The land Palm Villa is built on was considered the best site available on the west end of St John when this home was built. It’s well back from the road in a private and quiet spot and the views are really exceptional. More than a dozen islands lie below you, stretching from St. Thomas in the foreground to Culebra and Puerto Rico on the far distant horizon. The dramatic evening sunsets are absolutely dazzling and the ever changing daytime views make it difficult to leave Palm to hit the famous beaches. At night the show doesn’t end for the twinkling lights of distant islands create quite a beautiful nighttime scene. During the day, your southwest orientation provides you with blessed sun on your pool deck from 9am to sunset. For those looking for some cover, two 9 ft umbrellas were recently added and are bolted to the deck. If opened the umbrellas offer a peaceful and shaded place to sit and relax or for those looking for sun, the umbrellas can be easily closed and you can work on your golden tan; the choice is yours. The restaurants and many other delights of Cruz Bay are a 10-15 minute drive on paved roads.
Palm Villa’s design plan follows the time honored Caribbean traditions, with hip roofs, beamed cathedral ceilings, terracotta tiled floors, spacious outdoor living areas, 12 foot arched windows and doors, abundant tropical landscaping and the generous use of mahogany and tropical hardwoods. Palm includes 3500 sq/ft of living space and all of the living areas are on one level, except for the loft bedroom. For persons who are adverse to stairs, Palm is an exception on an island where most homes are built on multiple levels.
The four bedrooms are located in four separate buildings, providing excellent privacy for multiple couples and families. The east master bedroom suite (king bed) includes a/c, satellite TV/DVD, tiled bath with shower, and an adjoining sitting room. The master poolside bedroom and the guest poolside bedroom (queen beds) both have a/c, satellite TV/DVD, water views, tiled baths and garden showers and both open to the pool deck. The loft bedroom (twin beds w/newly added a/c) with a tiled bath and shower is the only room on the second level and is accessed by interior stairs from the great room.
The great room contains the, dining, kitchen and living areas, all of which open to the large tiled deck. The living room takes advantage of the striking views and is equipped with satellite TV/DVD, stereo/CD, and broadband internet. The mahogany, granite and stainless steel kitchen was completely remodeled in 2008 and is now a modern classic. A separate laundry room with washer/dryer is located off the kitchen and a gas barbeque grill is on the deck.
