Lonely Planet has just rated Queens #1 in the 'Top 10 Places in the US'-so stay at intersection of hip & new!
Children over 10 are welcome
This spacious 2 bed room Artist Lofts is located in Long Island City, Queens, just ten minutes by subway to Times Square ,the rest of Manhattan; and hipster Brooklyn, Williamsburg and Greenpoint.
PLEASE NOTE: The Loft is PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED for 5 hours including all closets, cabinets, refrigerator, under the beds, etc. We do not consider "slapping a set of old sheets on beds” to be a “cleaning”, and the Loft is completely devoid of any our personal “stuff”. We take this 100% seriously. Hence our cleaning fee. If arriving to a very CLEAN place is important to you, then please consider our Loft.
Architecturally designed and newly renovated, the decor includes original wide plank wood flooring, exposed brick walls and a contemporary kitchen; and is flooded with light from three exposures, views of Manhattan and one skylight. It is attractively furnished with an eclectic mix of original artwork, modern furniture and North African carpets and textiles. The master bedroom has a queen size bed and a view to the east and the second bedroom has a full size bed with a view to the south: the white tiled bathroom has a shower and tub. Amenities include WiFi, air conditioning, internet-ready flat screen TV,microwave, coffee-maker, ceiling fan, all linens and a full kitchen. The loft is located two flights up from the street. Smoking is not permitted.
Long Island City is one of New York's newest artistic neighborhoods with TWO Michelin starred restaurants: Case Enrique and M. Wells Steakhouse, AND TWO Michelin “Bib Gourmand” picks. It has hipster cafes, ethnic restaurants and art galleries right next to old world Italian restaurants. This is the place for gourmet eating with many young chefs setting up shop here! One particularly great local restaurant is Tournesol, a neighborhood fixture, owned and operated by a family from south west France. For art lovers, PS 1/MoMa Contemporary Art Center, the Noguchi Museum, and Sculpture Center are all near.
For more fun, take the East River Ferry to three different parts of Brooklyn and Wall Street from nearby Gantry State Park with its stunning running track along the river. There are also excellent yoga, fitness, and cycle studios, and a CitiBike station minutes from the loft.
We are two artists, one American painter and one British sculptor, who are avid world travelers ourselves (India, Italy and South East Asia are our favorite destinations!) and enjoy sharing our passionate love of New York with visitors. 'See the Real New York' is our motto! As a result, we offer real 'insider' tips to the best art galleries, museum shows and other events currently on view. As real 'foodies' and 'locavores' we can direct you to the best eats for the best price, from Farmer's Markets to 5 star restaurants, especially in our great Long Island City neighborhood. We personally renovated this apartment with love and sweat and an eye for design, elegance and charm.

This is the CLEANEST place you will reserve!! We absolutely love Queens, Long Island City where this loft is located. You are in Manhattan in five minutes by subway or you can stay in the neighborhood, enjoy the countless hipster restaurants, art galleries, walk along the East River Park and see the glorious Manhattan skyline, or take the bus five minutes to ultra chill Greenpoint or Williamsburg Brooklyn for even more art galleries, restaurants, etc. The building is on a lovely, tree-lined quiet block. The subway is a one minute walk from the apartment.
Lonely Planet has rated Queens #1 in the 'Top 10 Places in the US'-so stay where its all happening!
The location is superb for all of Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. All can be accessed by subway or bus, both at the end of the street.
A great spacious loft in a great location only minutes away from Manhattan. It has been a pleasure to deal with the owner. Gave us lots of travel tips during our stay. We had a wonderful time in New York! Will definitely recommend to friends and families and will use again!
We stayed in the Artist Loft in October 2016 for nearly 2 months. We arrived in the evening and rushed down to Gantry Park on the East River (a short walk away) to see the city and were blown away by the vista of Manhattan. The loft was just perfect, full of wonderfully interesting art by Margaret and David and it is spacious and light. We were very excited to have a view of the Chrysler Building from our lounge room. The loft has all the conveniences of home and was beautifully clean and ready for new guests when we arrived. The entrance to the subway is just on the corner of the street, 2 mins from the front door. The trains are really frequent, in the peak we didn't wait more than 3 mins and we were in Grand Central Station in 5 mins.
Long Island City is a vibrant area and the loft is located just off the main street which is full of great restaurants. There are 2 wonderful supermarkets a short walk away and many other shops where you can get everything you need on a daily basis. Having such a comfortable home away from home made our visit to NYC an incredible experience we will treasure the rest of our lives. Thank you Margaret and David for being such great hosts. The loft gave us a feel of what it is like to live in New York. Long Island City is a wonderful location with a stunning view of the Manhattan skyline. The owners were very attentive to any needs.
We were there in September - a great time to visit New York: lovely weather and the days are still long.
Our spacious and beautifully-appointed loft was in Long Island City, which itself has a residential, but still vibrant feel, away from the more touristy areas of Manhattan.
The area abounds in good restaurants and cafes, as well as a diner if you hanker for some traditional American fare. For self-catering, there is also a good selection of grocery stores and a great supermarket
The subway is only a short stroll from the loft, giving direct access to Grand Central Station, 5th Ave and Times Square within minutes. It really is as easy as that!
We love the way David and Margaret run their operation: they promptly answer queries and maintain communication throughout the planning process. You won’t find a more professional operation.
I will never stay anywhere else when visiting NYC! Our experience with this lovely apartment was wonderful . The apartment itself is beautiful and quite large by NYC standards. It features a sun filled living room, updated kitchen and bath, and two bedrooms with very comfortable beds. As an additional treat , the apartment (in fact the entire building) is filled with incredible artwork.
But you won't want to stay inside, because the location is the very best thing about this apartment! The neighborhood is wonderful. There are so many wonderful restaurants within 2 or 3 blocks that we were not able to visit them all! There is a great small grocery / deli around the corner, and two full grocery stores within easy walking distance. MOMA PS1 is an easy stroll away. The neighborhood is quite safe (NYPD station across the street from the apartment). There is a subway station less than half a block away . The 7 train will put you in midtown Manhattan in 15 minutes.
To top it off , Margaret was a remarkably gracious hostess. Communication was excellent and her hints for navigating the neighborhood were invaluable .
Best stay ever!
We stayed in City Sonnet's apartment „Blue“ for one month and it was just great! The apartment was clean, friendly and stylish. It was exactly as it appeared in the pictures and was just what we needed. David was very prompt to reply to emails and to answer all of our questions – always informative and helpful. The management of payment was easy and Margaret’s welcome uncomplicated, factual and warm.
We loved the location and the safe local neighbourhood atmosphere - we felt at home straight away. We highly recommend citysonnet’s lofts to anyone who wishes to stay close to downtown hotspots without staying in this crowded area. With a subway station just around the corner, you’re ready for easy trips to every place in Manhattan, Williamsburg or others areas of Brooklyn.
