Great family friendly beach vacation

Lots of dvds and games/puzzles for those looking to relax and stay in. Wonderful community extras like a generous hot tub and play courts. Easy trip over the dunes to a quiet lovely beach! We saw tons of seals in the water and lots of birds along the shore. Quick trip up to Santa Cruz or down to Monterey.

Gorgeous Beach

Location is amazing. Views from upstairs bedroom spectacular. Lots of space for dining, games, reading, and relaxing. Kitchen well stocked for cooking. Fast WiFi. Easy check out process. This is a special spot!

I'd stay here again, but wish they'd give the place a once-over!

Good news: the location is gorgeous, 3 minute walk to beach, lovely to hear the ocean all the time, and plenty of room to spread out, including dining area. Kitchen was well stocked with implements. Short drive to amenities. Not so good news: the whole place needs "refreshing" -- baseboard heating elements are rusted, caulking in bathroom in disrepair, had to stand on a chair to lower the blinds, outdoor furniture was dirty and worn, most games in the closet were broken or incomplete and couldn't be played.

Relaxing long weekend at the Dunes

Overall, we enjoyed this condo. The kitchen was well equipped, the furniture and beds were comfortable. The only issue we had is that most of the time we could not connect to the wireless to get internet, once in a while it would work but for the most part it did not. Also. some extra blankets in the bedrooms would be nice as i was a little chilly. Would definitely stay at this condo again.

Safety suggestions.

This was a great place for a family vacation. It would have helped our seniors to have handrails on the front porch steps & back deck steps. Also a grab bar next to the toilet would have helped.

View was beautiful - place was out of date

If you are wondering what happened to all the 1970's furniture. It is located at this location. The view was beautiful, the furnishings were terrible and old, bathrooms outdated. Trouble with wifi, power went out on day 2, so no power and no showers. Surrounding restaurants close at 7pm , so eat early.

Could be better

The property had great views. The beds were comfortable. The heater in the downstairs bedroom did not work. They had a portable heater in there but it was not very efficient. And made notices on high setting. There were no instructions for thermostat which only read in Celsius. And no instructions for the TV remotes The outside patio furniture was very weathered unlike the pictures online. We did find lots of crumbs between the seat cushions too. But all I. All it was a comfortable place to stay.

The Good with the Bad

The unit itself was certainly clean andcomfortable but came with a large variety of minor issues and problems related to a combination of seriously postponed maintenance and the timely replacement of a variety of items. These items ranged from burned out light bulbs, aging lamps, corroded trim, broken and jammed windows and sliding screens, an inability to get hot water in at least one shower, old and worn kitchen towels, etc. In addition the kitchen was devoid of coffee filters, matches, condiments, plastic bags and other items along with the pleasure of drinking from plastic water and wine glasses.

We have stayed at Monterey Dunes many times.... for a reason. Easy check in.... super friendly staff, accomodations exceed expectations. We will be back!

Monterey Dunes is amazing!

We LOVE the Monterey Dunes community. This condo is perfectly nice. It was exactly what we needed for our extended family to come stay over the holiday break. The walk out to the beach is amazing and it's just such a relaxing and restorative type of place. We have now stayed in 3 condos in the community and this specific one could use a little maintenance/updating but it's a-okay for a short trip to the beach! There's a couple closet handles that are broken, little things like that.

Labor Day Family Gathering

Overall, it was great. The property easily accomodated our party of 9 and some guests that joined us for dinner one day. It is a little older property but has good accomodations. We enjoyed the easy access to the beach and all the activities including flying kites. Tip: check the bbq first for charcoal and lighter fluid - both were already there so we brought both unnecessarily.

Wonderful views and cozy living, close to good food and attractions. So quiet!

The house and level of service was good. There WAS a mouse in the kitchen we saw a couple evenings, but it didn't get into anything we were aware of. The outside trash cans were too full to add anything to during our stay, which caused some wrestling with other trash that was already there. The views were beautiful and beach access was so easy. We saw a pod of whales the morning we left right out from our condo. So amazing!! We would definitely recommend it or rent again!!! My parents stayed in the downstairs and said the broken drawer pulls were a hassle. Also, a funky stinky smell from the laundry room made us keep the door to the laundry closed the entire time. Workers were reroofing all day on several days, which was noisy with their generator running all day. And the ocean side blind pulls are mounted REALLY high for the average height person. Might consider lowering them or going remote? Also, no coffee filters made it another step for us to go and buy some, along with charcoal. Oh, and the smoker we accidentally opened looking for the BBQ was completely moldy inside. Little things that were slight inconveniences, but overall, a great place!

GREAT GET AWAY

Wonderful beach house...so convenient for our YAYA Get Away!! Didn't want for anything so felt just like being home!! TV wasn't working in Living Room BUT a housekeeper was sent RIGHT OVER & problem solved!! Only, not so good, problem was a smoke smell that permeated our clothes & just wouldn't go away after windows were opened & Fabreeze sprayed. Found out previous renters had quite a fire going even tho sign said NOT to use fireplace if windy....which it was the entire time we were there! So quiet and so convenient to all the Central Coast cities!! Thank You to the Rental Office & Property Staff....you were all Angels!!
