"Crooked Window Cottage" lakefront lodging on beautiful Shadow Lake in Glover, Vermont. This new in 2016 two bedroom home is attached to our main house and provides everything necessary for a wonderful vacation get-away! There is a separate entrance, deck and driveway and your privacy is assured, but we are right next door to offer help and advice on local points of interest if needed. There is an 18 foot long breezeway that separates the main house from the cottage and there are no shared walls between the two spaces...we value your privacy and ours. The 900 square foot unit has two bedrooms upstairs, one with a full size bed and one with one twin bed and one full size bed, a full bath with gorgeous tile shower and a fully equipped kitchen with gleaming granite counter tops. There are hardwood floors throughout. There is a flat screen TV with cable and wireless internet access. All linens are provided. The views of the lake are spectacular and there is a private beach area and dock along with a rowboat for your use. There is also a large deck off of the living room. Shadow Lake is a 199 acre freshwater lake with lots of good fishing and swimming. Glover is located in the Northeast Kingdom and close to several ski areas. There is a general store in town along with Parker Pie, Red Sky Trading and the Bread and Puppet Museum. There are several other shops, including antiques, in nearby Barton. There are other lakes close by, including the famous Lake Willoughby, and the world renowned Hill Farmstead Brewery is about 10 minutes away. In the summer, Greensboro (about 15 minutes) offers live theater. Cabot Creamery is about a half hour away and Ben and Jerry's is about 40 minutes, along with Lost Nation Brewery and the Alchemist near Stowe. We are about 20 miles from the Canadian border and Lake Memphramagog. There are plenty of hiking and biking opportunities in the area, so you can have an active vacation or just relax and listen to the call of the loons.

About Kristine Tooker
Hi! My name is Kristine and I grew up at the Jersey Shore but have recently moved to Vermont after retiring from my career as a high school teacher/librarian and an adjunct professor at a community college. I also retired from many years serving as a councilwoman on my town's governing body and on several boards and committees. My son Caleb and his wife Jen own an organic farm near where I live with my partner Eric, a retired state police officer, and our rescue Calico cat, Luna. I enjoy traveling, reading, baking, walking, kayaking and swimming. In the winters, we escape to our condo in Mazatlan, Mexico, which we also offer for rent when we are not enjoying it ourselves. Thanks so much for your interest in my properties!

Great fall weekend
Place was great and comfortable. My wife and I were there with our two dogs for our wedding anniversary. The space was well equipped and there was even a basket in the bathroom with any toiletries that you may need or have forgotten. The weather was chillyb for October but we snuggled on the couch and watched movies. Took a late season kayak. Visited nearby breweries. Took a nice walk up the road past beautiful farms.
Thanks for the great review - we really appreciate it! We very much enjoyed having you both and your very well behaved pups stay in Crooked Window Cottage and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay, despite the chilly weather! It was fun chatting with you and we would be happy to welcome you back anytime!
Delightful and Cozy
The cabin is charming, roomy for our family of 3, and situated on beautiful Shadow Lake.
Our host, Kris, was super helpful and accommodating in every way.
Even though there are other houses close by, you still feel solitude and peace. It is a friendly, quiet place, NOT touristic at all, but a short drive to all manner of diversion....
including the Hill Farm Brewery!!!! Lake Willoughby State Forest is also a must. A lovely stay, we hated to leave.
Lovely cottage, with dishwasher, WiFi and cable. Would prefer private dock.
Glad you liked the cottage and thank you for leaving a review. We don't use our dock or beach area when we have guests in the cottage to ensure that our guests have private use of the space. With such beautiful weather last weekend, we hope you were able to enjoy the lake! Thanks again for staying in Crooked Window Cottage!
A great week on the lake
We stayed at the Crooked Window Cottage in August 2018. The cottage was clean and so quiet. The view of the lake was great - we saw (and heard) loons which made our granddaughter very excited. We took the rowboat out a few times and swam by the dock in the beautiful clear water. I can highly recommend the cottage!
Thanks so much for the great review and for staying in Crooked Window Cottage! We really enjoyed having you all here - your granddaughter is adorable! Glad you were able to enjoy the lake during your stay. Hope you see you again!!
Perfect! Exactly what we needed!
Just stayed for Father’s Day weekend with my dad and pre-teen daughter. The space was perfect! The view was great! Quiet outside throughout the day and night so you could leave the windows open. Great communication with the owners. They also shared lots of tips for things to do in the area and that was essential for our trip as pretty much everything we did came from their advice. Bread and Puppet Museum is a must, beyond incredible. Excellent lunch and walking around in Newport about 20-30 min north. Took pictures on the Canadian border in Derby Line. Local charm in Glover and Barton were great too. Perfect spot for a weekend getaway!
Thanks so much for the great review! We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and had fun exploring the Northeast Kingdom! You were wonderful guests and we really enjoyed having you here in Crooked Window Cottage - thanks again!!
Everything was perfect. My friends and I loved the place and had loads of fun during Memorial weekend. And the view is just breathtaking, if you love nature this is the place to go.
Thank you for such a great review - we really appreciate it! So glad you enjoyed your weekend at Crooked Window Cottage - just wish the weather was better for your stay! You were wonderful guests and we would be happy to have you back anytime :)
