Books, board games, playing cards, campfires, and wildlife sightings are the main forms of entertainment at Willow Lodge. A small working fireplace in the living room, available for use October through March, provides guests with a rustic, cozy atmosphere while taking the chill out of a cool autumn evening or cold winter's night. A picnic table and charcoal grill (charcoal not provided) is available behind the house with a beautiful view of the farm and picturesque South Mountains. Guests must supply their own firewood for the outdoor fire pit as well as the indoor fireplace as it is not included in the rental cost nor is it available in or around the property. Local grocery stores typically have small bundles of campfire wood available for purchase.

This was our second stay while touring Gettysburg battlefield. We really just had campfires and slept there. It is peaceful, comfortable and convenient. Hosts are very responsive and nice to deal with.
Would stay again, very quiet and owners easy to correspond with. Only feedback would be to upgrade the master bed to a bigger one and upgrade locks to keyless entry.
Peaceful and very accessible to all things Gettysburg without staying in town. Great relaxing home base to come home to after a day at the battlefield or walking around historic downtown Gettysburg. Absolutely one of the most comfortable beds to sleep on .Perfect for a family of four
Super nice and quiet. We wanted a space out in nature with a fire pit to chill at in between some tours in the area. Great find! And we saw a walking stick bug. Lol
Clean very convenient and close to explore all Gettysburg has to offer. Very quiet and relaxing, we enjoyed the campfire. Would recommend for anyone looking for a clean quiet place to stay while seeing all Gettysburg has to offer.
Perfect place to stay when visiting Gettysburg. Exactly as described. The only downside we had was the mattresses are very firm, other than that we had a wonderful stay!
Peaceful and quiet, close to Gettysburg, Chambersburg, York…
Laid back, great place to relax, use the fire pit, trek around and do some local day trips. AWESOME Mennonite market in Chambersburg, Jim’s Market, the Round Barn is close by, Harrisburg isn’t that far.

About the host
Hosted by Larry and Wendy Shrader
Lawrence and Wendy Shrader are the owners of Willow Lodge and Primrose Dale Farm. It is a working farm that produces corn, soybeans and grass hay.
Lawrence was born and raised in nearby Littlestown and Wendy in Gettysburg so both are native to Adams County. They also share a family background in farming.
Why they chose this property
In 2006 Lawrence and Wendy began searching for the farm of their dreams...one that was not too far off the beaten path but far enough to provide the tranquility and pastoral setting they were looking for. Their search ended in 2010 when a 52 acre farm with two houses went on the auction block. Lawrence and Wendy moved quickly and with one swift sound of a gavel, Primrose Dale was born.
By offering Willow Lodge as a guest cottage, they hope to share with others the peace and tranquil beauty they found here in Upper Adams County.
What makes this property unique
Sitting back off the main road, the private gravel lane leads up through the woods to a guest cottage. An abundance of wildlife can be spotted from Willow Lodge. It is not a rare occurrence to see a buck or a doe with her fawn grazing at the edge of the woods. The sound of a woodpecker, the gentle cooing of a dove or an occasional 'hoot' of an owl is typical. The quiet beauty and the privacy of the location is unsurpassed….a serene place to rest, relax and renew.
