Vacation under the refreshing thatched living room and open kitchen of our intricately woven palapa, with waves and breezes accompanying you day and night. Casa Maya is a unique Mexican coastal-style home built in 2012 by skilled native artisans using palm fronds, aged tropical woods, hand-hewn stone and tile. It is perched directly on oceanfront with sandy beach on one side, and an infinity pool lapping from the other direction right into the living room. The surf break, with swimming beach and pods of whales, is visible as you sip your coffee from the palapa-thatched living area. This artistic space includes a marble dining table with tree root base seating ten, lazy ceiling fans, two giant pillowed lounge couches, and a shady pergola directly off the edge of the pool. A spacious chef's kitchen with wet bar and walk-in pantry is central, the woodwork capturing authentic Mexican tradition, punctuated by a swirled shell backdrop and pounding ocean surf.
Nestled within the gated compound are four luxury villa suites (ceiling fan-cooled and/or air-conditioned--your choice.) Abundant tropical palms and flowers grace the property, providing ample privacy and cozy resting spots.
Settle into--
La Ola and La Concha Suites: Two beachfront suites with King beds, cobbled outdoor showers for sun sprinkles or star gazing, a private shaded pergola terrace and direct pool/ocean access. Each suite sleeps 2 persons.
El Jardin Suite: This lower garden suite with King bed also has a double sofa-bed, indoor sitting area plus a wood-beamed outdoor terrace with huge siesta-pillowed couch and native bistro table offering veiled ocean views alongside an exotic garden with over 90 plant species and 16 species of palm. Sleeps four persons.
La Palma Suite: The quiet upper suite with King bed has a double sofa-bed and indoor sitting area, plus an open-air fully equipped kitchenette. This private outdoor refuge eclipses a tree-top view of the garden, the surf break, and crashing ocean vista. Sleeps 4 persons.
Twelve persons is the maximum capacity of Casa Maya.
Our groundskeeper, Esteban, looks out for the property, and daily housekeeping is also included, except Sunday. A cook is easily arranged, or maybe you prefer to barbeque outdoors on the grill.
Consider renting the entire property for a family/friends gathering, a wedding, a reunion, or just retreat inside your own suite where you will experience peace and tranquility. The lush hummingbird-filled gardens and refreshing infinity pool of Casa Maya will unwind and enfold you.

About Don and Christina Volkmann
After many years of traveling in Mexico, Don and Christina Volkmann followed their dreams and built Casa Maya. They hail from the Pacific Northwest where rains are abundant. Sharing this sun-drenched paradise with friends and family is truly a pleasure.
Don and Christina Volkmann purchased this Villa in 2011
Why Don and Christina Volkmann chose Troncones
We searched far and wide throughout Mexico for the perfect spot. Here it is, in Troncones, where the surfing breaks and beach are uncrowded and glorious. This location is perfect for people who enjoy being outdoors and participating in every aspect of the natural environment from fresh fruit and delicious produce, abundant fish---to colorful flowers, birds, and marine wildlife. We especially love the proximity to several surf breaks, the chance to swim every day in the bay, and of course the rich culture of Mexico and the warmth of the people who live here.
What makes this Villa unique
Each vista from Casa Maya captures the raw, natural world of the beach. From lounging on the outdoor terraces to cooking beside a wall of stars, Casa Maya allows you to be a part of every breeze and wave, rocking with whales, pelicans, hermit crabs or iguanas--- and even the hummingbirds that dart into the outdoor showers. A stroll down the beach affords tasty restaurants, ceviche and beer, and of course a swim in the bay, or boogie boarding and surfing. Whether sprawling in a lazy hammock, hiking in the tropical forests, or saving a baby turtle, Casa Maya grants a true chance for reflection and relaxation.

Location
Casa Maya is located just outside the town of Troncones on Manzanillo Bay, about 40 k north of Zihuatanejo. Troncones is a delightful pueblo of about 60 homes. In the sun-splashed town, you can purchase sundries, crafts, tortillas, get a massage, save a baby turtle, as well as sample tasty fish, ceviche and and tacos at lazy beachside restaurants. Available are several yoga retreats with classes and seminars, a small church, caves for hiking, bike and surf rentals, horseback riding, salsa dancing, as well as eco lagoon and hiking trips. The Troncones Point surf break is well known and 7 minutes walk along the beach from Casa Maya. There are other breaks close by (Saladita, The Ranch). The oceanfront pueblo five minutes walk to the north of Casa Maya, named Majahua, features a small fishing fleet where you can buy fish and lobster right off the boat, hire someone to take you fishing and whale-watching, ferry you to remote surf breaks, sample food in several beachside ramada restaurants or walk/run for miles north on the coast. If you like, spend a day or two in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo playing golf, swimming with dolphins, scuba diving, visiting markets and sampling the fine dining. The most appealing thing about Casa Maya and Troncones is the warmth of the people living there.
