Why Alecia Armstrong chose Plymouth
Why this property? We really love our cottage and its uniqueness as a real old time lake cottage. You won't find it trendy or cookie cutter, but rather true to its original intent as a lake side family retreat. They just don't build them like this anymore. Built in 1934 and added to in 1959. Since then we have continuously restored and updated, yet have kept that original cottage charm. We do have some rough edges in a few places, not many, Wake up every morning to a gorgeous view of the lake no matter what season. Swimming/kayaking/hiking in summer, ice skating/snowmobiling/ice fishing in winter. but they are there and it only adds to the charm. We are not cookie cutter! Centrally located between Killington & Okemo. We are in the heart of Vermont off historic Route 100. The cottage is such a relaxing, calming place. We have added many "must-have" conveniences with high quality creature comforts because it needs to be "that" special place. We love entertaining at the cottage because the set-up is so "entertainment friendly" and there is plenty of room for many friends to stay. The area is packed with fun things to do such as shopping in beautiful Woodstock, skiing/hiking at either Killington or Okemo, Long Trail Brewery lunches, tours & samples at the Plymouth Cheese Factory, and trips to Buttermilk Falls to name only a few. Harry's is our favorite restaurant and is less than 10 minutes down the road. Check out our FB page for the latest updates: Lake Amherst Vermont Cottage on FB.

Clean, convenient and everything we needed for a wonderful Feb break ski vacation. Thank you very much Alecia and John!
Meticulously considered retreat
Nothing has been overlooked in this beautiful, fascinating and extremely charming house.
Thanks Marianne! We loved having you stay and want to thank you for how well you treated our cottage. I hope you come back again!
Bigger than it appears in photos. Charming and well stocked with any kitchen item you could want!
This cabin is charming, clean and a total gem. There was more space than needed for our party of ten with one dog. The owner was super accommodating, quick to respond and fun to work with. Our family friends (with kids) and our older relatives all adored the cabin. Peaceful with great views and close to Okemo and Killington. This was a great find and we hope to come back again and again, only reason to not give a great review is we want to be able to get on the schedule in the future so don't want too many more people to know about it. Would be great in the winter (ski, views, gets very cozy warm) and in the summer (water fun, great hikes, volleyball court). We really want to come back, and hopefully sooner than later. Thanks, Alecia'
Thank you Jaime for being wonderful guests! You are most certainly welcome back anytime. Thanks for taking such good care of our "gem" of a cottage. We like her too!
Very nice property. Even better than the pictures. The first walk through was amazing.
The porch is extra special and where we had so much fun. Easy access to the lake and the kayaks and canoe were so much fun. Endless fishing from the dock and the canoe. We brought a big float where people could just drift around off the dock and swim dock. We were so content at the cottage that we hardly ventured out. The views are so enjoyable that we wished we could come back for the foliage. Our labradors loved the lake and lounging on the porch as well. Ten stars for a home so large that allows dogs and includes boats. And there will never be another porch like the one on Amherst Lake. Well done Alecia!!!
Wonderful location and gracious home. Thank you so much!
I'm a college student who loves to ski and ride, my friends and I make a point to have a getaway every year and ski around vermont. Once we pulled in we knew we were in for a good time, it's completely out of the way, but an easy drive to Killington and Okemo mountain. It's nice and tucked away with plenty of room to just chill. It's a really well decorated place, feels like I'm coming home to moms' house. We found this great room on the second floor that overlooks the lake after you take the wooden panels off and hoist another panel, honestly couldn't imagine sleeping out there in the summer.
This place beats the crud out of any of the other places we've crashed in this half of the state, and we're sure to come back and keep the tradition alive.
P.S. Alecia is the bomb! We only had a problem with he internet and her son came over and got it working. Sorry if we left a mess in the kitchen too! 😅
So happy to hear about your enjoyable stay. Thank you for being so respectful during your stay and leaving the place quite tidy actually. It certainly sounds like you fully enjoyed the cottage. You even found the summer sleeping porch (enclosed) during the winter an unexpected treat, that's great......an adventurous group you have. The kitchen was fine and I find your concern endearing. You must be referring to all the food you left.......Thank you for leaving so many unopened food items for us to donate to the homeless shelter; it's really appreciated by our community! The wifi was fine; somebody unplugged the smart board to plug in a music player. We moved the smart board. All set!
Equal distance between Okemo's Jackson Gore and Killington's Bear Mountain areas. These 2 areas allow less populated access to Okemo and Killington. We'll give you the inside scoop on how to get around and save time so you have more time to ski!
