Marabheag (little sea) - A Scotland Yards property - is situated directly on Chesapeake. Come hear the waves while you cook, read or relax; see diverse wildlife including, herons, swans, ospreys, bald eagles, and pelicans through expansive glass doors, from the Florida room, one of the many decks, including a large deck off the master bedroom. Or, grab a beach chair or towel and head for the private pier or the sandy beach.
2 kayaks and 4 bicycles are available for guest use. The floor plan, complete with a full kitchen, dining room, sitting room and a fireplace allows a family or group to be together whether cooking, playing games, watching television or just relaxing. A crackling fire in the wood burning fireplace makes winter days at Marabheag as enticing as summer days. Enjoy a weekend wine tasting at nearby Woodlawn plantation - Slack wines dot com.
A short-bike ride away is Point Lookout State Park, a Civil War site. Today the park, which is located at the intersection of the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River, hosts miles of protected land set aside for biking, kayaking, boating, fishing, camping or enjoying nature as well as a museum that provides a historical perspective on the region. Or charter a boat at one of many local marinas for a day of fishing on the Bay. Another nearby historical site is St. Mary's City (10 miles), the original capital of Maryland. Visitors are 25 minutes from dining and shopping on Solomon's Island or in historic Leonardtown. Or enjoy one of several local marina restaurants. Want a day trip away? All that the nation's capital has to offer is a short 80 miles away.
Collect shells and beach glass while walking uninterrupted for miles along the sandy beach. Unlike typical cheek-by-jowl beach houses, Marabheag offers its visitors bayfront accommodations in a secluded beach community, surrounded by woods. Enjoy rare waterfront privacy so close to major cities and amenities.

It was beautiful!
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this property and we plan to come back during the summer when the kids can get in the water without freezing :).
A beautiful, quiet, immaculate stay
This place was fantastic! I'm almost afraid to leave a good review for fear it will be too booked for us to return. The property is gorgeous, with a nearby beach and amazing views of the water. My wife loved that the decor was not the usual cheesy nautical-themed stuff you see at many properties like these, but very tasteful. The rooms are lovely, with deck access on the 2nd floor bedroom, and the shower even has a steam sauna feature (which was nice on a cold morning). We enjoyed the fireplace (real, not gas) as well. We look forward to returning during the warm months with some friends because it would be perfect for a weekend away with friends or family.
Point Lookout is very close, easily bike-able, and a must-see.
All in all, an absolute pleasure. We will definitely be back.
Bracing walks and fireside family time
The house is good; simply and tastefully furnished with nice towels and linens. The big water views are from the open plan living room/kitchen, the dining room (which is more like a Florida room) and one of the bedrooms. The kitchen could do with a bit more counter space, but we managed.
There is a wide, flat lawn bordered by tall pine trees which leads to the dock. The sand and shell beach is short walk up the road. We were there during a particularly cold snap (the sea was freezing on the piers) and had a roaring log fire every night in the cozy TV area. We took our own Chrome dongle and streamed movies during the evenings - the internet was fast enough for that. The Scotland Yards staff were friendly, helpful and responded quickly to any requests we had.
The location is very quiet; so much so that my ears felt empty for the first few days. Plenty of long bracing walks along the deserted beaches and the trails of Point Look Out. Oh - did I mention we saw a bald eagle sitting on a nest by one of the docks. That was pretty cool.
Chesapeake Bay in all it's glory. Comfy beds, nicely appointed decoration throughout the house.
Lovely and Relaxing!!
My husband and I stayed at this home for a little R and R. We both work hard and needed peace and quiet. What a fabulous choice! It was exactly what we were looking for. Beautiful water views. Energizing breezes. Everything we needed for our time away. We would definitely return! We are very thankful for our chance to regroup at such a beautiful and relaxing place. The interior was bright and airy. Plenty of outdoor sitting space. Loved the upstairs balcony! We wouldn't change a thing.
At Scotland Yards, it makes us happy to make our guests happy! The indoor spaces of Marabheag are cozy with great water views and the outdoor decks are large - especially the upstairs wrap-around deck -with views to die for.
Beautiful spot to spend Labor Day Weekend!
Spacious, private, quiet, and beautiful. We love this spot and will definitely be back!
only 2 hours from Washington and Baltimore yet a world away. This secluded beach community is peaceful enough for relaxation in the beauty of nature or a great place for water sports and outdoor activity. Short trips to the original capital of Maryland and other historic sites are available...if you are able to tear yourself away from this gorgeous setting.
