About this property
Serene 70's Retro Retreat
Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway, located between some true New Mexico gems: San Antonio Hot Springs, Valles Caldera National Preserve, and Fenton Lake.
Just 60 miles north of Albuquerque, this unique hideaway is true to the 70s theme! Built in 1973, this groovy cabin sits on more than 4.5 acres that border the Santa Fe National Forest. Spend your days lounging in the hammocks, your evenings by the cozy fireplace inside, or roasting marshmallows by the fire pit.
Welcome to peace and quiet!
No matter what kind of retreat you are looking for, this property has it. Enjoy a walk through an aspen grove, a forest of pine or around the rock formations unique to the Jemez mountains. Go mountain biking down to Ice Cave Canyon, take a drive to the Valles Caldera for the evening to hear the elk bugle, or just relax during the day in a hammock and nap.
Two miles from the San Antonio Hot Springs, our cozy cabin is a perfect respite from the busy hustle and bustle of normal life. Built in 1973, enjoy the nostalgia of original fixtures, dishes and decor, but comfier! Enjoy the endless starry skies at night and clean mountain air as this haven is located at almost 9000 feet!
The full cabin is welcome for you to use! The single bedroom is equipped with black out curtains so you can sleep in to your hearts desire. The living room has a pull out sofa bed with added foam topper to make sure everyone gets a good nights sleep.
The driveway is a bit steep, but can hold at least 4 vehicles. Feel free to park left of the driveway, but please leave the road open for our neighbors.
Please be sure to check the National Park Service website for any closures in the area.
Given our remote location, power outages are common, especially during inclement weather. Please note that the cabin sits atop the Jemez Mountains, accessible via narrow mountain roads. In winter, these roads may be covered in snow or ice, requiring a four-wheel drive for safe passage. It's highly recommended to have chains available for added traction
Property is equipped with 3 outdoor cameras and a Ring doorbell camera for guest and property security.
We do allow pets, however, there is an additional cleaning fee of $30 per pet per night to cover the extra cleaning required. Our property is not fenced. Please use caution as your furry friend will be finding lots of new smells and as the Jemez is full of deer, elk, squirrels, chipmunks, bobcats, coyotes, bear, plenty of birds, and even Mexican wolves, we ask that you keep your animal on a leash to make sure they stay safe and refer to our house rules for more information. Thank you, and we look forward to hosting you!

We had a great stay (2 adults and 2 small dogs) and would definitely rate it 5 stars. We especially loved the seclusion, the beautiful natural setting, the big lot with pine trees, and having the Hot Springs trail right from the house. It felt peaceful, private, and perfect for a hiking getaway. The cabin was also very warm and cozy, even in freezing weather. We were surprised that we actually turned the heat off at night and opened the windows while it was 25–27F outside. The heating lamp in the bathroom was such a nice touch and very useful in the cold. I was also genuinely impressed to see a feminine emergency kit in the bathroom — that was such a thoughtful detail and showed real care from the host. The only thing I’d mention as a small suggestion is that the twin bed felt a little too small after long days of hiking. I think a queen or king bed would make the stay even better, even if it meant giving up the nightstand.Overall, we really enjoyed staying here and would happily come back.
Cozy cabin with enough amenities to make your trip easy but to feel like you’re getting away from daily life. The hosts were very helpful before and during our stay. Would definitely take my family back to enjoy the nature around and on the property
This cabin is nestled high in the Jemez Mountains in a small neighborhood surrounded by national forest. The trails around the cabin are excellent whether you step out of the cabin for a hike or drive to one of the many trailheads along Highway 4. The area around the cabin was very quiet during my wife and I's weeklong stay. The kitchen was well stocked for meal preparation and the cabin was quite comfortable for sleeping and lounging after a long day of hiking. I would recommend it for people wanting to get a way from busy everday life!
This place is amazing! Not to far from Albuquerque. A perfect place to enjoy nature for the weekend. Peaceful location too... Cabin has a full kitchen set up to make them homemade meals. Full bathroom was a nice thing to have up there too. Pet friendly was a plus!! We are definitely going back to this place in the future.

Welcome from the colorful Jemez Mountains of New Mexico! My wife and I have a love for aviation, nature, and the kind of off-the-beaten-path adventure that leads to unforgettable memories. Our aviation backgrounds have taught us the importance of precision and reliability, which we carry over into hosting—we want every guest to feel completely cared for.
We’ve traveled the world, but nothing compares to the magic we’ve found right here in New Mexico. Hosting allows us to share a slice of that magic with fellow travelers—people who crave fresh air, starry skies, and a cozy space to reconnect with themselves and nature.
We’re proud to offer the Serene 70s Retreat, a place where you can unplug, get inspired, and maybe even rediscover your sense of wonder. Whether you're soaking in nearby hot springs or just lounging in a hammock under pine trees, we hope our cabin feels like a breath of fresh mountain air.
Why they chose this property
The Jemez Mountains are one of New Mexico ’s best-kept secrets—and we’re lucky to call them home. We fell in love with this area for its peacefulness, rugged beauty, and the incredible variety of outdoor adventures right at your doorstep.
Our cabin sits on 4.5 private acres that border the Santa Fe National Forest, offering immediate access to trails, wildlife, and that hard-to-find sense of true seclusion. Yet, you're still just 60 miles from Albuquerque. Whether you’re heading to the San Antonio Hot Springs, exploring Valles Caldera, or fishing at Fenton Lake, every corner of this neighborhood has something special to offer.
It’s the kind of place where mornings start with deer sightings and mountain air, and nights end under an ocean of stars. We chose this neighborhood because it invites you to slow down, stay longer, and live a little differently.
What makes this property unique
The Serene 70s Retreat isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an experience rooted in nostalgia, nature, and creativity. Built in 1973, the cabin is a retro-inspired time capsule with cozy comforts, modern amenities, and a whole lot of soul. It’s surrounded by towering trees, visited often by local wildlife, and set far enough from the noise to let you truly relax.
Whether you're curling up by the vintage fireplace, lounging in hammocks, or taking a Zoom call with the Jemez Mountains as your backdrop (thanks, Starlink), our retreat is designed for both rest and inspiration. From the fire pit to the forest trails, every feature here encourages you to disconnect from the chaos and reconnect with what matters.
It’s perfect for remote workers, creatives, solo travelers, small families, and anyone who appreciates a slower rhythm. This isn’t just a mountain cabin—it’s a sanctuary, a creative haven, and a little slice of retro heaven in the woods.
