Absolutely wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I are a bit delayed in writing up a review for this rental, but it's been a couple months since our trip, and we still talk about what a great choice this rental was for our stay in Bermuda. Alan and their dog, Jack, proved to be everything the other reviews raved about! (Unfortunately we only got to say a quick hello to Anita when we crossed paths once during our stay there). We couldn't have asked for a nicer family to rent from. They were so accommodating and friendly (having groceries ready for us, helping us get organized with the bus system, letting us throw the ball around for Jack for hours(!!), and even driving us to our next hotel location for the end of our trip). The rental was bright and clean, the bed was comfy, and overall, we had everything we needed for our time in Bermuda. You'd be a fool not to rent this property!

Amazing Time Here!

  • 5 of 5

Can't say enough about our stay here. Alan greeted us with a couple of cold beers and was so helpful in recommending things to do and see. This location is centrally located, easy to get to all areas of the island. We rented a scooter that was delivered to us and we were able to cover every corner of Bermuda in the 6 days we stayed. Be prepared for endless fun with Jack the dog who loves a good game of fetch with his tennis ball. This studio was impeccably clean, with everything we needed. Quiet and restful, clean and safe. Walking distance to a great restaurant we highly recommend called Rustico, as well as a pretty good pizza joint called Five Stars. Stock up on grocery items at the nearby grocery store and you can have breakfast in the room. It costs about $20 from this location to the airport by taxi. The bus is in walking distance. Minutes from the Aquarium which is great to see on a rainy day. The night before we left Alan and Anita spent time with us as we talked about our trip and enjoyed some good laughs together. They are tremendously welcoming and hospitable. You almost forget you are staying at a VRBO rental location - you feel like you are staying with friends or family. Any needs we had with the studio were immediately addressed and cared for. They even provided towels and some snorkel gear for our week. I really can't say enough about this location. Do not HESITATE to stay here. Especially for the price - it can't be beat. If we ever make it back to Bermuda, we will definitely be staying with Alan and Anita. We send your our warmest regards from NC! Andrew and Iris!

Bermuda's

  • 5 of 5

What a truly wonderful vacation spot. The studio is centrally located and just a two minute walk from the bus stop; it is spotlessly clean, comfortable and very well equipped with everything you would need to enjoy your stay on this beautiful Island. Alan and Anita are very welcoming and hospitable and are happy to advise on where to golf, dine out, explore and swim or snorkel. There is a private patio with BBQ and table & chairs. The photos accurately depict this accommodation. Be prepared to be totally charmed by the little family dog Jack, who is gentle, friendly and so very entertaining. We offered to take him home with us!! Don't hesitate to book a stay at this studio!

Trust these reviews; STAY HERE! :)

  • 5 of 5

I had chosen to stay at Alan and Anita's property based on all of the raving 5-star reviews on this website, and I'm so glad I did. Do not think that "affordable" means "cheap." This studio apartment is clean, spacious, and beautiful, with a great view of the water (Harrington Sound is less than a minute's walk away). The property is centrally located with bus stops just down the road; the bus ride into Hamilton takes 30-40 minutes, but there is so much to look at while you're driving that the time passes quickly. Most of all, the owners, Alan and Anita, are very friendly and helpful--they greeted me by asking if I'd like a beer, and then took me shopping at Lindos to stock up on groceries. Alan even drove me to the wedding I was going to (which was unnecessary but greatly appreciated!). If you're looking for an affordable way to visit Bermuda while still having a great time, look no further!

To Alan and Anita: thanks again for a wonderful stay!

Just wonderful

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at Alan and Anita's cottage and we are so happy that we did. This is special place and a really great location. It had every this we needed a microwave, gas grill, mini refrigerator, toaster and a small burner. We were greeted by Allen & Jack (their pet dog) and Allen offered to take us to the Lindos market where we stocked up on groceries. Later when we returned we met Anita who is a wonderful person. We had our scooters delivered by Oleanders and and we made good use of them. We were out every day for 8 days including 1/2 of our last day in Bermuda. When we would return in the evening we enjoyed relaxing at our cottage. Jack would greet us and loved playing fetch. Anita, Alan and Jack thank you for a wonderful vacation. We look forward to our next visit and thank you for a wonderful experience.

Inexpensive Delightful R&R Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Welcomed and greeted by hostess, host and adorable dog, Jack to a lovely and inviting studio apartment attached to their beautiful house. Found studio compact, attractive, clean with basic necessities in unit; very comfortable bed and delightful breeze without needing to use air conditioner, as well as outdoor patio w/gas grill set among one of the most beautiful gardens of assorted plants and flowers. If wanting a rest and relaxation, as well as opportunity to tour such a beautiful island (the most beautiful beaches we have ever seen among the 14 islands we have visited)look no further. Charming host Alan could not do enough for us to make our stay so pleasant and enjoyable. Jack the most friendly, smart and playful dog greeted us each time we returned from a day outing. Bermuda is so very expensive especially the food (we purchased take out for the entire time we stayed - 10 days and ate lunch out a few times - found take out pretty good and inexpensive) Recommend not to rent scooters as we witnessed a few accidents upon arriving enroute to the studio, as well as on our return flight -a passenger had to be lifted up to the plane as she was in a scooter accident requiring surgery upon returning to the U.S. Take either taxis(very expensive) or purchase bus/ferry pass which we did and found it doable - and safe - wish they would allow visitors to rent cars so you could pack chairs, towels, etc. and ease/convenience of driving at night. The bus transportation is very convenient as you walk down the hill from studio and either turn right or left for the bus. If you turn right Bus 3 takes you to St. George - you stand by the blue pole, or if you wish to go to Hamilton, turn left down the hill and board Bus 3 stand by pink pole to Hamilton where you can visit Hamilton or get off where the Ferries are (which is also where the Bermuda Tourist Board is)or the last stop to the Bus Depot. Highlights of visiting Bermuda would be: Hamilton/Dockyard/St. George/St. David and all the drop dead gorgeous beaches where you board a bus into Hamilton get off at the last stop - Bus Depot and change for Bus 7 to all the beaches in the south end of island. If you need a rest and relaxation and want to absorb the beauty and flavor of this enchanting island but do it economically and comfortably, look no further ....this fits the bill. Grateful to Alan and Anita Hughes for making our very first stay in Bermuda a wonderful and memorable time.
