  • Old country cottage feel with all the modern amenities.

"Very charming old cottage. Lovely country feel. Everything that you could possibly need was provided. From plentiful blankets, linens and pillows to board games and movies for the kids. Huge flat screen tv with wifi and cable for those days when you decide to stay in, but why would you want to. Wonderful fire pit in back yard as well as bbq grilling on the deck and dining area on deck as well as front porch. Close to State Park and beach which was perfect for us. Owners were very responsive with any issues that came up. This place took me back in time to Summer's of my youth. It was great to be able to share that with my grandkids! Thank you Julie and Tim for sharing your cottage with us."

  • Get away from the real world to a beautiful, relaxing locale

"Stayed here for a week with our four-month old and parents and sister/husband and couldn't have been more happy with the house! The view was just breath-taking at times out the huge windows. You could see Silver Lake, the dunes, and Lake Michigan a couple miles (maybe even less?) away which was perfect because it was away from the hustle and bustle you have when you stay in a tourist town. But you were still minutes away from the dunes which made it very convenient. There was a walk-in closet off the master suite that we used to put up the provided pack-and-play and it made for a great baby room. The rest of the house was perfect for our group (seven). There was plenty of room and we never felt like we were crowded. A couple words of caution - the road up to the cabin is a sand drive-way that if you are driving a low sports car...it probably won't work too well, but any other vehicle, take it slow and and it's no problem! Also, there are alot of stairs to climb in the house, especially if you are staying on the master floor (four flights total). It's built on a hill so that is to be expected and I was happy to get the extra steps, but if you have trouble with stairs, this might not be the place for you. Overall - we could not have been more happy with our stay. It really was a splendid getaway!"

  • Beautiful and Serene

"My husband and I rented "The View" with our best friends for a long weekend getaway. After finding the property on Home Away, the reviews were fantastic but there weren't many pictures which made me somewhat nervous. The minute we walked in the door, I realized there was absolutely no reason for worry. The home is absolutely beautiful- we were able to relax and enjoy the incredible view of the lake and the fall foliage from the entire main living area which was incredibly welcoming and comfortable. It truly felt like a home away from home. The bedrooms and bathrooms were well appointed and comfortable as well. The master bedroom is amazing with a view I wish I could wake up to every morning. As other reviewers have mentioned, the location is prime to visit all the nearby towns. We spent one day in Grand Haven, the next in Sagautuck, and the next in Holland. But we were close enough to each that we could easily go to any of the three for dinner in the evening. Linda and Jim's recommendation of 8th Street Grille in Holland was fantastic- we visited twice during our stay. The owners were friendly and accommodating, responding quickly to any questions. The View was truly an amazing place to get away and relax, unwind, and recharge in a beautiful setting."

  • Peaceful, charming cottage

"We stayed for three weeks at the wonderful Potter's Guesthouse while we were dealing with a personal family situation. It was such a relief to come "home" every night to a well-appointed, quiet, and tidy place where we could unwind from the stresses of the day. The kitchen is well-equipped, the beds are comfy and there is plenty of room to spread out. There is a lovely back porch and beautiful woods all around the house, in addition to Peter's pottery studio next door which is always worth a visit. For vacationers, this a perfect place to be close to Lake Michigan and White Lake, Duck Lake State Park, a golf course and the White Lake Yacht Club. We highly recommend it!"
