About Janice Shreve
Donald and Janice Shreve live in Easton, MD. Don is a licensed contractor, and Janice works from home for a music clearance company. Our son, Dylan loves the Tilghman house, and we enjoy staying there at times to fish, crab and enjoy the beautiful views.
Why Janice Shreve chose Tilghman
The property has been in the family for several generations. Previously, there was a modular home on the property, and as a child, Don's family spent summers at that home when he was growing up. Don's parents had the current home built when they retired in 1993. Don and Janice bought out his sister's share of the home in 2014 so as to keep the home in the family and one day retire there, and eventually pass it on to their son, Dylan.
What makes this House unique
There are kayaks and crab traps for rent on site, and the home has a horseshoe pit, dart board and ping pong table for family fun.

What a great place!
Beautiful views, nice accommodations, plenty of fun and interesting things to do nearby; you can't go wrong with this rental. Thanks to Janice for being so responsive and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to the next one.
Thanks you so much for taking time to submit a review. We appreciate that! We do hope to see you back again sometime!
Serene spacious cottage with great water view
Janice was very communicative and flexible in helping us manage a sudden snowstorm on the way out. Her husband also shoveled the walkway for us before we got there. House was beautiful and is perfect for a small retreat. Do hope to return.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. It was a pleasure communicating with you, and we would welcome you back anytime! You were perfect renters, even washed the sheets and towels, and clearly took great care of our home. Thanks again ~ Janice
A perfect stay!
My husband and I just spent two wonderful weeks at Choptank Cottage. Echoing the other reviews, everything was absolutely perfect. From the house, to the beautifully quiet location, to the amazing views and also to the extremely attentive service we received from Janice - everything exceeded our expectations. The house is perfectly suited to take maximum advantage of the water- just stunning views from each room. It is even more lovely than the pictures on VRBO. I am an avid cook and finding the kitchen so well stocked with pots, pans, crab pots, mallets, knives, etc was a welcome surprise as I have not found this in most rentals over the years. The house was extremely clean, the towels and linens were very high quality, the beds were very comfortable and there were small amenities like a hair dryer, bug spray, matches, hand soap, dishwashing soap, etc. that made it very easy to unpack and quickly start enjoying our stay. In addition, Janice's responsiveness was amazing. There were a couple of times I needed to email her and she literally got back to me within 5 minutes each time.
My husband and I just love Tilghman. It is a quiet little town that we had visited often but had not stayed in before. There are at least 3 nice places right in town for drinks and food with lovely views. The little country store down the street from the cottage is a gem and very well stocked. The point being that, while Tilghman may seem a little remote, one does not need to go into St Michaels for everything.
Overall, we simply could not have had a better stay and have already reserved our two weeks for next year!
Susan, thank you so much for the wonderful review. It was a pleasure to interact with you during your stay, and we are thrilled to have you back to our home next year. It is always a comfort to share our home with repeat guests that truly appreciate not only our home and water views, but who also appreciate the small waterman's village that characterizes Tilghman. It makes it that much more special when we can share our home with others who truly love Tilghman (and our home), and who are so easy to get along with, even if it's only through emails! Until next year....Janice
And so, it begins
Our family vacation has relocated. To Tilghman Island. On Harris Creek. At Choptank Cottage. I can only echo what others have said. The views are spectacular. There is a dock where we could tie up our 28' Chris Craft, fish, crab and watch the sea life.
This home has everything you might need including cooking utensils, crab pots, a picnic table, firepit and so on. Even the next door neighbor and her big love of a dog are very special. The owners are very helpful and the house very welll kempt.
The location is wonderful, right on the creek. Marker 5, the Red Store, Knapps Narrows, The Lady Patty, Harrison's and on and on.
The one problem is leaving. Looking forward to the next time. Wow.
Thank you for choosing our home, and taking the time to write such a lovely review. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay, and welcome you back anytime! I'll keep looking for that old cloth blue rod holder...
The Choptank Cottage is incredible. The property is accessible, but secluded. The neighbors are very nice. We enjoyed a beautiful Thanksgiving vacation sitting by the Bay enjoying the amenities offered by the home. The owners are incredibly easy to work with and everything is provided. The rooms are impeccable and clean. We cooked a full Thanksgiving dinner with no issues. Even board games are provided. Use the fire pit, it's awesome and you can sit and enjoy a fire while looking over the Bay enjoying a full moon. I cannot speak highly enough about the property and our family is already looking to rent again. The price is great and the house is amazing. Thank you to the owners for allowing us into their home and for an amazing time.
So glad you enjoyed a relaxing Thanksgiving! We really appreciate your positive review of our home and hope to have you back. It's great to have repeat guests...Janice
A wonderful relaxing home with beautiful water views. The owners were accommodating and very responsive to our pre-trip questions. The property has everything you may need and is private but not secluded. St. Michael's is a short drive away with plenty of restaurants and shops there are also several restaurants closer by. We completely enjoyed our stay and plan to return. We highly recommend Choptank cottage.
