The Cottage is located in the historic residential area just 2 and a half short blocks from The Historic Downtown Courthouse Square. There is a tremendous array of activities at The Square and you are literally only a short 3 to 5 minute walk from The Square and the famous Whiskey Row. You can contact the owner, Larry Schmidt, via phone at (928)499-9213 to answer any questions that you might have regarding the rental.

Our premier property for rent near The Historic Downtown Square is The Cottage, which has over 1,550 square feet of living space with hardwood floors and travertine tile throughout. The Cottage has two bedrooms, 1.5 baths, large family room, separate dining room, fully stocked kitchen, dining area with window seat and laundry room. The furniture is well appointed, and provides a romantic, cozy, cottage feel as if you were in Carmel or Monterey. In addition, we are dog friendly, so bring the pooch.

The master bedroom has a king sized bed with a large walk-in closet and nicely appointed sitting/reading area. The master has its own television. The second bedroom has a queen sized bed. In addition, there is a large hide-a-bed in the family room. The Cottage can easily accommodate 5 to 6 people.

The living room has a brand new large Samsung 46 inch flat screen HDTV, HD cable hookup, Blu-Ray DVD that streams Netflix. In addition The Cottage has a high speed WiFi connection. The dining room can accommodate 6 or more for your bountiful Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter dinner!!

The kitchen is fully stocked to the satisfaction of even the most discriminating Chef! The gas stove is nestled within a old brick hood, and guests can watch you prepare meals while seating in the kitchen nook or cozy window seat.

The best is left for last...the intimate secluded patio. One of our recent guests, refers to this patio as The Plaza (see our reviews). Escape through the back door to Paradise, and listen to the birds chirping and relax in the cool shaded patio. Read a book or just meditate. We just renovated the entire patio with pavers, new barbecue and plantings.

Virtually all of our past renters have rented The Cottage for one to three months, and we already have repeat renters reserved for some of the months in 2016!!! So if you want to enjoy your stay in Prescott at virtually your home away from home, please come and stay at The Cottage.

Check out our other exceptional properties all within walking distance of downtown! The Artist's Loft (VRBO #336756 our property near historic Park Ave), and The Terrace and The Townhouse (VRBO 423532, which are our properties next door to The Cottage)

About Larry Schmidt

Larry Schmidt, owner of the Terrace, Townhouse, and Cottage, welcomes you to his VRBO units. You can reach Larry at (928)499-9213 to discuss the rental of any of his properties. Larry is still working for a company out of Minnesota and travels extensively. He enjoys golf, hiking, and traveling. Larry feels Prescott represents the charm of the West with midwestern values which is illustrated by the community centric Historic Square.

Larry Schmidt purchased this cottage in 2012

Why Larry Schmidt chose Prescott

When The Cottage became available for purchase in early 2012, I jumped at the opportunity to purchase this unique and fantastic property. I had watched this property over the last several years, and always felt its street appeal and exceptional location were perfect for travelers exploring all that Prescott and The Historic Downtown Square has to to offer. In addition as a result of The Great Recession, our 401K like many others became a '201K'!!! I have made substantial improvements to the outside patio ('The Plaza') resulting in a fabulous venue, especially for long term guests for one or more months.

This property has been a labor of love, but it is now a shining jewel nestled in the residential historic district. All day long people stroll around the block with their dogs admiring the array of historic and eclectic homes, and The Cottage is a significant part of the area.

What makes this cottage unique

This property is like a private home which is very close to all of the activities of the Historic downtown square yet nestled in a quiet well kept neighborhood. Please call Larry Schmidt, the owner, at (928)499-9213 to answer any questions that you might have about his rental properties.

The street appeal of the Dutch Bungalow architecture is charming.

The star attraction of Prescott is the Historic Downtown Courthouse Square and the famous Whiskey Row. The Courthouse was the original Territorial Capital for Arizona beginning in the 1860s, and Whiskey Row is the site of western saloons and brothels of years past! The Square is the heartbeat of Prescott, where you find a vast variety of boutique and specialty shops, original saloons, locally owned restaurants (including organic only restaurants), local art galleries, museums bars with live music.

In fact virtually every night of the week, you will find at least one bar with live music. On the weekends, you will have a choice of country, classic rock, hard rock, contemporary and jazz music. Starting in the spring going through the early fall, there is musicians during the week at The Square sponsored by the City of Prescott.

Prescott has often been voted one of the top five cities to retire in, but there is a vast array of activities for all ages. Our location easily facilitates day trips to the Grand Canyon of Sedona with its awesome Red Rock vistas. When most people think of Arizona, they think of the hot desert (remember it is dry heat, but over 100 degrees is too hot regardless) and Phoenix or Tucson. But not Prescott, since it is at 5,300 elevation within the Prescott National Forest. Feel the cool summer nights and escape the heat of the desert!

Don't forget to come during the fall and winter, since Prescott is a year round destination with four distinct seasons, but with temperate temperatures in both the winter and summer. Some annual seasonal events to remember are as follows:

In April the annual world famous amateur and pro Whiskey Row Off Road Mountain Bike Race

During the first week of July the Oldest Rodeo in North America and Fourth of July Parade around Downtown

For the month of October, Mount Vernon Street (one street east of the property) with its Victorian Homes are totally decked out for Halloween, and our Halloween Eve the street is shut down for the kids and Trick or Treating

Prescott is renowned as the Christmas City of Arizona. The Historic Square is totally decked out with lights and decorations. The first Friday in December is Acker Night, where the Square is closed to traffic, and all of the shops and restaurants/bars have musicians playing. Also there are two separate Christmas parades.

So what are you waiting for, come visit and explore all that Prescott and The Historic Downtown Courthouse Square has to offer.

Charming Victorian Cottage

  • 5 of 5

This charming Victorian Cottage is in a prime Prescott location, walking distance to Whiskey Row. We walked to shops and awesome restaurants. We relaxed on the patio with our books and wine under the apple tree. We even ate the apples! We watched TV by the fireplace in the evening. This unit is VERY CLEAN and stocked with everything to make our stay comfortable. We will definitely stay here time and time again.

Charming cottage near downtown Prescott

  • 5 of 5

A sweet, in-town experience, with walks to shops, galleries and restaurants. Larry was attentive to the few items that needed repair and care during our stay. We enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen and the large, shady patio.

Fantastic . . . THE BEST!

  • 5 of 5

Another home run in Prescott. We fall more in love with this property every time we stay. It could not be more perfect. Great location, beautiful setting, well appointed, comfortable, relaxing, what more could a person ask for? The dogs loved it as well. A nice, safe enclosed yard to play in. Heading home always comes too soon.
