We are Charlottesville's newest and best located vineyard and winery.
Property is secluded and quiet yet sits minutes from Charlottesville. Situated in the middle of world class wineries and other historical attractions.
We sleep up to 14 people in three queen sized rooms and a loft bedroom arrangement. The beautiful and expansive building overlooks the vineyard and sits in the middle of 36 private acres which include hiking trails and a large lake.
We have renovated this beautiful vacation and event center and installed the vineyard . We recently received our license to operate a commercial winery as well as a brewery and are now available for special vacation rentals.
Ed Pierce purchased this estate in 2012
We have lived here most of our lives. We bought this property because we believe that it offers the best of both worlds. It is quiet, secluded and private yet is located minutes from the many attractions of the Charlottesville area. It also has the historic aura of being part of the original Meriwether Lewis family estate (One of the original springhouses is situated on the property)
This is a beautiful full-service winery which you can rent as a vacation rental. You can also enjoy our winery's close proximity to other excellent wineries as well as the natural and historic beauty of the Charlottesville area. The property offers the best combination of privacy and access to special attractions and events anywhere in the area.
I rented this house for a bachelorette weekend, and I could not have been more happy with our stay. We had nine girls total in the house, and it was perfect for us, as there were three bedrooms (plus the loft area) and three bathrooms. The house itself was stunning, and the dramatic scenery added to our overall experience.
Ed and Regina were absolutely wonderful. Ed stopped by on Saturday night and made us a fire in the fire pit, and Regina collected nine chairs from the beautiful yard so that we had seating. Talk about going above and beyond...
Without hesitation, I would recommend Meriwether Springs Vineyard to anyone. In fact, the girls and I are discussing our next weekend getaway.
Ed and Regina, thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us!
I had the pleasure of using this rental to host nine of my closest friends over the 4th of July weekend. I live in Charlottesville, so I had some inside information when selecting our home base. Even so, this home exceeded my expectations (and my friends'!) every step of the way.
The house itself is beautiful, from the large, open kitchen and sprawling floor plan to the well-appointed bedrooms. The grounds are similarly superb: we lounged on the sunny patio for hours each morning, enjoyed happy hour on the second-floor deck, and gathered around a big bonfire in the stone fire pit into the early hours.
The location is about halfway between downtown Charlottesville and Crozet, convenient to numerous wineries and also to downtown C-ville. The house is situated at the end of a gravel road, and aside from a quiet property visible through the trees, is a private escape.
Ed and Regina are wonderful folks, and I'm glad to have met them both recently. They clearly value their guests' satisfaction, and are very responsive before and during the rental. I couldn't recommend their rental home more highly.
We spent a weekend here as a big group to celebrate my sister's upcoming marriage and had simply an amazing time. To start, the property itself is absolutely gorgeous - I've never had the pleasure of staying on a vineyard before! The house is also beautiful and has clearly been carefully and lovingly cared for and decorated. The kitchen is a dream with every amenity one could hope for and the beds were comfortable and easily slept our big group of 16 (which is no easy feat!). The best part of our trip, though, was our hosts, Ed and Regina. They're absolutely lovely people and it was a pleasure to meet them and see all the hard work and love they've put into this property. Their welcoming attitude made our stay that much more fun. Thank you to Ed and Regina, and I hope to be back sometime soon!
We stayed 12/27/13 -12/30/13 with (2) families of 10 people including (5) teenagers. This was the perfect place to stay with plenty of space for everyone! The house is beautiful & very clean. All (6) kids elected to sleep in the loft which had (6) beds and a bathroom. Ed was a great host and the house was very well equipped -Ed had even set up a live Christmas tree! This was a good location to Monticello and Charlottesville. Five minutes to the Boar's Head Inn which had a great restaurant. We also went snowtubing at a ski resort within one hour. While we had intended to go out for dinners, we ended up staying in and ordering takeout a couple of nights instead to enjoy the great kitchen and house.
Over cocktails one night a group of my friends and I decided that we were well overdue for a long weekend. So I quickly went to work finding the perfect place for our little adventure. All eight of us live in the Baltimore area and we wanted to find a house that would house us all comfortably and allow us to go off of the daily grind grid while enjoying each other’s company and cooking prowess.
Meriwether Springs offered us all that we were looking for and much more. We enjoyed taking leisurely hikes around the vineyard, sipping wine on the patio, and cooking in the kitchen that felt like it was made for our group.
The beauty and comfort of the property were matched by Ed and Regina’s hospitality. The two were very helpful in helping us choose vineyards to visit and they made us feel at home all weekend.
Don’t think twice about staying at this special gem. We hope to be able to visit again very soon!
I spent the weekend at Meriwether Springs with a large group (15 of us) and have to rave about how perfect this location was for our weekend in the Charlottesville area. The house slept 15 comfortably and we loved the upstairs loft with it's charming layout (4 twin beds, 2 double beds) - perfect for catching up with old friends into the wee hours. The kitchen is stunning and left me with Kitchen Envy. The long family dining table is perfect for large groups and the patio outside was a wonderful place to chat and soak up the sun. We even took advantage of the large patio for a group yoga class in the morning, which we also could easily have done in the great room inside.
The owners were incredibly warm and welcoming, sharing with us their story and plans for this newest area vineyard. Their colleague, Tom, was charming as he led a few of us through complimentary tastings, helping us start our exploration of the wines of the region.
Meriwether Springs is a perfect home base for wine tasting at the many vineyards in the region and is just a 15-20 minute drive from the center of Charlottesville for shopping and great restaurants. I would highly recommend this property and hope to return when they begin sharing their own wines someday soon!
Property is a fully licensed winery and brewery and is the best located vineyard in Charlottesville, only ten minutes from the University of Virginia and very close to Monticello, golfing, skiing, Shenandoah National Park, and many other attractions.
