About Pat Taverner
I was brought up and lived in the town of Wicklow, and only left Ireland to pursue post graduate education in Scotland. Here I met my husband, never to return again to live in Ireland.
Pat Taverner purchased this Cottage in 1989
Why Pat Taverner chose Wicklow
This cottage, although not my family home, was bought and has been set up as a second home for my family and is used on a regular basis by our daughters and their families.
What makes this Cottage unique
This cottage has a very compact frontage, but having been extended, offers a very well equipped and warm family orientated base for exploring Dublin, and the Counties of Wicklow and Wexford .These offer vistas and activities from the mountains in the west to the beaches on the East coast and all places between with all the beauty within 'The Garden of Ireland'. Bus stops outside in the street provide direct access to Dublin and its airport and all places in between on an hourly basis.

Wicklow Town, a great home base.
My husband and I spent two months in Wicklow Town at the Green Cottage . Being in computable distance to Dublin made our working holiday possible.
The house is simple, sweet and charming, having everything you need for a great stay including three good sized bedrooms. We like to cook at home so having a fully functional kitchen was great.
If you are expecting a house furnished with self-expressionless Ikea design, like many airbnb's today, which includes plush towels, uncomfortable furniture, this house is not for you. The Green Cottage is quaint, cozy with a lovely rustic charm. It has lots of room, comfortable chairs, a big kitchen table, a functional kitchen with all the baking and cooking implements you'll need.
A huge bonus is that you will also be staying in Wicklow Town, the sweetest place ever. For us it was like going back in time - in a good way. A town that has a slower pace. Don' t miss going to Cullen's Butcher to saying hello to Maurice and Paul, the friendliest butchers you'll ever meet, and Wayne and his wife at Kelly's Vegetable Shop for your fresh fruit and veg. Also, visit the fishmonger for your fresh fish and a sneak peek of Sammy the Seal.
Mary, the key keeper and greeter is amazing. She is available, charming and knows the town inside and out. She does everything in her power to make your stay great.
The house is on a steep hill so I'd just advise people who don't have a car and plan to bus and walk, that it's a steep climb with groceries. There is a small convenience store close, but it's expensive for anything other than milk and the paper. A taxi is 5 euro (anywhere in the town) but it can add expense to your holiday if you are not prepared. There is also bus right outside the door that goes to Dublin but it's the milk route so it stops at every small town and takes 1.5 hr. The express bus or train leaves from down the hill. Note, there is not a bus service in the town itself.
The back garden is an ever changing delight that you see from the kitchen sink. It has a clothes line and some furniture too. Having a washing machine is a big bonus.
We moved into Dublin for the last three weeks of our stay and we wish we were back in Wicklow Town. Of course Dublin has everything a city can offer and more, but Wicklow Town and the Green Cottage has a charm that you don't find everywhere today. Thanks again, Ray and Krista
We are very pleased that Ray and Krista found both Wicklow and The Little Green House so satisfying and appealing and they used the resources and shops of the town to their advantage.
We look forward to welcoming them again if they return to Wicklow.
We are very pleased at our guest's comment on its location and overall rating of excellent.
We hope that our guest will come again and join our other return guests.

We are very pleased that Jacqui found the Little Green House so well equipped and located for getting around. Our keyholder, Mary, provides support to all our guests and is very often thanked and commended for "going the extra mile". It is very satisfying to be Highly Recommended as it demonstrates that we have created a great base for families and couples staying on the east coast of Ireland.
Comfortable, clean, and well-equipped
Convenient location allowed for exploring the town on foot and many local sites were within a short drive, Also very convenient to take the bus or train to Dublin. We were a group of 6 adults and a 3-year old and the house was comfortable and care had been taken to make everything child-friendly and safe.
We are very pleased that Andrea and her family found The Little Green House so conveniently located for the town and surrounding places to visit. They also liked our cottage for being comfortable and well equipped for our guests and set up for children which confirms its suitability as a family base.
We hope that if Andrea and her family choose to come again to Wicklow, we will be able to accommodate them.
