Thank you and we look forward to having you back!
My Dad and 2 brothers and I stayed for a few days and had a great time. The place was as advertised with plenty of space and a beautiful view of the canal. Jim and his wife were very inviting and accomodating and we will definitely be staying again. Highly recommend.

Thank you Scott. We’re glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay. I think you are our first guests that ever made a mulberry pie. Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Two weeks of peace and quiet. Scenic area with various points of interest nearby. Adequate shopping and services
in the area. Host was very attentive and responsive to our needs. Great spot to bring your boat, kayaks and water toys. Good lake for fishing and all water activities.
The property was very clean, and has everything that was needed. It was nice and quiet with the view of the canal from the dining area, there is a back porch and yard for sitting and enjoying or children playing. The host Jim and his wife Jan were very nice
We had a great time staying at Jim's cottage. It was close enough to everything we wanted to visit, but in a quiet, peaceful and beautiful location. The cottage was clean and Jim was available for any issues if needed. He also generously offered to let us use his kayaks and canoe. Taking the canoe out was probably our favorite part of the trip, watching the loons and bald eagles while out on the lake. We would definitely stay again.

Thank you very much for staying with us. I’m glad you got to see the eagles. It’s great that we have two living on this lake. The sound of the loons is awesome.
We'd stayed a few years ago and everything was great with the exception of the weather. This time the weather AND the fishing were awesome. The cottage was perfect for our needs and Jim made sure everything went smoothly.
Thanks!

Chuck and Margaret, thank you for the kind review and staying at our place for a 2nd time. So glad that the weather was much better. We look forward to seeing you guys again in the future. Have a great summer!
Cottage was exactly what we were looking for to have a father/son/dog fishing weekend. Places that accept dogs like my sons Australian shepherd are difficult to find. Jim and Janice were excellent hosts. Thank you!

We were looking for a quick getaway and this place was great !
We were looking for a waterfront cabin that was affordable and allowed us to bring our dogs , and this was a great place to stay! You’re right on the water , with a nice yard. It is also close to Tawas, Oscoda, etc. We did have zero signal though, so depending on your carrier be prepared! (But there is WiFi) This is somewhere we would stay again !

Thank you very much for staying with us. We’re so glad that you enjoyed your getaway! Cell coverage is a challenge especially if your carrier is ATT. Verizon seems to have a much stronger signal.
Great location with plenty of things to do within a half hour or less from the property. The home owner was very helpful and kind. Our dog also enjoyed his first experience with the lake! We liked the enclosed porch so we were able to let him sit out on it without running off. There’s a delicious coffee/ice cream shop 5 minutes from here that we visited daily by us as well. We plan on returning!

A comfortable, clean pet friendly cottage
We had a great time. The cottage was very comfortable. Jim was a wonderful friendly host, offering us suggestions to restaurants and pet friendly beaches. It was just 40 min from lake Huron so we made 2 day trips there. It was very peaceful at the cottage. We enjoyed sitting out on the porches. Jim offered us the use of his kayaks and canoe, but we didn't want to leave our dog alone or risk taking her out in the lake. We were very satisfied with our stay.

Thank you so much. It was a pleasure having you as our guests! Dingo was such a good girl! Enjoy the rest of your summer.
Ron thank you for the review. You are correct there is no broadcast tv available (as is noted in my listing) but we do provide a vcr,dvd player and a ps3 which can be used to access streaming channels of your choice. So if you watch Disney+, Netflix, etc at home you would still be able to access your accounts via the ps3. We’ve tried various digital tv antennas but they have unfortunately all failed. Thank you again for staying with us and hope you enjoy the rest of your summer.
Nice clean house in a very peaceful location. On a pretty lake that featured good fishing, cranes, and a bald eagle as some of the attractions. We stayed for a last minute family getaway. Very relaxing. Most days we went over to Lake Huron. Tawas City, East Tawas and Oscoda were within striking distance, and we enjoyed all those areas had to offer, and then returned home to this quiet location to rest up for the next day. We did not use the firepit, but there is one there by the water. Jim, the owner was very personable, available, and generous with his help. We really enjoyed meeting him. I had a couple of excellent conversations with him. An excellent host. We had an excellent time, and would not hesitate to book again in the future. John D

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication
Disliked: Listing accuracy
Needs some work and updating.
The mattresses need to be replaced. It felt like we were sleeping on a trampoline. There is no air conditioning and box fans do not help. The one bathroom needs another towel bar. There are NO shades on the bedroom windows. It would have been nice to sit out on the small deck however it was filthy and the chairs were disgusting.

Thank you for your feedback. I apologize for your experience. In terms of the mattresses, both were replaced two years ago. You are correct that there is no air conditioning which is noted in my listing. Our other guests have found that if the windows and curtains are kept closed during the day that it stays very cool. I will look at the towel bars in both bathrooms and address them as appropriate. I will also look into shades for the bedrooms. In terms of the porch I wish you would have raised this issue to me during your stay. I would have addressed it immediately. I clean the porch once a week but depending upon weather conditions it can become littered with debris from the trees. Unfortunately we have also had an issue with Gypsy moth caterpillars this year which I believe I may have mentioned. Luckily the county has sprayed and the caterpillars have been greatly reduced. Again I apologize for your experience.
We enjoyed a weekend trip to this area and experienced this wonderful rental and very thoughtful hosts. The home is exactly as described and one of the cleanest rentals we have seen. The host has taken great care to provide a fully-appointed home and are available should you have any questions or should any needs arise. The 2 bedrooms are across from each other along with the full bath. The beds are very comfortable an lean soft as far as firmness. There are linens and towels available along with nightlights. We took advantage of the box fans to circulate air at night, which made for very comfortable sleeping. As the home is in the shade, it stayed very cool despite the 89 degree day. The wifi was wonderful, as we do not get good cell service in this area. You have the ability to stream your own accounts on the tv, too. The kitchen has everything you could need, including a keurig and a drip coffee maker. There is also a half bath off the laundry room, where you have washer and dryer. We cannot say enough about how kind and thoughtful the hosts are. While we didn’t take advantage of the water or the hosts’ generous invitation to use their canoe/kayaks (we had family staying on another nearby lake), you are right on the canal that feeds into South Dease Lake. The peace and serenity of this property and location can’t be beat.

We’re very happy that you enjoyed your stay. It’s great that you were able to get back to your fishing roots. Enjoy the rest of the fall season.
The cabin was more than expected. Jim and Jan are great hosts. The location is picturesque and quiet. The cabin is well furnished and the beds make for a great nights sleep. Wildlife is abundant with a bonus of 2 Bald Eagles seen along the shoreline. We caught a variety of fish and some days we were the only boat on the lake. Looking forward to another stay in the near future. Thank you Jim and Jan for a wonderful week.
