About Robin Norkus
We live on the north shore of Chicago and bought this beach house for family use a few years ago. It is the only rental we own and are renting it out for the first time ever. Because we are unable to get down there as often as we'd like to due to our children's busy school schedules, we've decided to rent it out so others can enjoy our little piece of paradise!
Robin Norkus purchased this House in 2009
Why Robin Norkus chose South Beach
I meticulously scoured the Atlantic coast (which we prefer over the Gulf because of the constant breeze for better waves and lack of bugs), and found Vero to be the perfect town. In Florida, location is everything! Too far north can be chilly, too far south can be crowded and commercial. Vero is an unspoiled treasure: it's safe (no pierced and tattooed crowd), upscale (without being snobby), residential (vs. high rises and highways owning the beachfront), has a good demographic (only 29% over 65 years old), has a small town feel (yet offers great shopping, fine dining and close proximity to Florida's main attractions) and has gorgeous beaches. Wouldn't you like to be able to have your kids roam free on their bikes without worry? And this is the house we chose for ourselves! The open floor plan, bright, sunny and comfortable feel with maximum windows/French doors to look at the view make it the ideal choice!
What makes this House unique
Being in an oceanfront home makes all the difference in the world! No elevators...no sharing the pool...no noise ...no driving to the beach...and no cover-ups needed! ;) Our neighborhood is guarded, quiet and close to town! We fell in love with the charm of this house from its yellow and blue exterior to its large, spacious, sun filled rooms. Your fabulous beach vacation awaits!

Our family had a great stay at this ocean front Vero Beach home. The pictures and description accurately depict the property. The house was clean, spacious, and in a quiet neighborhood that is close to downtown Vero.
There was a little construction going on at the house next door and across the street, but it did not effect our stay. We would definitely stay here again.
Another amazing vacation at this incredible beach home
Much to our delight, our family - daddy, mommy, our 4 year old daughter, and her grandma - enjoyed our stay at this beautiful beach home even more this year than we did last year! From the moment one enters the foyer, this house exudes quiet, calm, comfort and grace. The three bedrooms are all tastefully furnished, the gourmet kitchen is spacious, well-equipped, and well-lit. We especially like the upstairs great room with hardwood floor, built-ins, and large TV. The oceanfront balcony is a great place to catch the sunrise, or enjoy a cocktail before dinner. We cooked some great meals, grilled fish and steaks on the gas grill, mixed lots of beach drinks, and spent lots of time in the pool. We enjoyed breakfast upstairs while introducing our daughter to the Star Wars trilogy, took long walks on the beach, and returned to several of the excellent local restaurants we discovered last year. The neighborhood is gated, safe, and quiet (we were not at all bothered by the renovations being done on the house next door). And we have come to enjoy Vero Beach - gourmet grocery stores, a great local book store, and a location perfect for heading up to Disney for a quick visit. Elegant and comfortable - more like a friend's home than a rented beach house. We made some great memories during our stay this year, and we look forward to returning for years to come.
Beautiful property, great location!
Beautiful home on a very private and gated street. The home is mostly updated with a nice kitchen and comfortable, beachy furnishings. The view and the beach is incredible. There was no one around on the beach and I've never experienced that in my life. The beach literally couldn't be any more peaceful or beautiful.
Inside the house had a lot of nice features. The upstairs balcony had the best view in the house and was right next to a wine fridge and ice maker - you were never far from a cold beverage! I would suggest putting a slightly bigger table up there for dining as we ate up there for the view at almost every meal. We loved the fruit tree, the back deck with the grill and the just the general beauty of the property. The master bedroom was huge, comfy bed, great shower, etc.
I would have given 5 stars except that next door a considerable construction project was underway which was not communicated to us prior to the visit. Being at the house during the day and sitting outside when this was going on was impossible as the work going on at the adjacent property was mostly outside. (Being inside was much better but I'm on vacation!) Wasn't the worst thing ever but the loud noise meant we didn't have the option to sit at the pool during the day or lounge around on the deck in the mornings as late as we would have liked to.
One picky thing - there were not trash cans available to use outside so the garbage sat in the laundry room until trash day. This was stinky.
Despite the construction we'd go back in a second to stay at the home again. It was a very restful week.
Works perfectly for us!
We look forward to future winters staying at this perfect house! It can accommodate more guests than we had but is just right for a couple too.
The house has everything you need and the location is wonderful. We were two adults and two children (9 and 12) and everyone enjoyed themselves. The house is comfortable, and the location is perfect. The beach by the house is deserted most of the time, here you can enjoy some peace and quiet. We saw a lot of marine wildlife during our stay and also three bobcats! I do quite a bit of running, and normally I don't run on beaches, but this is a great running beach. I did several 6-8 miles runs both north and south of the house. I read some prior complaints about the internet in the house, I had no issues, and I use it a lot.
One improvement in the house would be some kind of sound system (like a Sonos), but that is just my personal preference. If you, like me, like listening to music, consider bringing your own.
I highly recommend renting this house!
So glad you enjoyed your stay! Thanks for pointing out that the internet has long since been upgraded (fastest available). Happy you enjoyed our beautiful beach for running and spotting animal life! It's rare to see a Florida bobcat (for those of you who aren't familiar, they live up and down the coast in the dune and are a little bigger than a house cat ;). So interesting!
An extraordinary beach home!
This was the nicest, most comfortable, most relaxing home we have ever rented! Our family - me, my wife, our 3-year old daughter, and my mom - spent two pleasant weeks enjoying the pool, cooking some great meals in the gourmet kitchen and on the BBQ, walking the beach, and just plain relaxing. We felt less like renters and more like we were guests in a friend's home. The rental process was simple, the property was spotless and well-maintained, and the home and property are even nicer than shown in the photos.
Vero is a charming, upscale community on a barrier island on Florida's Treasure Coast. Darling shops and restaurants dot the oceanfront town (no hi-rises or franchises allowed!). Grocery and drug stores, mall, Target, movie theater, gas, etc. just over the bridge on the mainland. Conveniently located for fun day trips to Orlando's theme parks, Cape Canaveral or Palm Beach. Nearby golf, boat and fishing expeditions, airboat tours, art museum, treasure museums, Wildlife refuges, McKee Botanical Garden, Indian River Citrus farms, horseback riding, etc.
