Songo Loft - Old Farmhouse

In the winter, this is a great home base for Sunday River Ski Resort. In the summer, the lake across the street from the home provides for a scenic vacation. This house has one bedroom upstairs (queen bed), with bunk beds in the loft, as well as an additional twin. The house has a full bath on the first floor. There is a washer/dryer, dishwasher, woodstove, and DirecTV. The unit is adjacent to my 5 bedroom unit, listing ID for HomeAway is 115754. Some groups have rented both spaces together. Please note, this barn/loft unit has no air conditioning, but there are ceiling fans and box fans to help circulate the air.

Songo Loft

Very close to Sunday River and the town of Bethel. Plenty of room for 4 adults. Pond across the street was excellent, frozen and plowed, to walk the dog or go ice fishing.

Perfect for Sunday River!

Me, my 12 year old son and i needed accommodations for a last min ski trip. We found the perfect place here. It was just a few mins to the mountain. It was a beautiful little house, condo-like vibe. The host was gracious, accommodating and booking was easy. We will definitely be back!

Not what I expected

The property stated it was a restored barn but it was attached to a farmhouse that was also rented and there was absolutely no privacy. The property was not air conditioned although I’m pretty sure the property description stated it was. There were several old box fans on site, but the lift where the bedroom was located stayed 90 degrees and we couldn’t sleep. I forgot to pack a bar of soap and usually there are things like that provided, but not at this property. The bathroom and kitchen had hand soap, but both dispensers had been significantly watered down. This was not anything like the other VRBO properties I have stayed at in the past and to say the least I was very disappointed!

Hi Deidre, thanks for your input. I agree that the oppressive weather we experienced in early August in Western ME made it very uncomfortable for sleeping. I made no mention of having air conditioning, and am sorry that you had formed that impression. I try to provide full disclosure to renters, as their experience is the driver of success on VRBO through their reviews. The details are important. Regarding your comments about the lack of privacy... I try to inform others by including the listing number and referencing the additional rental on the premises in my property description that this is not the only rental on premises. I'm sorry if that wasn't more clear. This was a larger than normal group with 8 adults and 6 kids under 5 yrs old. The dock on the property is associated with the 5 bedroom house rental, and I called them prior to your arrival to see if they were open to sharing, and they obliged, saying they were excellent at sharing! I hope the swimming area helped provide some relief to keep things cooler. As for the soaps, It sounds to me like the oppressive heat may have made the soap a more watery consistence. I did pass along your feedback to the cleaning team to ensure that the dispensers are addressed. I use a bulk container of Soft Soap to replenish the soap dispensers, and the cleaners are generally on top of the refills. I'll take your suggestion and try to have a variety of soaps, both bar and body washes, in the event that someone forgets to pack theirs in the future. - Jim Dearden

very nice property and great location. John-property manager was very nice & enjoyed chatting with him. It would be helpful to have a one page laminated sheet with key features & tasks needed to be done before checking out. Overall a great stay....

Winter awesome vacation.

I am really so thanksfull for owner Jim and his property. We stayed here for 5 days and it was amazing place for rest. House was clean and all things that we ask about were in house or were delivered immediately. Owner Jim always was polite and helpfull. I want come back to his house more and more.
