About Laura Jenschke

Daniel and I built Cross Mountain Retreat 12 years ago. We have enjoyed hosting all of our guests over the past 12 years! We love having the opportunity to provide our guests with a fun, romantic time to get away for a while.

Daniel is a general building contractor in Fredericksburg and I am a music professor at Texas Lutheran University.

We have three children, a wonderful daughter in law and a beautiful new granddaughter.

Laura Jenschke purchased this house in 2002

Why Laura Jenschke chose Fredericksburg

Cross Mountain Retreat is located in the beautiful town of Fredericksburg, Texas. Daniel and I grew up here and we think our town is one of the most beautiful places in Texas. Our retreat is perfect for honeymoons, anniversaries, couples traveling together, or just a chance to get away!

What makes this house unique

It is a unique property, that is in town but offers a very private experience for our guests. Each suite has a beautifully appointed king bed, seating area, fireplace, jetted tub, shower and private outdoor patio.

In the heart of Texas Hill Country, Fredericksburg is a small city with a unique German flavor in its quaint bakeries, Hauptstrasse (Main Street) boutiques and generations-old peach orchards. Weekenders from nearby San Antonio and Austin have long appreciated the charm of the city's many B&Bs and 'Sunday House' Inns. The surrounding Texas Hill Country is home to lush vineyards, making up one of the country's largest viticultural areas. Fredericksburg and the surrounding areas host many wine-tasting events at the many local wineries.

Other Activities: wine-tasting, shopping, bike and motorcycle riding, deer hunting

Relaxing weekend stay

  • 5 of 5

Laura's place was great, and she was very easy to communicate with by email. It was very close to town and just a short drive to wineries and Enchanted Rock. We enjoyed our weekend and would recommend Laura's rental to any couple looking for an easy and quiet getaway

We enjoyed our stay for our 10 year wedding anniversary.

  • 4 of 5

The bed was super comfy! The property was close but not walking distance. We used some local cab services and they were really helpful! We loved the hot tub and fire pit in the back yard. I would recommend having more channels available because we wanted to watch a playoff baseball game and there were only basic cable channels available. Other than that we liked having the fire place and the layout was great for our needs!

Very Comfortable, well located

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed staying at the cross mountain retreat. It was clean and comfortable. Two very minor suggestions. The freezer needs to be defrosted Also, the rod in the closet is awkward to hang clothes. If you could change the way the rod is hung, it would be much easier.

Great location and just what you need!

  • 5 of 5

We booked our stay for our one year anniversary and could not have been any happier with our entire vacation. The lodge is just a few minutes away from main street and yet, you feel like you are far into the hill country. The hot tub is perfect for the end of the night after walking down main street and is perfectly in sight of the famous cross on cross mountain drive, we loved that! We will be staying here again for sure! However, we will bring extra towels next time, that was the only thing we were short of during our stay with the hot tub and all we ran out quickly! In conclusion, if you want a close , cozy place to Main street and just need the basics this is the perfect spot!

Great Place - My Wife and I Loved it

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. Really quiet and parking is right by the steps so unloading and loading was a breeze. The place is great for couples with a hot tub that was perfect at the end of a long day. My wife especially loved the outdoor shower while it was raining. Thanks and see you again sometime.
