The VRBO was very nice and clean. I would encourage the owner to explain the key system a bit more clearly-it took us 20 minutes and many texts to get in the house. The amenities were fine but only one drinking glass was available and only one set of towels and no coffee filters for the coffee pot for a 4 night stay.
Inattentive host, many things in unit are not cared for. Hooks falling out of the wall when you put a coat on it, shelving hanging on by a thread holes in the bathroom wall. Got locked out at one point and couldn’t get ahold of host or assistant. Unsure how I got locked out seeing as it’s a keypad door and the bottom lock wasn’t locked. Overall, clean home, large fridge, nice front porch, paved driveway. Location is a bit sketchy right on Holloway street but is close to all downtown durham amenities which is convenient.

I would like to preface this by saying that, for what I needed, this place worked fine. I stayed in Durham for six nights while in the area for a week long work training. It was neat and functioned well for a place to sleep each night. However, the pictures are a bit misleading. While it is shown on the outside as a duplex, the side of the property I ended up in is not the one that is shown in the photos. The most notable downside of this is that, in the photos, there is a shower with a curtain. In the property I stayed in, my shower had a sliding glass door that would not remain shut. So, whenever I showered, I had to keep it in place with my foot or apply a lot of pressure to push it in place before releasing (which only kept it closed for maybe two minutes at a time maximum before it opened again). Since it is a duplex, you can feel every footstep rattle the floor when the guests staying there are walking around. You can also hear every cough or sneeze as well as the television through the wall whenever they are watching it. This was not a huge deal for me, but something to be aware of when booking (which I was not). Many things on the walls were not secured (a floating wall shelf hanging at a precarious angle, wall hooks meant for hanging items falling out of the wall when I touched them). The windows also had no curtains and many of them had blinds that were snapped and broken. The property owner was also difficult to get a hold of when needed.
