About Charles Carey
I am a son of the island. I was born and raised in nearby Nassau. But my family roots on Harbour Island go back to the 1600s. The apartment was constructed by my grandfather in the 1960s and has been in the family continuously ever since. I took over this year and have given it a complete and thorough renovation with updated decor. It's a gem of a property located above the harbor in historic Dunmore Town with sweeping views of the sea.

Harbour Island used to be the best kept secret of the few who first discovered its charms 50 years ago. Well, the secret is out! And more and more discriminating travelers are discovering it. Good news is -- it remains relatively unchanged. An island of three miles with a few chic but small hotels, its capacity is limited. Which is good news for those who venture here. The spectacular pink sand beach (one of the Top Ten in the World) is never crowded. In fact, sometimes you might have it all to yourself!

Apartment Royal was spacious, convenient, and Charles could not have been nicer!!!
What a wonderful place. We went to Harbour Island for our nieces wedding and were looking for an alternative to the resort to stay at. We found Apartment Royal and talk about hitting a Home Run!
The pictures on line did not do the apartment justice. They are all accurate, but the size of the apartment itself and the room layout was much more spacious than we had imagined.
It allowed for all of us to be together or enjoy some private time if necessary. The views from the balcony deck were simply MARVELOUS!!!
Charles was kind enough to offer and get us some initial provisions as well as provide us with a lovely welcoming note, bottle of champagne, and bottled water in the bedrooms. All little touches that confirmed that we had made the right choice on where to stay.
And talk about convenient!. The dock was a 10 minute walk from the apartment and the food store and liquor store are right around the corner.
We hosted a small family dinner one night cooking burgers & dogs on the grill and had plenty of space for everyone.
I can't say enough good things about the experience we had at Apartment Royal or what a wonderful host Charles was.
We are not sure how soon we will be able to make it back to Harbour Island, but we do know where we will stay!!!

Great location and
Apartment Royal was great! The location and view are amazing. It is close to all the main stores, restaurants and dock. The beach is a short walk or golf cart ride away. The apartment is nice and large with plenty of beds for larger parties. The balcony is great with beautiful views of the bay and sunset. There is a nice backyard patio as well. The beach umbrellas, towels and toys were very helpful. The owner was always super helpful with what ever we need. Highly recommended place to stay!
Apartment Royal's location can't be beat! We loved staying in Dunmore Town. Great shops and restaurants all within walking distance. Wonderful bay views from the terrace. The apartment was spacious and comfortable for our family of four. Charles was a terrific host. Thoughtful touches include welcome bottle of wine, water, beach chairs and toys. Don't miss a visit to the art gallery downstairs. Terrific art and a well curated selection of books, jewelry and accessories.
The owner Charles is very Pleasant and helpfull We arrive a day before because I mistook and he found me a room ,he drave us to the hotel and came to pick up tomorrow.
The appartement is very well décorated and It has a beautifull Terrace overlooking the Beautifull beach is 5 minutes with a golf cart
We had such a splended stay at Apartment Royal. Super fresh, clean and tasteful place to stay. Two bathrooms with tubs. Located in the very central part of Dunmore town with the sweet little food store, deli and wine store right round the corner. Couldn't have had a better location. Also nice habour view fron the spacious balcony. Charming outdoor patio and outdoor shower and mini garden. Extra plus for the sweet and welcoming owner Charles who also runs the lovely gallery downstairs. We would gladly stay here again. / Leila with Family.
