For those of us who live on the shores of Lake Martin, we see, feel, smell, taste and live the majesty of this beautiful lake. One only has to view its beauty and awesomeness from places like the Kowaliga bridge, the Smith Mountain Fire Tower, the lookout at the Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail head, and Acapulco Rock to know what a treasure we have in this east-central part of Alabama. If you are a golfer, there is nothing more beautiful than the view from the course at Willow Point. If you are a fisherman, there is nothing more satisfying or peaceful than sitting quietly in a calm slough waiting on the big one to bite; or, if you are a skier or wake boarder, there is plenty of large open water on which to practice your skills. We are truly blessed! I recall that it was said in the 1950s and 1960s that Lake Martin was 99.9% pure and free of harmful chemicals. For many of us, Lake Martin is home, where we have raised families, earned livings, enjoyed the recreation that the lake provides and just enjoyed life. For these and many other reasons, we call Lake Martin a treasure.

In 2010, Governor Bob Riley signed an executive order designating Lake Martin “A Treasured Alabama Lake.” This designation simply put the stamp of approval on what we already knew. Lake Martin was the first Alabama Lake with this distinction. The TAL designation provides a level of protection for generations to come, but it does not unduly restrict development around the lake. It does require strong environmental considerations in the future.

Why Jason Sager chose Dadeville

When you walk into Bayou, you immediately feel at home. Water views greet as you enter the front door. saying relax and stay a while. The expansive Great Room

gives you incredible views of Lake Martin's beautiful clear blue green water. You can have as many as 24 guests here, but still have your own privacy. Huge bedrooms are all like master suites, and the library and media room offer you places to have some quiet time. The dining room and kitchen are very large and open onto the huge covered porch. An expansive deck joins the waterfront of nearly 400 feet. Private Retreat would be an understatement here.

Only one other home in view looking over the expansive lake views toward Chimney Rock. Across the lake is a day use park and Camp Alamisco, Deep water allows easy boat access to the dock and great swimming and diving for the kids. A shallow sandy beach is along the lake wall for the little ones.

We have been owners on Lake Martin since the mid 90's.

We have enjoyed renovating this home for our future guests and our personal family. We look forward to you making this special place your home for a few days, a week, or longer. You won't find another place on Lake Martin that can accommodate your retreat, family reunion, or vacation as this wonderful property will.

So indulge yourself and stay with us the next time you come to the Lake.

Great space, needs some love

  • 3 of 5

The house has a beautiful view, great outdoor space that we used the entire week.

We were disappointed with some of the furnishings. One recliner was broken and peeling and the couch upstairs in the living area was also peeling. lucky for us we didn't spend much time inside😊 Also, the kitchen needs some help. I couldn't find a knife to clean cut a tomato. We had to go purchase a couple of large pots to cook spaghetti and sauce for our family. This house sleeps a lot of people,I would have thought the kitchen would have had pots/pans to accommodate. plus the broken down boats and wave runner definitely didn't add to the beauty of the view. The cottage bath needed some attention. The price is much higher than some much nicer properties we've stayed in the past. We wanted to give Alabama a try and were not disappointed in the area or the lake.

If you have a large family and need lots of sleeping room, this house has that.

Overall, our family enjoyed our time together.... it's about family.

Owner's Response: The damage was done to the sofa upstairs and the chair downstairs by renters in July and got worse each week. There was no time in between renters to fix this. I'm sorry. It is being taken care of asap. A houseful of people can be hard on the furnishings. Of course, no one takes any responsibility for the abuse. The owner's boats were recently not working and there was not a place to store them. They have been removed. As far as knives, there are two knife blocks full of knives and some extras in the drawer underneath. There is also a knife sharpener. Knives become dull with so much use. I had 2 large pots such as used for shrimp boils. I've never had complaints about how the kitchen is stocked and have always tried to furnish whatever was asked within reason. I'm glad you had a nice time, despite your complaints.

Lake Martin family fun

  • 5 of 5

We had a large group of 23 from ages 18 months to 64 years young.

The house was very spacious and the lay out made it so everyone was able to have space and quiet time if needed. The bedrooms were large and each one had it's own bathroom which is a big bonus.

The 3 levels of deck off the covered porch (which is nice when it rained or we needed shade) gave us plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the outdoor activities.

There is plenty to do for all ages. Swimming & fishing in the lake (which is gorgeous) was a daily occurrence from sunrise to sunset. We rented a boat from a local marina which was only about a 10-15 minute boat ride back to the house. It gave us the opportunity to go wakeboarding, tubing and visit Goat island and jump off Chimney rock.

Carolyn was a wonderful host. She quickly responded when we had any questions

We highly recommend this property without reservation.

A great BIG thank you for making our family vacation full of memories

Beautiful house, beautiful serene, scenery! We had family reunion and at the same time, celebrated Thanksgiving together and my mom's 80th bday!!

Everyone had a beautiful spacious room to enjoy. The kitchen and living room saw many meals and celebrations..... the large back deck allowed quiet conversations..... easily used our kayaks and went on hikes.

What a great week!

  • 5 of 5

This home was exactly what we needed! We had a group of 16 friends/couples. This house was perfect for us! Each couple had their own bedroom and bathroom. The common areas were absolutely huge!!! It never felt like there were too many people in one space. The porch and dock area are great for spending the whole day outside. Unlike other homes on Lake Martin that we have stayed in, this home had a bit of shallow water for standing/swimming, which was nice for those that didn't want to float the whole time. Easy tie up places for the boats and jet skis. Great owners that took care of us from start of the process and throughout our stay. If you have a group that wants to have the best time on Lake Martin, stop searching and book this house!!!

A wonderful family Christmas vacation!

  • 5 of 5

A mixture of family met at Lake Martin for our "week after Christmas " vacation. The house and property were wonderful. The children played "hide and seek" inside and out. The playroom was wonderful. We only ate out one time and enjoyed cooking and having meals together in this beautiful setting. We look forward to coming back in the Summer.
