About the property

Private circa 1885 cottage in prime location

Isabella House is a circa 1885 cottage with vintage character and charm located in the Downriver Historic District of Natchez, Mississippi. It has been lovingly renovated from a state of total disrepair and is available for nightly and weekly stays comfortably accommodating 2-4 guests. Although furnished with many unique and antique pieces, it still offers modern conveniences such as cable, internet, dishwasher and washer/dryer as well as complimentary snacks and beverages. The rear courtyard is spacious and private and has a grill and chiminea for guest use. At Isabella House, you'll be within walking distance of wonderful downtown shops, restaurants and entertainment, but you might not want to leave the back porch!

Why Jackie Cummings chose Mississippi

When you see the 'BEFORE' pictures on my website, you might understand why others couldn't see the potential in this property, but, although the renovation took a very long time, I always knew it could be as amazing as it is today! It was literally saved by local historic preservation efforts (which prevented it from being demolished).....and me!

Fantastic!

Jackie is simply one of the most accommodating hosts out there. The house is just wonderful with a private, fenced-in backyard. My daughter brought her hammock and spent a lot of time back there. Delicious deli next door and walking distance to downtown. We will be back.

We travel a lot, Isabella House far exceeded our expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We spent a few days in Natchez two years ago and promised ourselves a longer stay to really enjoy the area. There is so much to do and see and Isabella House is right in the center of everything. Yes, the house is rustic, but in best possible sense of the word. Jackie, the proprietor, has given such careful thought to all the touches and amenities it is such a pleasure to stay there. We extended our 10 day visit to almost 3 weeks! Thanks, Jackie, for your hospitality.

We had a good time in Natchez and the house was perfect, had everything we needed. There were four of us, 2 couples, and the house worked out well for us. It is a charming and well laid out house. Jackie was very nice and assisted us when needed.

Step Back In Time

  • 5 of 5

This charming house was perfect for our Natchez stay. Just two couples wanting to experience the history of Natchez. Not only did we visit historic sites, we stayed in one of them! The backyard is so private and peaceful, the decor was awesome, and Jackie, the owner, went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. I would highly recommend this little gem if you are looking for the perfect Natchez experience.

Our Own Spring Pilgrimage

  • 5 of 5

2 retired couples and a road trip. Part of that trip was 4 nights at Isabella House. This place was charming and the decorating, antiques and furnishings were great. Single bath, but we had no problems with that at all. Location is close to downtown, "under the bridge" eatery/saloon and centrally located for touring the mansions of the Spring Pilgrimage. Backyard was fenced, very private and a great place to kickback. So plan your trip, buy a Greg Iles novel or two and head to Natchez, MS. Great part of the country.

Natchez is steeped in history and has an array of magnificent antebellum homes. You can get an up-close and personal feel of the old south touring these beautiful and unique homes and properties. Some are open year round, and many others are featured during Natchez' Spring and Fall Pilgrimages in March and October. We are also home of The Great Mississippi River Balloon Race in October-an event you don't want to miss! The Bluff Blues Fest, The Food and Wine Fest, The Festival of Music and the Independence Day Celebration with Fireworks on the River are just some of the many attractions that keep life in this bluff city fun and entertaining! There are also ghost tours, the Natchez Little Theater, the Under-the-Hill Bar and Saloon and the St. Catherine Creek National Wildlife Refuge among many other local attractions....truly something for everyone! Come enjoy what suites you!
