Beytagh House is a beautiful Town House in Landmark Historic Downtown Savannah that was built in 1872 for Mrs. and Mr. Winnefred and Gerald Beytagh, Esquire, of England. Beytagh is 1,474 square feet of interior space plus an outdoor deck and private fenced courtyard that is easily accessible and conveniently located in the Crawford Ward at Crawford Square, one of the 22 original squares of Savannah. This gracious home offers comfort, a fully stocked kitchen and the historic beauty of original heart of pine floors, five original fireplaces, a private deck and a private fenced in courtyard. Beytagh is just a short walk away from Forsyth Park, City Market, River Street, and Broughton Street. You won't need your car to get to shopping, restaurants, arts, culture, and entertainment. Wander out the front door to beautiful Crawford Square, or relax in the private courtyard. Parking is non metered; free! (Crawford Square was designed in 1841 and named in honor of William Harrison Crawford, Minister of France during the reign of Napoleon. Crawford was said to be the only foreign politician with any influence over Napoleon.) (Just a 'short' comment.)
There are two upstairs bedrooms each with a queen bed, one full bath with a walk-in shower on the first floor and another full bath on the second floor with a walk in shower and original claw-foot enamel bath tub. There is a formal living room, formal dining room, kitchen and laundry on the first floor along with a comfy TV den (high speed WiFi, 130 satellite channels, HD flat-screen TV). Central air with ceiling fans in each room, and 100 year old Oaks out front which add even more ambiance to the architecture.
Beytagh is, on a pet by pet basis (less than 30 pounds and well behaved and non-destructive) pet friendly so that you may bring your best friend on your perfect vacation. The enclosed courtyard is perfect for them to enjoy, as well as having Crawford Square nearby. Our community is very dog friendly; many restaurants have outside dining and allow you to dine with your pup. (Pets must be on a Veterinarian prescribed flea regiment.) Please note that pets must be PRE approved, and that any pet "sneaked" onto the property shall result in immediate eviction without refund!

The best way to enjoy the charm, charisma, and character of Savannah is on foot. Beytagh offers the start of the beat in your feet as you take in the land of live oaks, hanging moss, magnolia trees, night-scented jasmine, and the constant eye candy that is the architecture of the buildings in this most historic part of Savannah. The 22 squares are laid out on a grid pattern and provide the setting for gorgeous historic homes and businesses. The squares provide islands of tranquility, shade and beauty in the city, which, because of the short distances, and level tree-lined streets between them, make it a walker's paradise. And, Beytagh's courtyard is a welcome retreat at the end of a busy day.

Having lived and taught both Music and Art in Heidelberg and Munich Germany for eighteen years before moving to the Savannah area 11 years ago, I was spoiled with European city customs. I've lived in the 'country' in the suburbs for the past 11 years missing that Euro feel. I would experience it every time I set foot in the Historic District of Savannah; it somehow felt like home.
Paul purchased this Townhome in 2013
Why Paul chose Historic District - North
After many years of searching for a home that has the historic element not modernized or updated totally out of it, I found Beytagh and knew the second I entered it that 'this was it'! Original heart of pine floors with 141 years of wear, not refinished, not made to look 'new' again (the beauty of a true patina that only age can create) plus located at one of the original remaining 22 squares with 100 year old oaks dripping with Spanish moss out front and minutes by foot to anything and everything that Savannah has to offer, along with the much sought after charm of the many original architectural touches had me 'charisma-seized'.
What makes this Townhome unique
Parking. Ah yes, the infamous issue of Savannah Downtown and Historic District P-A-R-K-I-N-G! People running about begging to buy quarters, pleading with parking ticket issuers, buying gum to break a twenty to get change for the meters, or running about to the auto pay machines with a two or three hour limit. Now, I simply find it all amusing as the street beside my house has no meters. Relax. Take that extra stroll around yet another beautiful square enjoying the architecture that, unlike Atlanta which was burned to the ground, still lives in Historic Savannah Beauty because someone had a cunning ken and gave Sherman the keys to the city as a gift for Lincoln during the Civil War, lest none of this would exist for our enjoyment today. That 'First Historic Preservationist' deserves much credit from us all. Regretfully, Gerald Beytagh died in 1876 leaving behind Winnefred (with an 'E') to live her days alone in this home that I now call Beytagh House in his honor. I am told that he and she rest in Bonaventure Cemetery, though I am yet to make that research personally.

Enjoyed my stay
Wonderful atmosphere in a period home. You know you are in the South when you stay here! Owner very accommodating. Very clean and filled with conveniences. Facing busy street/ transition neighborhood but quick walk to river, squares, all the places you want to go. Never have to drive if you don't want to. Street parking readily available.
So nice to have a dog friendly place to stay. Very grateful.
This was a very nice location.
We so enjoyed Savannah GA, what a wonderful town to visit. There is so much to do there. This house was very nice and the owner was very accommodating. The road in front of this property was a little noise but all in all a great stay.
amazing historical property with all the ammenities.
From the first glimpse inside the house it was a dream come true. Perfect restoration and beautifully appointed. Our host had thought of everything from beginning to end. We were able to easily walk to all of the historical sites and as a perk if you are staying in the historical area and use Old Savannah Trolley Tour, with a simple phone call they will come to your door and pick you up and bring you back. Our host provided for anything we could have wanted. Would stay in this home again. The only slight negative is the street noise on E. Broad Street as it is a main thorough fare.
Great location, great stay
We had a great time in Savannah and Beytagh House worked perfectly for us. It was great to fix coffee and breakfast at home and then walk to everything we wanted to see in Savannah. Paul helped with restaurant recommendations and if we needed anything, he was quick to follow-up. We'd stay here again.
Stylish Savannah Home Away From Home
Beytagh House exceeded our expectations on all fronts. The house is conveniently located for wonderful walks throughout historic Savannah and has easy parking nearby. But its coup de grace is really the care and attention its owner (Paul) has put in to making it a fantastic vacation home. It's always the small touches that mean the most: lights on and music playing to welcome us in, top-quality bed linens and mattress-toppers to make sleep heavenly, dining table set for us upon arrival, and welcome information with loads of tips about restaurants, shops and services. Beytagh is such a beautiful home and easily comfortable for four adults.
The communication with the owner was exceptional from booking through to check-out. Questions were answered quickly and helpfully; we were always confident that should there be any issue or further question, he was there to help. And, although there were no issues, we did have questions about the city and its offerings. Simply stated: we felt taken care of in a luxury property - surely that is what 5 stars is all about!
We've already recommended the property to friends and family and would return there in a second on a future visit to Savannah (which we hope is sooner rather than later!).
A home made of dreams!
This house is absolutely stunning. I sit in a 5 star hotel writing this from the next leg of my journey, and find myself wishing I was back at Beytagh house with all of its comforts and grace. Every detail of this home makes it a perfect oasis of serenity. Paul is an AMAZING host. He is exactly as helpful as you need him to be and makes sure you want for nothing. I honestly have never loved a vacation rental like I loved this one. It had everything we wanted and more.
It is also in the PERFECT location. very quiet, yet a very short walk to TONS of attractions, restaurants, and parks. There is no way anyone could possible regret choosing this as their Savannah home. It is just a dream.
