  • Wonderful spot

"Love this quiet get away! Beach is amazing. Walked Pentwater Pathway a few miles away. Beautiful outdoor bon fire area-will use on our next visit this summer. Hart Brewery nearby for a few yummy growlers. Fireplace and knotty pine walls make this cabin cozy, warm, and relaxing. We'll be back!"

  • Home Base for Family Memories at Silver Lake

"This was a late planned, spontaneous vacation to gather the family to spend time together and I couldn't have been more pleased when I found Ryan's home available. Everything we needed for 12 of us was beyond expectation and more based upon the VRBO website. I brought laundry soap, dryer sheets, paper towels, napkins, toilet paper, garbage bags, spices, etc. based upon previous rentals and it was all there...thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity. The entire home is so "user" friendly ...we never felt crowded. I anticipated that the teenagers would set up their leisure zone in the basement but they never descended ...they were sprawled over the living room and we happily welcomed their constant presence even if they were never without their phones, tablets, etc. and weren't aware of our existence, but we were together! Our favorite was the porch and long table and deck where morning coffee ended with a evening glass of wine overlooking the campfire. AC was appreciated this week and we enjoyed using the grill. Spike ball and corn hole boards found great yard space and the fire pit was used almost every night...we left firewood for the next guests. We brought our bikes and explored dirt roads and surrounding areas, my daughter brought kayaks and I am proud to claim that my grandson and I crossed Silver Lake to the dunes and back! We all agree that the lighthouse beach was our favorite place to relax and swim...we were daily visitors! (and spike ball went along! ) Yes, we did the Mac Woods dune ride...how could you not as it was our first visit to Silver Lake. And I joined the teenagers on Craig Cruiser go karts with Frickin Chicken and beer afterwards! ( my reward for surviving! ) And of course, our last night was treats at Whippy Dip! We also made use of the swimming pool ... 4 adults and grandson welcomed it at 9 P.M. Friday night after driving! The location of the house is perfect ...quiet, secluded neighborhood and close to town...can even walk to beach. So, Ryan - "thank you" hardly seems adequate to express the experience, comfort, and memories your home has given my family...and tons of photo's! For me, as the Mom and Grandma, my joy was providing the opportunity for all of them to have their only summer vacation and for us to be under the same roof for a few precious days. Thank you for making this easy and affordable ...you were a wonderful, hospitable (absentee) host! I absolutely recommend you and Birch and Beach! Chriss :)"

  • Great cottage in a great location

"I really enjoyed my stay here in early June. The location is great, easy to walk everywhere and you still have a space to come home and have a campfire. Diana, the owner, was very friendly and gave my group some tips on the best places to get firewood/rentals/anything we needed."

  • Nice cottage - in the heart of activity

"This house backs to the Tennis court. The community house and pool are 100 feet from the property line. Shuffleboard is across the street from the pool parking. (all very walkable). Younger kids must have adult at the pool (think it was 12 yo or under). In the house with windows closed and A/C going, we never heard any of the activity outside. If you want true peace and quite, look for Arnouts other listing that is in the back of the sub. But, we have 2 kids so walking to the pool a few days during the stay was perfect. Beach at Silver Lake is mainly for playing. It's stairs to the water so not "kid desired" water entry. BUT, Lake Michigan at the lighthouse is a short drive. And that is what the kids wanted...the "BIG Water". This was my first of two stays at Arnouts managed properties. As with my 2nd stay...the house is very nice. The owners have it decorated to feel quite 'home like' without having so much on tables to cause you concern about accidents (I didn't move a thing). Pictures are spot on. No Wi-fi at the house. Depending on your device, you can pickup the wi-fi from the community center (I had mixed results). Has washer / dryer Sheets are on the bed Bath towels are there Soap, toiletries, dish soap, trash bag, all there... bring your own towels for the beach and pool. 2 BR's with 1 bed in each. "kids BR" has a full and bunk beds (1 up/down) HDTV in Master BR and Guest BR. Standard Definition (36"? CRT) in Living room. The Arnouts are a pleasure to deal with. This was our first rental with them (I returned in Aug with kids for a few days). We had zero issues with anything on either visit, but if we did, I bet they'd be "Johnny on the spot." TIP: visit the dunes during the week. Not crowded at all (July 4 week could be the exception)."
