Casa Feliz (Unit 11) is a luxury condo occupying the entire 2100 sf second story of the stand alone building in the Del Pacifico Resort. It is the upper unit directly above Casa Marilyn (Unit 9) both villas are advertised in VRBO. Our condos both feature pictures of our beautiful complex pool. Casa Feliz, on the upper level, is the only condo visible in the photo with tropical trees and plants in the foreground. Both condos have the same floor plan and finish outs Casa Feliz, on the upper level; however; has 10 foot ceilings. The 25' high skylight over kitchen floods that area with natural light. The unobstructed views of the ocean and the grounds, high vaulted ceilings, skylights, ceiling fine unworn furnishings, artwork, high-end beds, custom bedspreads, Egyptian linens super abundant supply of cookware, glassware, flatware and kitchenware from this upper level condo are found to be make guest visits very special!

Del Pacifico is unlike any other place in Costa Rica--strategically set on rolling hills with spectacular views of the Costa Rica rain forest on one side and the palm splashed coast of the Pacific Ocean on the other side. The Resort is enormously popular with guests because it is "city close" to the towns of Jaco and Parrita and "country quiet" from crowds, congestion and traffic noises--a perfect place to rest, relax and renew.

The Del Pacifico Resort is located in Esterillos Este in the Province of Puntarenas in central Costa Rica on the Pacific Ocean Highway. You will drive about 1:45 minutes from the Airport in San Jose by car of taxi shuttle on new and/or well maintained and marked highways on Interstate Highway 27 and Pacific Cost Highway 34. You can get there by rental car or by a Shuttle Taxi. I use Dollar-Rent-A-Car for my car rentals. They have very good rates and service and you can rent a GPS from them. If you're not fond of driving there are two reliable Shuttle Taxi Services in the area. The last time I checked the far from the airport to DP was $140 for a party of up to 6 persons.

Along the way to the Resort you will view Costa Rica's beautiful countryside, drive past quaint villages and colorful custom villas, small restaurants, tourist shops, grocery stores, and dozens of roadside fruit and vegetable stands. If time permits, stop at a roadside stand and load up on delicious fruits and vegetables for the condo.

Del Pacifico is a master-planned community designed by internationally famous architects whose Spanish Colonial Revival Style is woven into the entire development- including thick stucco walls, clay tile roofs, decorative iron railings, massive square pillars, arches, colonnades and mosaic tile domes and Olde World cobblestone roads wind throughout the resort's extensive grounds of stately palm trees, lush tropical landscaping and manicured lawns and hedges. The Resort is comprised of 3 areas--1) A Town Centre, 2) A Condominium Complex and 3) A Custom Home Community.---all protected by 24/7 Security Guards. The Town Center is currently undergoing extensive construction and its full concept will soon be realized. A Bistro, a full-service Restaurant, and a Grocery Market are all a short stroll away from the condo.

In addition to being on Highway 34 facing the Pacific Ocean, the resort is about midway between the tourist town of Jaco about 20 mins. to the North and the quaint town of Parrita about 10 mins. to the South. These towns, about 18 KM and 10 KM respectively from the Resort are places where you can buy groceries, exchange money, dine out on fresh seafood or shop to your heart's delight for Costa Rican treasures. Using Casa Feliz as your "home base" you can venture out on "day trips" to many of Costa Rica's famous tourist attractions--including Quepos for Sports Fishing and White Water Rafting trips,, Manuel Antonio National Park, Arenal Volcano, Whale's Tale Snorkeling, Ocean Whale -Watching, Waterfall Tours, Zip Line Adventures, Canopy Tours, Eco and Alligator Farms and last, but not least, the Nicoya Peninsula by Ferry Boat for its white sand beaches, deep blue Ocean waters and quaint coastal communities and specialties.

Casa Feliz is a spacious 3BR/3BA family-friendly designer condo located in the center of the Resort in the Condo Complex known as Villas Del Pacifico (VDP). In addition to IT'S GREAT LOCATION, VDP's amenities include---two free-form mosaic tile swimming pools, a hot tub, a wading pool, an outdoor shower, a small water fountain and pond---along with poolside bathrooms and changing rooms. Adjacent to the main swimming pool is a free Wi-Fi zone veranda-style Rancho or Pavilion providing a perfect place for hosting parties, having cookouts, playing games , using the internet or meeting other guests. The Management Office, located below the Rancho/Pavilion is a short stroll from the condo is a can answer most all of your questions and quickly address any maintenance problems which may arise.

From the landing at the top of the stairs as you enter the condo's vestibule, a large oil "beach landscape" painting on the left wall welcomes you to fun times to come. Straight ahead is a custom glass and wrought iron table and matching mirror.

The foyer, living and dining areas all comprise the great room. The areas are divided by beautiful teak floors in the entry and living rooms and Italian tile flooring in the dining room and throughout the rest of the condo. The floors of these areas all have thick palm-motif area carpets.

A low- level cocktail table is the living room is surrounded by a fine Italian leather sofa, a matching love seat and two Costa Rican Rocking Chairs creating an intimate conversation nook or a place to recline in the evening while watching your favorite TV shows on the large flat-screen TV.

Floor to ceiling double glass doors from the living area open up onto the Master Balcony constructed with massive square wooden columns, decorative curved iron railings, Italian tile flooring. The balcony has a woven wicker loveseat and a pair of matching side chairs complete with upholstered weather-proof cushions. A glass-topped coffee table finishes out the ensemble--perfect for morning coffee or afternoon cocktails.

The dining room is furnished with a custom-made glass-topped table and 6 woven-wicker and wood chairs The buffet behind the table provides handy storage for two sets of place mats, napkins, napkin rings and fine flatware for entertaining or dinner parties.

A breakfast bar on the dining area side separates the kitchen from the dining area. and provides a additional space big fruit bowls or serving dishes for dinner parties.. Six (6) suede upholstered swivel bar stools provide seating for alternative eating..

The Master BR has a connecting 5-piece bathroom. It is furnished with a king-sized bed and two matching marble-top night stands with two reading lamps. The custom bedspread matches the draperies in the room. On the wall opposite the bed is a large combination Armoire/Chest for hanging and folded clothes. On either side of the Armoire are folding leather stools for luggage. Tropical pictures and artwork finish out the room.

Floor to ceiling double glass doors open the Master BR up to a second balcony on the front of the condo which has two woven-wicker outdoor chairs and a center cocktail table. You get your best views of the ocean, the swimming pool and the Rancho/Pavillion from this balcony. I especially like the location of this balcony because its proximity if to the swimming pool allows me to check on family members at the swimming pool if necessary.

The Master Guest BR has a its own private 3-piece bathroom. This room is the "Tommy Bahama Room" and is furnished with a queen-sized bed, matching nightstands, table lamps and a curved wooden bench at the foot of the bed. Sisal carpets, tropical pictures and artwork complete the room.

The third BR has twin beds, a double dresser and a nightstand with s table lamp. Like the other rooms, the bedspreads are custom-made of fabric that matches the custom drapes. Tropical pictures and accessories complete the room. This bedroom shares a 3/4 bathroom with kitchen and guest areas.

The Kitchen has granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances----stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and microwave. The double stainless steel sink has a garbage disposal. The kitchen also has a good-sized pantry for storage of food and dry goods. The kitchen has great natural light from its 25' high skylight. A large wrought iron chandelier, hanging down from the 25' skylight lightens up the area at night.

When staying at Casa Feliz you will appreciate the well-stocked kitchen cabinets filled with full sets of dinnerware, flatware, glassware, wine glasses, skillets, saucepans, dutch ovens, baking sheets, muffin tins, storage containers, mixing bowls, strainers, chopping boards, measuring cups and cooking utinsels galore. I could go on and on about the small appliances, the Toaste Oven, the Blender, the Food Processor, and the Coffeemaker, but you get the picture. The kitchen is well stocked for stays of 30 days or 3 months.

As the retired owner of a family-owned national finance business headquartered in Boulder, CO, my professional skills include retail installment financing, sales and marketing, organizational dynamics and portfolio investing.

My education includes a BS degree from the University of Louisiana and graduate work at the University of Colorado.

As a Christian and a person of faith, I am very involved with my home church family and leadership. I have led and/or served on missionary teams in several foreign countries over the past decade.

My hobbies include-- gardening, swimming, weight training, duplicate bridge, hiking and keeping up with my eight grandchildren.

I strive to insure that I have "Happy Guests" in my "Happy House."

Lillian Bickel purchased this condo in 2008

Why Lillian Bickel chose Puntarenas

I travelled to Costa Rica in 2008 looking for a vacation home. Within 4 months I became the proud owner of Casa Feliz. I was most impressed with the Developer's vision of a "Master-Planned Community" designed by internationally renowned architects woven into rolling hills with plans for a Town Center, Retail Stores, a Grocery Store, a Bank, a Post Office, a Health Club, Restaurants, an 18-hole Golf Course, Custom home and Condominium complexes, Quaint Cobblestone Roads and Lush TropIcal Landscaping. I fell in love with the "story" and am encouraged that the development is moving forward toward the vision. We're not there yet, but gradually the concept is taking shape--especially in the Town Centre which I mentioned earlier.

Our central location on the Pacific Coast Highway is another reason I purchased my condo. Guests can use Del Pacifico as their home base and travel from one end of the state to the other in one (1) day when they desire.

The bus stop is across the highway and right in front of the Town Centre. Backpacking guests can walk down from the condo, jump on one of CR's fine public buses and go anywhere in the country for a few colones.

I was particularly impressed with the quality of construction--thick stucco-clad walls, clay tile roofs, ornate iron trip, ceramic tile stairways, teak and italian tile flooring, majestic balconies, granite counter tops, stainless appliances, dishwashers, garbage disposal, 10ft- high ceilings, ceiling fans, air conditioning, etc., etc.

Del Pacifico is "City Close and Country Quiet." It's close enough to Jaco and Parrita, but far enough away to be a quiet, restful retreat from the noises and the bustling crowds.

The proximity to Bejuco Beach is another reason I bought my property. Bejuco Beach is one of the most spectacular, yet undiscovered, beaches in all of Costa Rica;and truly one of the greatest places in the world for morning walks and evening sunsets.

What makes this condo unique

Unique Benefits of Casa Feliz:

1) Pacific Ocean Views--You are are situated on the 2nd floor of a stand alone building located high on a hill providing unsurpassed ocean views, evening sunsets and the roaring sounds ocean waves.

2) Proximity to Complex Amenities---We are on the 2nd ridge of the complex--a short walk to the Complex Pool, the Management Office, the Resort Supermarket and Restaurants. The MBR Balcony has great visual and verbal access to the community swimming pool, wading pool, hot tub, the Rancho/Pavillion and the tropical gardens below. .

3) Sights and Sounds of CR Songbirds--The master balcony outside the Great Room is surrounded by 30 foot high tropical trees, populated by tropical canaries, parakeets and colorful MacCaws, can only be experienced from the master balcony of "Condo 11." The balcony is a my favorite spot in the early morning to relax in the "cool" morning breezes with a steaming cup of Costa Rican coffee enjoying the sights and sounds of the multitude of songbirds who have a fondness for the many branches of the adjacent shade trees.

4) Proximity to Bejuco Beach---This relatively undiscovered beach, only 5 minutes away, is spectacular and goes on for miles and miles with picturesque palm trees. It's contamination free "Blue Flag" designation makes it a #1 for wading in the surf, jumping waves, shelling or building sand castles.

5) Proximity to Tico restaurants and fresh from the ocean seafood menu delights.

6) Low Occupancy: Due to the large number of absentee owners in the complex, it would not be unusual for you and/or your group to have the entire pool complex and the Lanai Pavilon to yourselves for the majority of your stay.

7) Tropical Forest Views--Casa Feliz is the first building on the middle ridge next to the cobblestone road. On the north side of the road is a tropical rain forest that can be enjoyed from the Casa Feliz's main balcony or stairway.

Fantastic lodging for a great R & R "get away"

  • 5 of 5

Very luxurious, yet economical, “Casa Feliz” (Del Pacifico resort) proved to be an outstanding choice by three old friends and me for our three week Costa Rica trip in February 2015. We’ll return!!!

The beautiful furnishings and interior appointments of Casa Feliz exceeded our expectations, as did the lovely ocean views from the 2nd. floor balconies. When not “out and about” or otherwise enjoying this lovely area, we enjoyed some really great R & R both inside the condominium and outside around the pool and hot tub.

A bus stop on Hwy. 34 directly in front of Del Pacifico made it easy for us to access shopping, dining and lots of fun destinations, both near (Parrita, Jaco, Parque Manuel Antonio) and far (Nicoya Peninsula and Monteverde and next trip, Oso Peninsula) without the costs and liabilities associated with rental vehicles. Of course, taxis and other transportation are readily available.

Lovely and comfortable, Casa Feliz is exactly as described by its responsive and accommodating owner/manager Lillian Bickel.

The four of us went to Costa Rica for a relaxing, rather than hurried vacation, and that is just what we got!!! RELAXATION!!! I highly recommend Casa Feliz as your luxurious and comfortable home "away from home."

Family of Five, Young Kids, Fantastic Stay

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa Feliz for five days and had a fabulous time -- we loved it! We're a family of five and our children range from 5 years to 8 months. The house was setup perfectly for our family; spacious, comfortable, plenty of room to unpack suitcases, and situated in a wonderfully quiet community. Two smaller families could stay there with ease.

We spent our days visiting with friends who have their own beach house in Esterillos Este, going back and forth between the ocean and their pool. At the end of each day, nothing felt better than coming back to Casa Feliz, hot and exhausted, and enjoying refreshing showers, air conditioning, and letting the kids settle down in a cozy bedroom free from bugs. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you would need, including tupperware. It was easy for us to drive the ten minutes to the nearest grocery store and stock up for the stay.

The balconies have great views and are for perfect for morning coffee and reading. Because we were often out with friends, we didn't make as much use of the community pool as we would have liked, but it really is fantastic, with a shallower kiddie pool that our kids loved.

Additionally, Lillian was great to work with. She's very quick and responsive with communication and took a sincere interest in making sure we had a good stay. We would happily go back to Casa Feliz and easily recommend it to others.

Beautiful and surfers delight

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful getaway in a beautiful location! Imagine this, a view and sound of the ocean from the balcony as well as the pool, wading area and hot tub located right below. Being from Colorado I especially appreciate the lush tropic floral gardens and thick green landscaping while listening to the tropic birds. The unit is quiet but other guests or home owners are also present for the chance to have social interaction. My personal favorite activity in Costa Rica is as a beginner surfer. With the help of instructors the surf was easy enough for me to get up on the surf board (60 plus year old women) but challenging enough for the World Championship of surfing to be held in the area. I was able to find quality surfing instructors both at the local beach and in neighboring Jaco. Surfing is much like skiing; you can find “green” waves and “black diamond” waves just a short distance away depending on wind, tides, and bottom structure. Riding the zip lines over the rain forest with the view of the ocean approaching was also one of my favorite days. Located on site is a stable with horses and tack for a ride on the trails where I overlooked the ocean, rolling hills and saw and heard monkeys calling. Often in the evenings, we’d travel to a local restaurant where we dined on local fish delicacies and fresh fruits and vegetables. One year of the two I stayed at this condo, we chose to travel by local bus both to and from the airport and visit the neighboring towns for groceries and activities. I always felt comfortable and safe and enjoyed the local Costa Ricans. I am a non- Spanish speaker, but the locals went out of their way to make me feel welcome. I highly recommend this condo for a peaceful getaway. I traveled with a group of 5 women once and two of us on another stay and found the accommodations to be beautifully decorated, very functional and clean. I vote “yes” for this being a place to stay.

A wonderful getaway. This is a very beautifully decorated, comfortable condo that accommodated 6 adults for a week. The grounds are very lovely and the pools are just a delight. Very often we were the only ones using the facilities. The beaches, about a 5 minute drive away, were so beautiful and hardly another person on the beach. The local restaurants were quaint and the food was excellent. We never had a bad meal while we were there. This condo is remote, yet close enough to enjoy the tourist attractions. You will need a car. As stated in the description it is a second tiered condo so there are many steps. Something to consider if you have any physical limitations. We really enjoyed our stay.

Casa Feliz is a designer condo occupying the entire 2100 square foot second story of the stand alone building in the Del Pacifico Resort directly above Unit 9 also featured in VRBO.. Each condo has the same floor plan, the same finish outs, sleeps six people and has similar rates; but the interior furnishings are quite different.

Del Pacifico is in the Province of Puntarenas strategically set in the rolling hills of the Esterillos Este countryside in the splendor of exotic Costa Rica rain forests and palm-fringed coasts of the Pacific Ocean.

To get to the Resort you will drive 1:45 minutes from the airport in San Jose by rental car or shuttle on Interstate Highway 27 and Pacific Coast Highway 34 on new and/or well maintained highways. Along the way you will have breathtaking views of the countryside, and drive past quaint villages, custom villas, Tico, tourist shops and many roadside fruit and vegetable stands. Stop and pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables if time permits.

Casa Feliz is ideally situated between the the towns of Jaco (18 Km to the North) and Parrita (10 Km to the South). Jaco is a popular tourist town and Parrita is a quaint Costa Rican town. Both towns provide all of the services you might desire..

Surfing is a big sport in the area. You can join locals and visitors alike on Saturdays at the Backyard Bar in Jaco drinking Mojitos and viewing surfing competitions. Few guests know that there is a great Farmer's Market on Fridays in downtown Jaco on Friday's--a great place to stock up on fruits and vegetables again..

About 40 minutes south of Casa Feliz the Sports-Fishing town of Quepos. Just south on the outskirts of Quepos is the enormously popular Manuel Antonio National Park, one of Costa Rica's most celebrated spots

Casa Feliz is ideally located for " day trips" to popular attractions in the surrounding area including--ziplining, canopy, whale-watching and waterfall tours, snorkeling, kayaking, deep-sea fishing and fly fishing. A 2-3 day trip to the Nicoya Peninsula enjoying its white sand beaches, deep blue ocean water, its picturesque coastal communities and indigenous people should also be considered.

Situated just across the highway from the Del Pacifico Resort is Bejuco Beach, one of the most spectacular beaches in all of Costa Rica. The beach stretches for miles. With palm-fringed beach on the one side and crashing on the other side, make it truly a place to embrace. Relatively undiscovered by locals and tourists, one can walk for hours and pass only a handful of people while you meander along the surf. You can wade across a shallow inlet at the north end you will likely have the beach all to yourself. A little known fact is that Bejuco Beach has the coveted "Blue Flag Beach" designation for its debris-free shores and sanitary waters.

My favorite times to visit the beach are early morning and late afternoon. Early morning visits are good for beach combing, shelling and breakfast at the Delfin Resort Hotel's beachfront restaurant watching the waves come crashing in. Late afternoon visits are specifically to capture glorious sunsets on the Pacific Ocean. For guests, this is absolutely a "Mist Do."

If you like horseback riding, immediately south of the Resort is a Costa Rican Riding Stable with experienced guides and horses for all skill levels. Late afternoon rides heading deep into a tropical rain forest crossing streams, winding through trees and vegetation, then climbing up high hills for awesome views of the ocean and scenic vistas. The ride then crosses highway down a dirt road to the beach just in time for the another memorable red/orange sunset . If you are an experienced riders can the guides will let you cantor on the beach or romp in the ocean surf if desired.

If you like dining out, the area has a number of great local restaurants specializing in fresh seafood dishes. Fried Red Snapper, fresh off the fishing boats, is my personal favorite. Remarkable local restaurants are sprinkled along the way from Parrita in the south to Jaco in the North. Lists of recommended restaurants are available in the condo.
