My home is an absolute one-of-a-kind 3,200 square foot meticulously maintained beach house, located in a very desirable location in historic Lewes, Delaware. In less than a three hour drive from Washington, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and NJ, you'll be relaxing in comfort and ready for a dip in our pool or a walk on the nearby beach.

Let me begin with the area, aside from the incredible boardwalk and beaches, there is something for everyone! Located just a half mile away from our home is the best winery in Delaware – Nassau Valley Vineyards. Complete with gorgeous views, a historic museum, and very reasonably priced tastings! Just a mile away is downtown Lewes, complete with marinas, fine dining, bakeries, cafes, ice cream, and of course the beach. Take a day trip into CapeMay, N.J. on the ferry that leaves from Lewes. It's a lovely boat ride and once you arrive, you'll enjoy the history, shops, and just strolling down quaint streets lined with the Victorian mansions of Cape-May! Cape Henlopen State Park a 10 minute drive, offers beaches, biking, hiking, hourly boat/kayak rentals, the Sea Side Nature Center, and of course the historic World War II observation towers. Not a good day to be outside? No worries – beginning just a mile down route 1 begins the endless stretch of outlets. From the basics to the very high end, all of your shopping needs can be met, and best of all, it's tax free!! For you children and teens, there is a water park, go-kart track, and miniature golf. Five miles away you will find exciting Rehoboth Beach offering endless dining experiences, boutiques, as well as a beach boardwalk with plenty of goodies for you and the kids. As if that isn’t enough, there's fabulous golfing, light houses, casinos, live music venues, and more.

Although you may be exhausted after beaching it during the day and enjoying the area’s night life, you will completely recharge at my quiet, comfortable, well decorated home. Located away from the main road and at the end of a dead-end cul-de-sac, you will sleep well in complete silence. From the living room, there is plenty of well manicured grass to play on, and you can enjoy your morning coffee on the back deck. My beach home is only 5 years old, has brand new furnishings, with modern construction including an open kitchen, great room, 3 and one half baths, and a loft overlooking the living room complete with a game table. With 3,400 square feet, you will not find another property this size in this price range. There are 3 bedrooms – the master suite includes a king-size bed with private bathroom including a full tub, separate shower, and his-and-her sinks. The 2 other bedrooms are up-stairs, large and bright, and share a bathroom with his-and-her sinks. All bedrooms have loads of closet space and ceiling fans. Downstairs you will find a finished basement which includes another full bath and a wet bar. This large area makes a terrific play room or can serve as an extra bedroom. Speaking of play, the upstairs loft has an additional wall mounted flat screen TV. and foosball table. If you don’t feel like heading to the beach, simply walk down to the community pool – a pool pass will be included for you at no extra charge. The property is also perfect for a winter get-a-away, forget the furnace and heat the whole house by the gas fire-place with just the flick of a switch. The kitchen is fully equipped and has everything you'll need to cook or prepare meals including dishes, pots, pans, a gas stove. Pack lightly, as my home has a brand new upscale washer and dryer.

Discounts offered for payment by check!

I am experienced at renting and ensure professional cleanings. My home is only 2.5 hours from Philadelphia, Baltimore, and D.C. I assure you that the rental process will handled promptly, smoothly, and with attention to detail. I look forward to sharing my home with you!

About Jacob Ellwanger

Experienced at renting properties. Professional and timely. I live full time only two hours away in downtown Washington, D.C.

Jacob Ellwanger purchased this townhome in 2012

Why Jacob Ellwanger chose Lewes

I have been coming to Lewes frequently for over 10 years now and finally purchased this property because I love the area so much. I have traveled extensively and have never found an area quite like it. It has all of the beauty that nature can offer from the large beaches to the state parks or simply the woods behind my house. At the same time, the area has all of the conveniences of home whether you need to run to the bank or grocery store. Few places can you find such unique bars, restaurants, and boutique shops while also enjoying large-scale tax free outlet shopping. Each trip I take here is different - sometimes I never leave the house and have mimosas on the deck until walking to the pool. Other times I'm out all night letting loose and still other times I spend the entire weekend out-doors enjoying the beaches, trails, and local history. The area is extremely kid friendly with board-walk arcades, candy, bumper cars, water parks, go-carts, and more all within 5 miles. There is truly something for everyone here!

Beach was nice

  • 2 of 5

Lewes, Delaware, is very nice, the beach is very clean, with clean bathrooms with showers, and a snack stand.

The house needs some attention. There was a wasp nest hanging from the garage when we pulled up, the bushes were in need of much trimming, and when we opened the front door we were greeted with a ceiling fan missing the globe, with a bare light bulb. The kitchen must have had a leak, and plaster was hanging down.

The bathroom toilet upstairs ran every 15 seconds, contacted the owner, his reply was that he was aware of it. No internet. Broken blind in master bedroom. The trash can and recycle can in the garage were completely full!!! Stains in rug in a upstairs bathroom.

Could go on. Very disappointed.

Owner's Response: This comment and experience is an odd outlier from all other's. The home intentionally shows better in reality than what is shown in the listing pictures. The furniture in the living room, loft, and lower level has all been improved and updated from what you see in the listing pictures. The kitchen has also received updates from what is shown. Most guests are thrilled by this! Internet service was active for this guest and the guest never notified me of no internet during their stay - it would have been addressed immediately if I had been contacted. All guests have my personal email, cell phone, and text to reach me. I was notified of the toilet refilling and I actually replaced the toilet with a brand new one the day this guest checked out. Minor, non-urgent maintenance issues are not addressed while guests stay because most guests do not want to wait for a repair man, or have a plumber accessing the home unaccompanied. As for the landscaping, this is managed by the HOA. This has been the wettest summer on record and shrubs have grown quickly since the last pruning. Our community at Eagle Point is very well maintained and actually has this reputation throughout Lewes and Rehoboth. If Eagle Point's landscaping did not meet this guest's expectations, no development in the area would! As conveyed in the guest's welcome letter, guests are responsible for taking the trash from the garage to the curb on trash day. As the owner, I can not control if previous guests missed trash day. Luckily the bins are over-sized and can easily contain more than one week's worth. Renting any 3,400 square foot home in mid-season, there will always be areas for potential improvement. Updates are done yearly on the property in off season. The furniture is all new, linens and paint are updated yearly, and carpets shampoo'd twice yearly. After spending 13 years going to Lewes, I can assure future guests that my property is incredibly clean, well maintained, and one of the best VALUES you will find. I am proud to stand behind my property. I am sorry this guest didn't agree, but wish that these issues were expressed to me during the stay - I was never called and only notified of one minor maintenance issue that was promptly addressed. I encourage potential future guests to reach out to me with questions and read through the previous reviews - ALL 4 or 5 stars.

Owner's Response: Hi Jan. I was actually at the property just days before you arrived and came immediately after you left. All TVs work perfectly. I did notice after you left that the livingroom TV's settings were changed and it was on the wrong input setting not connected to the cable. I'm not sure who in your party changed this. I will add to the welcome letter instructions on which setting TV's should be on and that all you need is to hit the "all on" button on the DirectTV remote to be connected to the cable. I wish you called me during your stay on this problem as all of my guests, including you, are provided with my cell number (along with my direct email and text) before check-in. I can insure that EVERYTHING is always in working order for all of my guests. I'm glad that overall you were happy with the house and location!

Wonderful home!

  • 5 of 5

This was a delightful home. Very spacious-perfect for two families as the upstairs had its own sitting room which provided privacy for all and great space to get away. We did not even use the basement which was also a wonderful get away space. The beds were comfortable and the owner was very easy to work with. He was very accommodating and provided little extras like paper towels and hand soap in the bathrooms. It was great not having to take linens. I would definitely rent here again!

First try at a "HomeAway" and could not be happier with the home, location and owner.

  • 5 of 5

This home met all our needs; plenty of space, clean and comfortable, owner very caring, even the neighbors very helpful on where to eat, etc. Highly recommend this type of family vacation and definitely this home! Great access to beaches, Golf, boating, restaurants and shopping for the ladies. Bring your beach chair and umbrella! Thank you Jacob - will see you again in the future. Bob and Family
