Waterfall Wilderness Retreat Bordering the Ozark National Forest
ALL- OR 4-WHEEL DRIVE REQUIRED ADULTS ONLY (MINIMUM AGE 18)
SECLUSION AT ITS FINEST! Escape from everything to "Halcyon" - a beautifully-appointed cabin overlooking a waterfall in true wilderness with all of the amenities. This property includes a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom house with cedar interior, 40 acres of private forested land with rocky outcroppings, a spring-fed stream that runs the entire length of the property, culminating in a beautiful waterfall next to the cabin, and shares a border with the Ozark National Forest, providing hours of hiking, exploration, and photo opportunities.
The house is furnished with craftsman cedar tables, bedframes, dressers, and chairs, comfortable lounging furniture, and everything you’ll need in the kitchen, including a dishwasher, washer, dryer, coffee maker with pods provided, and microwave. The bedrooms include one on the main floor (queen bed, overlooks waterfall) and two on the 2nd floor (one queen bed in loft area with smart TV and DVD player with 50+ DVDs, one comfortable futon in room overlooking waterfall). The "great room" has a vaulted ceiling, a large wood-burning fireplace, a smart Roku TV with Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, and a dining room overlooking the beautiful waterfall. There is also a bonus room on the 2nd floor overlooking the waterfall that can be used as a 4th bedroom with tri-fold foam mattress (provided) or an office with a spectacular view. Enjoy all of the comforts of home: robes, dinnerware, flatware, spices and herbs, condiments, pots and pans, cookie sheets, bedsheets, pillows, towels, blankets, etc.
Also included are patio furniture, screened canopy, portable fire pit, charcoal grill, folding chairs, and a two-person anti-gravity chair.
For an unforgettable experience, follow the stream west to the border of the Ozark National Forest, where it is possible to hike from the north side of the stream for days downstream through untouched wilderness and beautiful waterfalls.
The charming town of Jasper is only a 20-minute drive and is a popular hub for canoeing, horseback riding, fishing, kayaking, hiking, and many other outdoor activities.
IMPORTANT NOTES: * An all- or 4-wheel drive vehicle is required to get to the property, as the last mile is gravel (maintained by the county) and gets relatively steep at points, and there is a small stream to cross to get to the cabin. Rain in the forecast makes it an even greater requirement.
* Two vehicles can be parked in the driveway right by the house, and there is more parking across the stream and up the gravel road.
* If more than 4 adults arrive at the house upon check-in or arrive later, we reserve the right to turn guests away with no refund of monies paid.
* This property is not conducive to children; the minimum age to stay is 17 years.
* The waterfall is lowest in the summer months, and we've seen it get down to a trickle or even go dry during the dry months of August and September. We can't predict when this will happen, and cannot be held liable for the water level of the spring-fed stream that feeds the waterfall. We can only pray for rain during those times!
* The stream next to the cabin is not fishable, but fishing is possible within 20 minutes of the property. Please contact the Buffalo Outdoor Center for more information about fishing in the area or visit their website.
* This property is in Newton County, which is a dry county, so alcohol should be bought and brought in from elsewhere. The nearest liquor store is 40 minutes north on the south side of Harrison, Arkansas (WOW liquor).

Absolutely loved the stay. communication was excellent making sure there was detailed directions and made sure we arrived ok. Only wish that there was lights lighting up the creek and waterfall at night.
Great Property and Location. Unfortunately, due to summer conditions, the waterfall was only a trickle or less. The property is a great, remote getaway though.
Very relaxing place to visit, unwind, and disconnect from the busy life. The waterfall was amazing, hard to believe this place exist however my wife and I enjoyed our 25th anniversary on the property. We would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice quite relaxing vacation to disconnect from the world and experience the beauty of nature.
The location is stunning!!! Everything was exactly as described, and the cabin was so well stocked! The owners were so great in communicating and making sure we got there okay. Such a relaxing and beautiful trip! I would definitely recommend this stay if you are looking to unplug, get away, and relax. The views were the best of any location I’ve ever stayed at!
This was our second time at this special property. It is stunning, tranquil, and serene. It’s the perfect place for us to recharge. The owners are lovely. We love it here.
Truly the most magical weekend of our lives. We are praying that God gives us the opportunity to go back longer because we had a 14 hour drive that was supposed to be 7ish…ate into our time which was a bummer, however the time we had there was pure magic. One day, if we can afford to go back at all for even a day would be a blessing. This place is where you need to go to escape the world and connect with yourself, your partner, your family, and God. Cannot recommend it enough.
The pictures don’t do this place justice. The creek was running and the waterfall was perfect. The property is very secluded. Alum Cove is close and the Buffalo River and several trails are nearby. This place was perfect to celebrate my wife’s 40th birthday.
This is was our second time staying here and it was just as relaxing and recharging as the first time. There is something magical about this place, the sound of the falls, the fresh breezes.... We never want to leave. The hosts were helpful with any questions we had and the house was fully equipped with all the things we needed - including a few extras in case we forget something. We have an AWD 4x4 Kia Telluride and it made it down and out with no problem. However, we did discuss bringing a higher vehicle because the small stream changes with each heavy rain and the last one kicked up 2 larger rocks that would have been easier to maneuver around in a taller car, jeep or truck.
What a perfect hidden gem! We were lucky enough to experience the falls in full glory. My son hiked down the stream and took pictures of even more falls. Absolutely beautiful! We planned on floating the Buffalo but never left the cabin because we had private pools to play in right there. I have stayed in several rentals, NONE of them come close to here. If you are thinking about staying here, just book now!
It was such an amazing stay! The waterfall next to the cabin was great and we enjoyed the scenery. Cannot wait to come back!
Doug and Amanda were awesome and the communication was fantastic! Thanks again for letting us stay at your place!
