morning messages. “Sorry, Sharon…I’m so used to operating early am”. Highly recommend staying at this location-the area is very nice.

Should have been paradise

Overall 1 star rating is due to the poor attitude of the owner John. Cottage is very rustic. The bed in the master bedroom has such a sink hole on one side it makes it difficult to sleep and a need for a chiropractor appointment. There are very specific directions to start a fire and we were not left supplies. While John and Donna were responsive, John was very rude and made a snarky remark that we didnt go get twigs from outside after saying it had just rained for 10 days. They did refund cleaning fee. Windows do not lock and John rolls his eyes about you "not being the first to ask for locking windows and doors" and excuses it by saying "you're in the safest place around and the sheriff is at the end of the lake". Required to stay three nights during the off season and the hot tub didn't work (entire reason we chose location). Pontoon boat is provided but navigation lights have been removed as owners do not want night usage. These lights are required by the US Coast Guard and make this craft illegal and unsafe to operate.

Perfect Getaway

We just love coming here to this little slice of heaven. The location is so tranquil and really forces you to just chill, take a deep breath and appreciate your surroundings. We spent every day on the boat, drifting, fishing and exploring. You can't beat evenings by the fire pit and/or lounging in the hot tub. Tranquil Lake House with All the Amenities

Visited the lake house with a group of friends and this place checked all the boxes for a fun-filled, relaxing week on the lake. The house had everything we needed for cooking and cleaning. The pontoon boat and various watercraft were a joy each day. And you simply can’t beat stargazing from the hot tub right on the water. The one thing we didn’t realize from the listing is how close the house is to neighboring homes - but the neighbors we did meet were all welcoming and friendly. Nonetheless this property may be the best rental property I have ever stayed at. The hosts did everything to ensure we had a memorable, comfortable stay.

Wonderful house and location - perfect week!

Property was exactly as described. Everything was in excellent shape, bedrooms were comfortable, kitchen was very workable. We used the outside grill twice. Wonderful location and the lake was beautiful. We really enjoyed having the little boat to tool around in. One of our best rentals over the years!

Perfect, cozy, fall weekend at the lake!

This is our fourth year at Trout Lake and our fourth year renting from Donna (I can’t say enough good things about these hosts!). All of our other trips were in the summer, so I wasn’t sure what to expect…. It was amazing! We had a long weekend of boating, fishing, paddle boarding, kayaking, and even some (brief, cause “brrr”) swimming. After each activity, we chased the chill away with a soak in the hot tub, followed by a fire in the wood stove. The cabin was clean (as always), well stocked, and full of lake ambiance in spades. You can’t go wrong with this listing!
