Cabins were very good, clean and more amenities than most.

Fishing was great. Off the dock fishing was so fun for the little ones. Downside was the restriction of using only water area in front of our cabins. We have stayed at other resorts and they had common beach area for all. Also, having to ask for paddle boat to our area, we would have appreciated it at our dock on arrival.

Peaceful week away

This review is for cabins 3 and 4. Owners welcomed us upon arrival and were nearby all week should we have needed something. When we realized we forgot our life jackets the owners simply provided us with some to use. As guests you are given use of a paddle boat, two kayaks, and a dock for your boat. Our group didn't fish, but there was a fish house on the grounds. The smaller cabins are a bit dated, but fully stocked. Each of the smaller cabins has silverware, plates, glassware, etc. provided in a full kitchen. They also provide a charcoal grill with each cabin in addition to a fire pit and picnic table. If you don't want to eat inside, there are patio tables with chairs. These are two bedroom cabins. One bedroom has a double bed, the second has a double bed with a lofted twin bunk overhead. Beds were comfortable and sheets and pillows were also provided. It was a really beautiful and quiet lake and a great week long retreat for the fam.

Cabins rented with main house #514342

Our family rented #514342 as the main house with additional guests staying in 2 cabins. It was a great set up for a family reunion gathering. Our family in the future would only stay in the cabins if we were renting the main house because then able to enjoy all the facilities and amenities and had the entire location to ourselves. The cabins were clean and comfortable and would be a nice affordable place for 2-4 people. The owner/hostess was wonderful! We would definitely return.

Blocklakecabins is a ‘Mom n Pop’ Resort that we call “WinterHaven” because our last name is Winter and it is a great “haven” for families and friends. Dave and Peggy (Mom and Pop) have been married over 50 years and have been blessed with six children, their spouses and lots of grandchildren. We moved to WinterHaven after retiring from the pastoral and teaching ministries and now do most of the work of caring for and renting the five cabins. It is our joy to see families relax and play in this awesome piece of God’s creation.

Why they chose this property

We chose this property for its serene setting, the beauty of the lake, and the peace that filled us the first time we saw it. With a large hill on one side of the lake it seems that you are in your own little world. The lake is sparsely populated with few boats on the lake at one time so it is quiet and safe for water fun.
