Marabheag: Chesapeake Bay Beauty + Pier & Beach

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,400 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

3 Bedrooms. Direct Bayfront. Pier. Panoramic Views. Expansive Decks

Marabheag (little sea) - A Scotland Yards property - is situated directly on Chesapeake. Come hear the waves while you cook, read or relax; see diverse wildlife including, herons, swans, ospreys, bald eagles, and pelicans through expansive glass doors, from the Florida room, one of the many decks, including a large deck off the master bedroom. Or, grab a beach chair or towel and head for the private pier or the sandy beach.

2 kayaks and 4 bicycles are available for guest use. The floor plan, complete with a full kitchen, dining room, sitting room and a fireplace allows a family or group to be together whether cooking, playing games, watching television or just relaxing. A crackling fire in the wood burning fireplace makes winter days at Marabheag as enticing as summer days. Enjoy a weekend wine tasting at nearby Woodlawn plantation - Slack wines dot com.

A short-bike ride away is Point Lookout State Park, a Civil War site. Today the park, which is located at the intersection of the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River, hosts miles of protected land set aside for biking, kayaking, boating, fishing, camping or enjoying nature as well as a museum that provides a historical perspective on the region. Or charter a boat at one of many local marinas for a day of fishing on the Bay. Another nearby historical site is St. Mary's City (10 miles), the original capital of Maryland. Visitors are 25 minutes from dining and shopping on Solomon's Island or in historic Leonardtown. Or enjoy one of several local marina restaurants. Want a day trip away? All that the nation's capital has to offer is a short 80 miles away.

Collect shells and beach glass while walking uninterrupted for miles along the sandy beach. Unlike typical cheek-by-jowl beach houses, Marabheag offers its visitors bayfront accommodations in a secluded beach community, surrounded by woods. Enjoy rare waterfront privacy so close to major cities and amenities.

Please inquire about monthly rates since VRBO will not allow be to post the discounted monthly rates that are available in the off-season.

We loved our stay here! Such a great view, comfy furniture, the dogs loved it. We were having an issue with the smoke detector and I emailed the property manager; there were guys at the house within 30 mins. We will absolutely be back!

Peaceful and relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four had a great time. We used the kayaks and the bikes. Took long walks. Appreciated the beautiful views and comfortable beds! Did some star gazing on the second floor deck. We had a great time and even though still March we had weather in the 60's and one day 74. Lovely - thank you so much! Blessings from the Lawson family to yours

Cozy and well decorated with a fantastic view!

  • 4 of 5

We rented the house for our annual Girl's Weekend and had a fantastic time. We loved the house and thought it was very well decorated. Could use a little more counter space in the kitchen, but that could just be we had too many cooks or ate too much food. Only issue we had was that no sheets were provided for the futon pull out. Other than that we had a wonderful time and even made friends with the neighborhood dog Roscoe. He spent a lot of time with us. House is very charming. Thanks for everything.

This secluded beach community is peaceful enough for relaxation in the beauty of nature or a great place for water sports and outdoor activity. Short trips to the original capital of Maryland and other historic sites are available...if you are able to tear yourself away from this gorgeous setting.
