About Larry and Wendy Shrader
Lawrence and Wendy Shrader are the owners of Willow Lodge and Primrose Dale Farm. It is a working farm that produces corn, soybeans and grass hay. Lawrence was born and raised in Littlestown and Wendy in Gettysburg so they are both native to Adams County. Both have a family background in farming.
Larry and Wendy Shrader purchased this Cottage in 2010
Why Larry and Wendy Shrader chose York Springs
In 2006 and newly married, Lawrence and Wendy began searching for the farm of their dreams...one that was not too far off the beaten path but far enough to provide the tranquility and pastoral setting they were looking for. Their search ended in 2010 when a 52 acre farm with two houses went on the auction block. Lawrence and Wendy moved quickly and with one swift sound of a gavel, Primrose Dale was born. By offering Willow Lodge as a guest cottage here on their farm, they hope to share with others the peace and tranquil beauty they found here in upper Adams County.
What makes this Cottage unique
Sitting back off the main road, the private gravel lane leads to a farm house and guest cottage. An abundance of wildlife can be spotted from Willow Lodge. It is not a rare occurrence to see a buck or a doe with her fawn grazing at the edge of the woods. The sound of a woodpecker, or a dove; an occasional 'hoot' of an owl is typical. The quiet beauty and the privacy of the location is unsurpassed….a serene place to rest, relax and renew.

Secluded get away with all the amenities of home
Willow lodge was all that we could’ve hoped for and then some. Bedrooms were comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a great meal. The hot water was plentiful the bathrooms were clean. The showers had great water pressure and felt fantastic after a long day of sightseeing on the battlefield of Gettysburg and Antietam. The fire pit was just what the doctor ordered for a relaxing evening under the stars discussing the days events and planning the next days activities. Willow lodge is probably the best deal on on Home Away. Thank you Larry and Wendy for allowing us to enjoy this gem.
Secluded, Quiet, Relaxing
Very enjoyable 10th annual reunion with college roommates. During the day we grilled and enjoyed the gravel patio under the shade of the trees. There is a ton of room on the rear grass for lawn games and sports. We hit a few local spots Friday and Saturday nights and enjoyed our weekend for sure. The house's AC was pumping well and the small kitchen was great. Thanks again.
Peace and Quiet
Tranquil and quiet but close to stores and restaurants. Fully-equipped kitchen. House was very clean. Bathrooms are beautiful and nicely decorated in modern style. Bedrooms were furnished with firm but comfortable mattresses. The hosts, Wendy and Larry, were easily accessible. Would recommend to anyone who loves country-living.
A very quiet and peaceful stay.
Lovely clean well maintained property
great little place
Can't wait to return next year, found this little cottage 3 years ago and have been back every year since.
Loved the peace and quiet
Wendy and Larry were great to work with. Wendy took time out of her day to show my sisters and myself around her property and we got to meet her alpaca Molly, adorable! The view from the back of Willow Lodge was serene and the star gazing on our last night there was breathtaking. We were able to enjoy the grill, fireplace and fire pit as each night had a nice chill in the air. I would absolutely recommend this cute cottage on the farm, and so close to Gettysburg, it was great. Sincerely, Elizabeth
