Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi, Norma-- We've had a wonderful, restorative time here; sleeping soundly, eating gloriously and otherwise filling our souls with the beauty and quiet of this extraordinary place. Thank you for sharing your corner of paradise with us! We so appreciate your offer of another night and gave it serious consideration. At this point, we will keep our plans to depart tomorrow, Weds, at around 10 in order to work our way home at a relaxed pace. Again, we couldn't be more satisfied with our visit here. We were unable to book my family's lakeside cabin in Montana for this past weekend, so it's particularly special to enjoy another family's retreat and benefit from the wisdom that chose a perfect spot years before. Highlights: *Memorable meals at Atlas, Martine's, Osaka Sushi, and points northward *Comox Farmer's Market *Biking...some of Seal Bay park, also short jaunts to Berry Best and Abuelo's *Investigating the tide pools along the shoreline *Relaxing in our comfortable, peaceful well-appointed lodgings Again, much thanks and best regards: Annika & Jonathan

Perfect get-away for a retreat

  • 5 of 5

I booked this suite for a week-long writing retreat. When I arrived, I couldn't believe my luck - and the feeling never changed! The studio was quiet, warm, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a longer stay. There was also plenty of hiking and beach-combing right outside the door. The picturesque location was ideal, and host Norma made me feel welcome and comfortable. I highly recommend visiting this delightful spot.

Lovely little getaway

  • 5 of 5

Stayed by myself and the suite was lovely and clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. Very quiet location but an easy drive into town. I spent quite a bit of time running and hiking in Seal Bay Nature Park just down the road, what a beautiful place for a little holiday!

Cozy, Comfortable, and Convenient

  • 5 of 5

This spotless studio has all the right touches—a comfy bed and fabulous shower, complete kitchen and is steps away from the beach and a park. This is a quiet and cozy retreat that is perfect to end a day of exploring the Comox Valley. Norma and Phillipe respect your privacy, but are available if you need anything.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful week at Lions Barking. Nice and private with driveway down to door, watched sea lions swim by from the kitchen window, birdwatching along the beach (it's cobblestone, not sand). The apartment is just as stated, had everything I needed & the owners made their laundry room available for me. Plenty of places to explore in the area, Seal Bay was my favorite. Hoping to return for a longer stay.

Wonderful location, but low on natural light(perhaps because of the time of year?)

  • 4 of 5

The accommodation was beautifully furnished,well-equipped and very was well-heated with

lots of hot water.....a real bonus was the use of the host's washing machine, and her local knowledge

about local walks and other things to do locally.

The setting was perfect to explore both Coast and nearby Woodland. It was at the end of a cul-de-sac

which made it very 'private'.

Overall a most enjoyable stay......and it was only the fact that the accommodation was darker than we

anticipated that prevented us from giving it a 5* rating.

Fabulous peaceful place by the sea

  • 5 of 5

Really loved the accommodations. The studio was beautifully decorated and very quiet and secluded. I loved having the windows open and hearing the sounds of the ocean as the tides moved in and out. The studio is so well located so as to be nearby to the city for supplies as well as natural wild areas. Hosts were friendly and helpful and yet for the most part, we rarely even felt their presence. Really enjoyed being located in a quiet residential neighborhood at the end of a dead-end road that backed up to a park. Saw herons, seals, and of course lots of sea gulls. Hiked at the nearby Forbidden Plateau - Strathcona Provincial Park (really beautiful), as well as purchased seafood off-the-boat from the Comax Fisherman's Wharf, and took morning walks through the parks. Located close to Campbell River, Strathcona Park, & Elk River Falls. Had a wonderful time and appreciated coming back to a quiet peaceful place. I strongly recommend this accommodations.
