Year round special. Pay for 4 nights and get the 5th night free

Newly remodeled 1br/1ba with exotic hardwood floors, porcelain countertops, nickel appliances and hot tub overlooking the lake. Great screen porch for afternoon leisure. This villa is attached to VRBO# 353073 giving room for an additional 4 guests.'Rosella' is a cottage built on the shores of the beautiful and private Mountain Island Lake. Much of this lake is parklands, wildlife, sanctuaries and properties restricted from development. This home was built in 1952 and has provided decades of lakefront fun and fishing. Years ago the house was divided into two separate apartments. In 2011 we converted the upstairs into a vacation rental. In March 2013 we completely updated the decor. We provide high speed wireless internet, flat screen TV's, but you can get most of that at a Holiday Inn. The unique experience you get with a stay here is that little step back in time. It starts when you pull in to the skinny gravel drive and end up at a plain but well kept mid-century home. There are paneled walls unit a/c and no dishwasher. No subdivision, no pool, no tennis courts. There are only two neighbors. There is a 2 bedroom unit above that is also available for rent. Unless you plan on renting both units you should be planning a quiet stay. Prior guests that have most enjoyed Rosella spend much of their time on the screened porch overlooking the lake. Rosella was built right on the lake's shoreline. You are so close to the boats going by you can see right inside them. At night when they cruise by you could truly join in their conversation. The place is very popular and in our few short years leasing it we have had hundreds of guests. In that time we have learned that Rosella is not for everyone. We have done our best to accurately describe the "experience". If that slow paced step back in time is not what you are looking for you may not enjoy Rosella, if on the other hand, you would like to relive the way things used to be or experience it for the first time we don't think you will be disappointed. We look forward to your arrival. In 2014, we just purchased a new Harris Floteboat that will be docked at the home and available for rent. Rental fee is $150/day and includes gas and insurance. This rate is approximately 1/2 the going rate in the area. Boat rental is scheduled separately from the vacation rental. It is strongly advised that you reserve it prior to your arrival.

About Bob Rudolph

We are Bob and Kim and we are lake enthusiast. We own homes on several of the lakes in the area. We presently live on a lake close by and we love this place so much we spend many weekends here.

Bob Rudolph purchased this villa in 1990

Why Bob Rudolph chose World

Rosella provides a fairly unique experience for it's guests. Located in the city of Charlotte

there is not another lake front rental that is closer to downtown (typically 15 minutes)

The fact that there is another unit attached is a different twist and we are strict in our vetting of potential guests because of it.The result is that we have never had a compliant

about the behavior of an adjoining guest. In fact we have had guests that have met and

planed their next stay to coincide with their new found friends.

Many of our guests come to experience the National White water Center. If you come, we strongly suggest you visit there. It's a man made river rapids that you can kayak

or do a guided raft run. This is the only man made Olympic qualifying rapids in the country. There is vertical rock climbing, zip linning and a lot more outdoor adventures.

If you don't feel quite that adventurous there is a riverside restaurant where you can get a great meal and a glass of wine that you can sip while you watch crazy

people careen down a wall of water and rocks. There are also summer concerts and island sunset parties. It costs just $5 to park and nothing to visit the center.

You can drive from Rosella, park your car, and walk to the rivers edge in less than 10 minutes.

What makes this villa unique

Rosella truly sits on historic ground. The old Rozzelle plantation house was just 200 feet away, later named Laura's Rozzelle House. The old home was used as a pre-civil war ferry docking point and a boarding house and then restaurant until the 1980s. The property this house sits on has been used for rest and hospitality for about 170 years and if open your self to the experience you can feel it. Try not to think of Rosella as a commodity, leave your preconceptions of what it should be behind and open yourself to

feel the foot prints left by literally thousands of travelers that preceded you. If you can

do that we think you too will understand why we think Rosella is so special.

Very relaxing and great views

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay very much as we evacuated from Hurricane Irma. The property sits high over the lake and made for great views. Dog friendly which was a plus. Hot tub, fishing, views, grilling dinner and relaxing was what it was all about. Bob answered any questions quickly and accommodated any extra requests we had. He was a great host.

Will definitely recommend and return.

Great trip

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed 9/3/17 to 9/6/2017. Everything was more than expected. Clean and well furnished. Gorgeous views of the lake. Great screened porch. We enjoyed the Hot Tub and the pellet grill. We toured the lake and swam with our mini Dachshund using a two day rental of the their pontoon boat. We plan to do again.

Quaint Lakefront Hideaway

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this nicely appointed lakefront apartment. Bob has provided his renters with all you could wish for on a quick getaway. The opportunity to rent the Pontoon boat is a great plus and the dock lends itself to a good swim area in deep water. There is also the availability of a jacuzzi/hot tub to hop into during the cooled off evening hours. Although there are separate entrances, must consider that there may be renters above on the 2nd floor apartment. Still will recommend place to friends.

Just what we needed.

  • 5 of 5

Just what we needed. Great scenery, beautiful sights, perfectly located near a bunch of different restaurants, and tourist attractions. The cottage was great. Very clean and taken care of. Bob was just an email away when we had questions or issues. We needed a break from day to day living and that's what we got. Would go back again! Thanks again.

Wonderful visit

  • 5 of 5

This is our second visit to this lakefront home and we enjoyed it as much as the first time. Bob is kind and attentive. We rented the lower and upper floors for family and had a wonderful time. The place is clean and well equipped. The boat was a lot of fun and very reasonably priced. I love this lake as it is not as crowded as Lake Norman and during the week you have the lake pretty much to yourself. The view from the porch is great and the house is located very close to anything you would need. I cannot emphasize enough how great Bob is to work with. We will be making another visit in the future.

Car: necessary

This location is very convenient to downtown, National Whitewater Center, Paramount Carowinds and the Charlotte Motor Speedway. All are within 15 min. A unique feature to this property is that we have a boat rental company that provides your choice of either a pontoon boat or ski boat right from the dock in front of the house. Prices range from $35-$50 per day. Please inquire for additional details.

Please note We are struggling to continue to offer

the boats. We have had guests that over estimated

their nautical expertise and have had numerous accidents and mechanical break downs due to inexperience. We will have to have a large deposit

to secure a boat and please be honest about your

experience level. I am more than glad to take you

out and show you the ropes. Boats will be available

as it is mechanically possible.
