A storybook setting on a wooded hill, this two story timber house with a walk out ‘kid’s zone’ basement living and sleeping area, is the perfect setting to get away from it all. Walking distance from Bass Lake (an all sport lake) and less than a mile to three Lake Michigan public access parks or beaches make this the ideal location for a family get away (see map). There are four upstairs bedrooms, one first floor bedroom and an open children’s bedroom in the basement level so it will sleep a total of 16 people. A full bathroom (3) is available on each level of our home. The ten foot wide wrap around porch is an ideal place to sit and enjoy the morning coffee or to sit in the breeze and talk with family and friends. This is a very private setting and yet has all the amenities; cable TV, internet, land line phone service, pure reverse osmosis drinking water and full house water filtering system, microwave, new glass top stove, and washer and dryer. The kids will love the game systems in the ‘kid zone’ living area and the whole family will enjoy evenings in the walkout screen porch on the lower level overlooking the fire pit area. The open concept living room, dining room and kitchen are ideal for entertaining. The classy antique décor of the timber house is delightful. Everything you need to enjoy your stay is available for you. A toaster, microwave, coffee maker, electronic tea pot, dishwasher, all dishes and pans, all linens and towels are available for your use. There is parking for two cars at the house and parking at the bottom of the hill for five more for your toys or cars, with total parking for 6-8 vehicles. Whether it is walking the wooded trails behind the home, visiting the popular shopping and dining areas of Pentwater (five miles) and Ludington (10 miles), enjoying Silver Lake State Park (17 miles), or just relaxing on the porch on the wooded hilltop, everything for your family dream vacation is within reach.

Why Jim Howell chose Ludington
We chose this property because of the location and access to Lake Michigan beaches, Bass Lake, Pentwater and Ludington. And we wanted to have a special place to gather with our three children and eight grandchildren.
What makes this Lodge unique
The porch, with the overhead fans, brings you back to the days when people enjoyed relaxing on their porch with family and friends enjoying the weather and view.

Wonderful Lodge for big families close to Ludington state park.
Beautiful, spacious, modern but homey lodge. Loved it and was perfect for our family reunion. Close to Ludington state park.
Gorgeous wooded cabin
Very well taken care of. Our family had a wonderful time at this home. House was perfect size for 12 of us with beds to spare! Nice finished basement and remodeling of the home. Close proximity to Pentwater and Ludington. We would definitely stay here again!
This is a perfect place for a large family vacation!
This is a perfect place for a large family vacation! There were as many as 16 here. The wraparound porch was where we spent a lot of time relaxing, reading, and playing games. The rustic design was perfect with grandchildren from 4-15. The kids area in the basement was also perfect for their families . I think we did everything Pentwater has to offer: go carts, mini-golf, the state park, shopping, stand up paddle boarding, and kayaking! The house was just right for coming and going.
We loved our stay at Bass Lake
The log house was everything we expected, and more. The place was well furnished and clean. The owners had thought of everything a big family would need and had them furnished for you. Tv, Wi-Fi, kitchen tools, and storage space for your stuff. The Lodge was well located between Ludington and the State Park, and Silver Lakes Dunes. Pentwater was quaint, and Mears Beach access was our favorite access to Lake Michigan. All three generations of our family loved their stay at The Lodge. Our owner and host Jim was very helpful and easy to work with. We will recommend this to our friends and family.
The Lodge is awesome! Very well kept and close to all major attractions.
I can't say enough good things about this property! The house is very nice and is very well kept. Jim has everything you need to enjoy your stay. We had 12 in our party including 5 kids ranging in age from 1-8, each had a great time! The littlest played in the sand to the right of the house and the older kids were able to set up games and even play catch at the bottom of the hill. The basement made for a great indoor kids area as well. As for the adults, we enjoyed the huge porch as well as the fire pit area.
When we left the property on our day trips, we were able to get to the beach, sand dunes and even a few restaurants all within 15 minutes from the property. This was just far enough away from the busy tourist areas and very quiet.
Not knowing what exactly would be in the house as far as amenities, we really over packed. The house had tons of dishes, pots, pans, and even a nice gril and grill tools. We didn't need to unpack any of our equipment.
Overall, this was a great experience. Jim and his wife were as great as the property. Very nice and very accommodating. Our family loved this place and the area and are planning to be back next year!!
This is an awesome place to stay!!!
We had a great week!!! The house is setup to accommodate a large family. We really enjoyed the large wrap around porch with plenty of seating!!! So much to do in the area - beautiful places to walk, bike trails, close to the beach. The little town of Pentwater is so cute with its little shops and of course ice cream 🍦🍦. Thanks Jim for sharing your property with us!!!
