A one-room Vermont mountain Cabin one mile to picturesque Belmont Village and Star Lake, and 6 miles to Okemo Resort and Ludlow. Enjoy this guest cabin on a knoll above our home, with a deck overlooking Star Lake, meadows, mountain vistas and spectacular sunsets. Sleeps 1 or 2 guests (Queen); completely renovated with new, modern kitchenette and bath. A beautiful mountain get-away, yet close to activities.

Nearby to mountain lakes - swim, fish, boat rentals. Central to sightseeing, golf, tennis, horseback riding, hiking, biking; near historic Weston Playhouse and Weston Priory. Surrounded by Vermont forests and autumn foliage.

We are in the heart of the Green Mountains between Killington and Stratton/Bromley. We have beautiful (spectacular!!) views off to the west and northwest (great sunsets). The cabin sits on a hill, at the edge of a pasture, at 2100 feet above sea level and overlooks a lake and mountains beyond. We are one mile from Star Lake which has a beach and boat access.

Share our corner of Vermont paradise, surrounded by 180 acres of our land, and hundreds more acres of friends, family and the State of Vermont. We have our own trail network for hiking, and there's lots of other hiking all around the town and local area. On our land across the road from the cabin there are four beaver ponds that string along a brook that runs into Star Lake.

Although nestled away in the hills of Vermont, our cabin is in the heart of the Vermont ski and tourist area so there are lots of restaurants, shops, and activities within 5 to 10 miles.

NO SMOKING

DOGS allowed with permission; please inquire when booking.

(sorry, NO CATS)

NOTE – no TV, so enjoy a real get-away vacation :) ... tho the cabin does have hi-speed internet :):) and a radio/CD player.

About The Owner

My wife and I are retired and live full time in Belmont. This guest cabin sits on a knoll above our house. Come visit us in our little corner of paradise :)

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004

Why The Owner chose Okemo

Ron's family began coming to Belmont for summers in 1956 and his parents moved here full-time from New York City in 1970. As a teenager Ron worked on a local farm and the family came up to Belmont for every vacation, all year 'round. Ron and Dottie moved here full-time in 2001 and enjoy all of Vermont's seasons -- You will too :)

What makes this cabin unique

We are in the heart of the Green Mountains between Killington and Stratton/Bromley, and minutes to Okemo. We have beautiful (spectacular!!) views off to the west and northwest (great sunsets). Our cabin sits on a knoll at 2100 feet above sea level and overlooks a lake with a 75 mile view across the mountains of Vermont and into New York State (we see the highest mountain in NY). We are one mile from Star Lake which has a beach and boat access. The cabin is very private being surrounded by 180 acres of our land, and hundreds more acres of friends, family and the State of Vermont. We have our own trail network for hiking, snowshoeing and xc skiing, and there's lots of other hiking all around the town and local area. On our land across the road from the cottage there are four beaver ponds that string along a brook that runs into Star Lake.

..... and we have a moose that visits every now and then [EMAIL us for this picture and many others].

Although private, this cabin is in the heart of the Vermont ski and tourist area so there are lots of restaurants, shops, and activities within 5 to 10 miles (Mt. Holly, Ludlow, Weston, etc.)

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks again, Ron. It was a pleasure meeting you. I had a wonderful time there in your neck of the woods... one of the best weeks of my life... really!

Please keep me updated on things. I believe I would like to book again next year. Maybe for two-three weeks this time. (Mid Sept to mid Oct., perhaps).

Thanks,
Oct 2006

Serenity with beautiful views

  • 5 of 5

We loved it! We definetly would book again. Clean and charming cabin with wrap around deck. Ron and Dottie were great hosts - available, friendly but also unobtrusive. On same road as cabin is Plew Farm which has a farmstand and Crowley Cheese Factory established in 1828. The bed is very comfortable, water pressure and temperature of shower perfect, and walking up hill behind cabin with our dog in the mornings great way to start the day. Nearby Ludlow has grocery store, laundry mat, restaurants, bakery, and shops. There is a close by hike up Ludlow Mountain. We recommend Tacos Tacos and Sweet Surrender Bakery in Ludlow. Thanks Ron and Dottie! We want to come back.

Perfect vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with the rental. The cabin was exactly as advertised - maybe even better. The accomodations were plenty large enough for my husband and I and our small dog. The view from the deck was so nice, but the grounds around the cabin were lovely as well. The owner was nearby for any emergency (we did not have one), but will not bother you in any way. He did call, after we checked in, to make sure all was well - which I thought was very considerate. We loved watching the wildlife and listening to the birds. Great vacation!

Delightful Rustic Vermont Cabin

  • 5 of 5

WOW! The view.....from the deck is fabulous. The cabin was cozy and very comfortable. Everything we needed was provided. It was clean and neat. It was close to our activities of hiking and kayaking. It was a refuge after the wild ride down the mountain coaster at Okemo!

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Ron was very gracious. Would we come back again? Yes, we are already making plans. Thanks for a great vacation.

Wonderful Get-a-Away!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was quaint and perfect for two people. The views from the deck were amazing - we spent a lot of time out there. We spent more time at the cabin than intended because it was so wonderful. We were looking for a relaxing weekend and this was the right place. The bed was very comfortable as well. Ron and Dottie were away but called us to check in and if we needed anything, they were an email / call away.

Wonderful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is very clean and well stocked. There is good hiking in the area, we did Okemo Mountain and Buttermilk Falls. Stop in the Belmont General Store for some yummy sandwiches to take on your hike.

Ron the owner, is quick to reply to any questions you may have. A fun weekend, we hope to return.

2016 Closers!

  • 4 of 5

Our first vacation in Vermont and Ron had the gas stove warming the studio cabin upon our arrival. Sweet. Even with snow and high winds over night, we were comfy cozy in our little room. The cabin had all the amenities we needed and the setting was superb. Our short stay was busy with a trip to the Vermont Country Store just a few miles down the road into Weston. Tons of free sampling so I skipped lunch! Hiked Ludlow Mtn (Okemo ski hill) which I would rate as easy to moderate. Upon reaching the summit you must complete it with a trip up the fire tower, regardless of the high winds... Our highlite on this vacation was a trip to the Vermont Inst. of Natural Sciences in Quechee, just an hour away. Lots of interesting and educational programs and information on birds of prey; bird rehabilitation; great lectures; etc. Check out their website because they do fantastic work there. If you're a Nature Nut, you will truly like this adventure. The Local Country store at the bottom of the hill from the cabin was quaint, quiet and well stocked. West Lebanon is only an hour away if you're looking for taxless shopping! All in all, the cabin is well situated, very comfortable, well equiped and we barely scratched the 'exploration' surface of this beautiful area of Vermont. We are due for a return trip in the New Year with a longer stay (and earlier booking dates) as there is still yet a lot more to explore. Thank you Ron and Dottie for allowing us to stay and experience the beauty and your hospitality of the Green Mountains. Hope to see you once again some time in the New Year .
