Old Fairview Cabin is a beautiful one-bedroom, custom built log cabin. It is located just minutes from downtown historic Abingdon and minutes from the Virginia Creeper Trail. It offers a relaxing and refreshing atmosphere. Old Fairview is family owned and operated, insuring an immaculate and refreshing log cabin ready for your visit. The cabin was built by the owner and his family from logs dating back to the 1800's. It is located on the property of the owner, nestled in a patch of trees providing a very peaceful and relaxing setting. There is an outdoor fireplace on a covered back porch and a covered front porch where you can sit and enjoy the scenery. The cabin is fully furnished and has a full kitchen with stove, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator. The cabin features a loft bedroom with a queen bed and small antique twin bed. There is cable TV and a large walk-in tile shower. Bathroom is on lower level and the bedroom is on the upper level.

We loved our weekend in the cabin! From the outside, it looks like a structure that has been on the hill for a hundred years, but everything about it is modern, updated and comfortable. The check-in process was easy, and the hosts, who live in a house behind the cabin (but far enough away that your privacy isn't compromised), were friendly and super-responsive. Our favorite features, oddly enough, turned out to be the front porch and the tin roof! We happened to be there on a rainy weekend and spent hours on the porch just talking, reading and watching the rain. Plus, on a rainy night, there's no better sound machine than a tin roof.One other note: Despite the feel of privacy in the country, downtown Abingdon with all its shops and restaurants is an easy 10-minute drive.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return again the next time we visit the area.

Perfect place on a mountain surrounded by trees and nature. Benny the dog and another female black lab came by to visit. It was so quiet and peaceful. I’d definitely stay again if I go back to Abingdon.

My husband and I were both born and raised in the area. My husband is self-employed and I work part-time in an orthopedic office. We have a son, daughter, three grandchildren, and a border collie. We both enjoy the outdoors and this area has so much to offer with The Virginia Creeper Trail, Barter Theatre and many great restaurants.

Why they chose this property

My husband built the cabin over a three year period, initially as a guest house on our property. In 2011, we began renting it out and it has been a great experience. We love the area and feel it has so much to offer our guests.
