About this property
Downtown 1Bd Breezy Attic Get-Away Steps From Historic Old Charlottetown
*Please Note Our Attic Atelier Suite Is Available For Stays Of 28 Days Or Longer*
Located centrally, just steps from the heart of old Charlottetown, our legal luxury triplex is a former traditional centre-hall shingled house (originally built circa 1880) nestled on a professionally designed recently landscaped lot gently shaded by a stately century-old white ash tree.
Substantially renovated and recently furnished with quality designer furnishings, our top-floor 'Attic Atelier' suite has a secluded 'tucked under the eaves' hideaway charm which is a rare find in downtown Charlottetown. Inside and out, our airy, wrapped in windows top floor perch features its own private entrance, ensuite laundry, blonde wood floors, beadboard trim and six quality appliances.
This suite boasts two sun-dappled bedrooms (one queen, featuring fresh, quality linens, the other now a dedicated work-from-home space) with operable windows which supply each with the benefit of fresh island summer breezes. The well-appointed living area (complete with flat-screen television and comfortable extra-long linen settee) easily converts to accommodate additional sleeping for one simply by closing the pocket French doors. The living space has a pair of glass doors that open onto a spacious sky vista terrace with seating and barbecue nestled beneath the canopy of a 100 year old ash tree. It's a magical treetop perch ideal for evening stargazing. The open kitchen is equipped with quality stainless steel appliances and features a cozy built-in banquette and round ship-captain's dining table. It's the perfect place to cook, gather and unwind. And for those who love indulgence akin to a spa, our four-piece washroom features an over-sized rain shower, deep soaking tub, and walks out onto a sun-kissed balcony which overlooks nearby gardens. This beautifully proportioned suite is ideal for those who covet light, air, and outdoor space.

About the host
Hosted by James Ormston
I own Upper Hillsborough with my long-time friend and business associate, Steven. We're both Realtors with Bosley Real Estate Brokerage in Toronto, Ontario. Steven, who operates his urbaneer division, has been with Bosley for many years, and myself, many fewer! We've been fast and fabulous friends since meeting while attending the University of Victoria. I'm originally from Summerland, British Columbia, having moved to Toronto in 1988 to pursue my education and my career as an orchestral musician. In the time since, I've performed with many of Canada's finest ensembles including the Toronto Symphony, the National Ballet of Canada and the Canadian Opera Company, and played music in places as far flung and varied as Charlottetown, Hong Kong, Edinburgh and New York City. Since 1999, I've been lucky enough to call Charlottetown home during the summer months thanks to my long involvement as a musician at the Charlottetown Festival.
Why they chose this property
12 Upper Hillsborough at time of our purchase was a true diamond-in-the-rough: solid, tons of character, and well-situated to Old Charlottetown on a street shared with many fellow artists and artisans! To say we adore the sense of community here is an understatement. We fell in love with it's quirkiness, it's history, it's outstanding potential and it's close proximity to all the things nearby that make Charlottetown a truly wonderful place to visit. It's our hope your stay with us will be one of your most memorable!
