Was under the impression that it was going to be a Lakeview apartment. It was smacked dead in the middle of a bad neighborhood and on top of that the host was extremely nosy and strict watched us like a hawk the whole time, even though we were just on a family trip.

This unit should be disclosed as being a Third Floor unit with multiple flights of stairs.The T.V. could not be operated. Only one TV at the property. Only one waste basket that appeared to be from Dollar General.A dearth of kitchen appliances and kitchenware essentials. No toaster. For example no spatula and what few others supplied appeared to be Dollar Store quality and well aged.An Uber driver described the neighborhood as "The Trenches". The door to the common area entry has a code, but it was routinely left ajar by the other tenants.The air conditioner is noisy and loud.The apartment is large, spacious and renovated.

Maintenance issues

The host, Stephaine, was very communicative and made sure our stay was acceptable. She did let us know that there were A/C issues with the original house so she switched us to a house with more rooms and bathrooms which was a plus for us! The area we stayed in was quiet and have a lot of stores and restaurants nearby, had a lot of culture. Definitely would return to Chicago, loved it there!

The power was out in the area due to downed powerlines which is something we have no control over. After being on the phone with comed for an hour I let the guest know she could get a refund if she wanted because I didnt know how long it would take for the power to come back on. She asked for a refund after comed said it would take over night fix. I allowed her even tho she had been refunded to stay till she found a new place. She stayed overnight her and her guests for free until the next day evening. She messaged me the next day evening saying she was leaving and had found a place. When I went to check the unit that day 30 minutes after she left the power was on. I don't know if the power had been restored before she left. She should be grateful I let them stay and not told them to leave especially since she already had received a full refund. Yes it is an inconvenience but chicago has many reasonable places to stay. She could have easily found a place and not stayed almost 2 days for free.
