The Space:
Quiet mountain air, tall trees, and long evenings set the tone as you arrive at this cozy cabin tucked into the hills of Romney, West Virginia. Indoors, the warmth of an open living space draws you in, while outside, the stillness of the surrounding woods makes it easy to slow down and settle into the rhythm of a true mountain stay.
The cabin
You have the entire cabin to yourself, with a multi-level layout designed for gathering and unwinding. A two-story living area with an open floor plan creates a comfortable place to relax after a day outdoors, whether you are streaming a movie, playing games, or simply enjoying the quiet. Heating and air conditioning keep the space comfortable year-round, and WiFi is available for streaming or video calls, with the understanding that service can occasionally be slower due to the remote setting.
Sleeping arrangements
Sleeping spaces are thoughtfully spread throughout the cabin to accommodate up to seven guests. One bedroom on the upper level features a king bed, while another bedroom on the main level offers two queen beds. The lower-level game room includes a twin day bed, making it a flexible option for kids or extra guests. A full bathroom serves the cabin.
Kitchen and dining
The kitchen is set up for cooking and sharing meals together, with space to prepare everything from simple breakfasts to hearty dinners after a day. A dining area nearby gives everyone room to gather for meals, board games, or relaxed evenings indoors.
Indoor entertainment
The lower-level game room is a favorite spot for guests of all ages, offering a place to unwind, play, and spend time together. Children’s books, toys, and board games add to the family-friendly feel.
Outdoor space
The outdoor areas invite you to step outside and take in the mountain setting. The decks overlook the wooded surroundings. The hot tub offers a soothing way to warm up after hiking or sightseeing, surrounded by the quiet of the property’s private acreage. A grill and outdoor seating are also available when weather allows.
Nearby experiences
The cabin is a short drive from the town of Romney, where you will find local shops and restaurants. Within an easy day trip are state parks, scenic railroads, rivers, and mountain destinations like Timberline Mountain and Canaan Valley Ski Resort, known for year-round outdoor recreation.
Good to know
This pet-friendly cabin welcomes dogs, though cats are not allowed. Quiet hours are observed per neighborhood guidelines, and the natural mountain setting means you may notice seasonal outdoor elements despite regular cleaning.
Whether you are planning an escape filled with cozy evenings, outdoor adventure, or time together away from the noise of daily life, this Romney cabin offers a comfortable and inviting place to do just that.
Note
In accordance with neighborhood HOA rules, quiet hours must be observed in the evenings and overnight. For safety, the fire pit must always be attended while in use and fully extinguished afterward. Thank you for helping us respect these guidelines.
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but because of the natural mountain setting, you may still notice leaves, pollen, or other outdoor elements—especially in certain seasons. Nature has a way of leaving its mark, no matter how often we tidy up.
We often take our three little kids and dog to the cabin with us, so we're very family- and dog-friendly. Unfortunately we don't allow cats (we're allergic).
Wi-Fi is available, though due to the remote location, service may occasionally be slower or spotty. We recommend downloading any essential content ahead of time, just in case.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Disliked: Cleanliness, check-in, listing accuracy
Our family of six stayed for three nights. On the positive side, the view of the mountains was amazing and the provided pillows were very comfortable. However, it was an uncomfortable stay overall. Check-in was bizarre; the listing never mentioned an external agreement, which we were forced to sign the day before arrival when it was too late to book elsewhere. We also had to fill out a survey just to get the access document, which was packed with strict rules (like no cancellations for bugs, yet we couldn't find a fly swatter). The listing's bedroom layout was highly inaccurate. Crucially, the lower-level bed was entirely inaccessible from inside the house. You had to go outside through a separate locked door to a game room to reach it. We felt uncomfortable putting one of the kids down there.Information was confusing and incorrect. The Wi-Fi password on the fridge was wrong, forcing us to dig back through the document. We also received a text shortly after arriving asking us to take six bags of trash to the end of the street, to a bin that didn't exist. While the host eventually told us to forget it, the conflicting directions were frustrating.Brooms and a shovel were strewn outside, and a giant "Happy Birthday" sign was taped to the sliding door. Inside, the shower water pressure was abysmal; the water trickled so slowly I thought it would cut off entirely. Might be a great place for couples getting away, but not necessarily for a family with smaller children.

Thank you for sharing detailed feedback about your stay at Bluebird Hill Chalet. I’m glad the mountain view and pillows worked well, and I’m very sorry the rest of the stay fell short.
The check-in flow and required agreement should have been clear well before arrival — I’ve updated our pre-arrival messages and listing so any outside agreements or required steps are shown up front and not presented last minute. I also removed the survey barrier to access docs and clarified house rules language so it won’t feel unexpectedly strict. Housekeeping has been asked to add a fly swatter and basic pest-response items to the supply kit.
I apologize for the inaccurate bedroom description and for the lower-level bed access issue; I’ve updated the listing floor plan and photos and we’re evaluating options to improve internal access or explicitly describe that layout. The wrong Wi‑Fi label and the incorrect trash instructions have been corrected, and I’ve asked the team to remove leftover decorations and outdoor tools between stays. Maintenance has been assigned to investigate and improve the shower water pressure.
Thank you again — this was very helpful and we’ll use it to make concrete fixes.

About the host

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
